    Review & Installation Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m checking out MGP’s front and rear caliper covers, fitting all 2005 and newer Mustangs. So here’s the deal, an aftermarket big brake kit is not exactly cheap, and painting your factory calipers can sometimes not give you the results you’re looking for. These covers from MGP are a great way to cover up those ugly factory calipers, while adding a little customization and helping to reduce the brake dust on your wheels. The covers are offered in a red or a black powder coat and with a number of different logo options. We have a couple here on the table including the red GT logo, the complete black Cobra setup, the red running Pony logo, and the black 5.0 logo, just to name a few. Taking a closer look at the calipers you’ll first notice a very durable T6 aluminum construction, along with that powder coated red or black finish. In addition we have the officially licensed logo right in the center, along with some simulated hardware for a more realistic look. The installation really isn’t all that bad and should take you about an hour from start to finish. Of course you will need to remove your wheels just to gain access to the calipers so make sure you have your jack handy. In addition you’re going to want to make sure 3/8” wrench just to tighten up the hardware on the covers themselves, but other than that everything is completely straightforward. So if you’re tired of looking at those rusty factory calipers and you don’t feel like forking out big dough for an aftermarket big brake kit, you’ll want to look into MGP’s caliper covers available right here at AmericanMuscle.com

Mustang Styling. This set of four Black MGP Caliper Covers are a great way to set off your new rims and they feature modern "Mustang" lettering on the front two covers and the iconic Tri-Bar Pony logo on the rear two. These Officially Licensed MGP Caliper Covers will give any S197 Mustang a big brake race ready look that will turn heads.

Reduces Brake Dust. These Caliper Covers not only look fantastic, but they also act as a protective dust shield to help keep your rims looking cleaner longer.

Quality Construction. MGP makes their Caliper covers from light weight 6061-T6 Aerospace Aluminum that is formed to the caliper for a perfect fit. The covers are then powder coated for a long lasting high gloss look. The installation brackets are TIG welded in place for extra security.

Easy No Mess Install. Painting your calipers can be messy and time consuming, but the MGP Caliper Covers simply install over your stock calipers and are held in place with the supplied clip and bolt. For a no muss, no fuss install.

Application. Designed to fit over factory brakes, this set of four MGP caliper covers include all the required hardware needed for installation on a 2005 to 2009 V6 or GT Mustang.

    • Bullitt - 08, 09
    • GT - 05, 06, 07, 08, 09
    • V6 - 05, 06, 07, 08, 09

Fits V6 and GT's with factory brake calipers only, does not fit Shelby GT500.

Technical Note. A minimum of 1/8 of an inch clearance between the wheel and the brake caliper is required for proper fitment. We have found that the MGP caliper covers will require the use of a small 1/4" spacer to provide proper clearance with our aftermarket Bullitt wheels, see drop down option above

Do I need a set of spacers for both front and rear? Or just one set? If just one, would that be for the front or back?

    2006blackV6

    • If you were to need spacers for clearance, you would only need them for the rear as the front should clear without spacers.

If you look at the MGP website, it says for a V6, with 16 inch wheels, these will not fit. Is that true? It did say for 17 and 18 wheels they would fit.

    Joe

    • The MGP Black Caliper Covers w/ Pony Tri-Bar Logo require a 17" wheel or larger on both the V6 and the GT for proper fitment.

I have 2006 Mustang V6 with 18 inch wheels do I need spacers? Thank you

    Rdstar

    • These covers should in no way be a problem with 18" wheels, even 17" would not rub or in any way interfere with the brake covers. These covers will give the wheels a bold new look though, sure to be noticed.

Will these fit on the 2014 V6 Mustang? I have everything on my Car with the Pony and the Tri-Bar emblem, and this would make it complete if it will fit.

will these fit on 2011-2014 mustangs

    Kozmo70

    • No, the MGP Black Caliper Covers w/ Pony Tri-Bar Logo - Front & Rear (05-10 GT, V6) will not fit on the 2011-14 mustangs. We do have a MGP Black Caliper Covers w/ 5.0 Logo - Front & Rear (11-14 GT, V6) Kit that can be found here: http://www.americanmuscle.com/calipercovers-2011-50-black.html.

      2007 V6 17" wheels (stock)

These covers did NOT fit my 2007 stock mustang! They rub and no matter how much you adjust, they do not stop rubbing. Others had wrote the same before (which I wish I read prior to purchase). I DID call A.M. prior to purchase and they said for sure there would be no problem. They look very nice and I wish they did! All this being said, I am very happy with American Muscle products overall...

      My view

This product is well made and looks great. Depending on the rims you have you may run into a clearance problem requiring rim spacer. You really have to work the fasteners at times of install to get them to work and allow full coverage of the caliper at the same time. With a little patience you can achieve it with great results.

      Looks great

I put the Xtreme Stop Precision Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotor brake kit on at the same time as I installed these and, as a previous reviewer noted, I had to slightly modify the clips on the back to keep them from rubbing on the rotors. It took me a few drives around the block before I had them dialed in which is why it took my an afternoon. Other than that though I love the covers because they hide the rusty calipers.

      Stylish

Car show worthy. These look great on the mustang. The clips do scratch the rotors causing to screech when I turn, but it's almost worth it. Better black than red on my silver mustang.

The rear covers do not fit.

The front covers fit perfectly and look Great! The rear covers will not fit ,no matter what you do to adjust the clips. The rear covers simply are not made to fit. You've been warned. That being said ,I still think AM is the best.

      caliper covers

these covers really dress up the black rims nicely. the product is very good but the only set back or issue I don't particularly care for is how they get attached. you have to ensure you put the spacers on the front end as they suggest and if the brackets are not closed in enough they will rub along the brake rotor making a loud noise. installation is simple and takes a few minutes. make sure you are looking at the small details on gap spacing and don't be surprised if you need to make some corrections after first drive.

      Not as labeled

The website says 05-10 mustang GT and V6 and I have a 2010 V6 mustang with stock rotors and calipers and brake pads. Nothing anywhere near the caliper covers has been changed to a different size or anything and the caliper covers did not fit, they ground on and scratched the rotors up when installed so I had to remove them.

Look great but a tricky install

The end result looks great. It takes more time to remove and reinstall the wheels than it does to install the covers. I did and do still have some issue with squeaking. Initially both rear wheels squeaked. I removed the brackets and found that the bottom of one clip on each wheel was scraping the rotor spine. I bent the bottom part of each of these parts upwards and reinstalled the covers. No more squeak on the right side and on the left side some minor scraping when turning right exists. It is so minor I think i will ignore it. Or maybe stop making right-hand turns.

      Nice clean look

The installation was straightforward and took less than an hour. Including replacing the front set of brake pads. They are a tight fit and we had to jigger one of them as it was just barely touching the rotor. I'm really digging the clean look and I'm dying to see what they look like when rolling down the freeway.

      Cherry On Top

The installation of the MGP Black Caliper Covers was easy following the instructions from MGP. There was no need for spacers with my Chrome American Racing Nova Wheels (18x9 VN701) from AM. The look of black caliper covers from AM with my EBC 3GD Series Dimpled and Slotted Sport Rotors along with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus and the AM Custom Nova Wheels makes the complete package for my taste. The perfect street wheel setup.

      Easy Peasy!

Installation can not be more simple. My only complaint would be that the covers do not "completely" cover the calipers, but for the cost and ease of installation (as compared to replacing the calipers) this product is a no brainer!
