      Understanding The Vehicle Speed Sensor. Modern vehicles, such as your Dodge Challenger rely on a series of sensors to send vital information to the ECU. The ECU reads and interprets these values, using them to alter other variables that affect your Challenger's operation for maximum performance. One critical series of sensors is the Automatic Transmission Vehicle Speed Sensors, which house one sensor located at each wheel and two in the transmission. This product replaces the sensors found near each wheel hub and monitors the speed of each wheel, reiterating this information to the ECU to control driver convenience systems such as anti-lock brakes and cruise control. 

      Replace A Damaged Vehicle Speed Sensor. When a vehicle speed sensor malfunctions, it may trigger a check engine light on the dashboard and a related code. If not, the best indicator of a failed VSS would be a lack of ABS or cruise control functionality. If either of these systems becomes inoperable, it may be time to replace your Challenger's Automatic Transmission Vehicle Speed Sensor.
