Review & Installation Video

Review & Install Video

Hey, everybody. I'm Justin with and welcome to my detailed review of the Corsa Sport Catback Exhaust System, available for your 2015 and up Fastback GT. The Corsa Sport Catback is the combination of the Touring Series Axleback here paired with the unique double helix X-pipe from Corsa. Now I'm not going to lie, the Corsa Touring Series Axleback by itself paired up with the factory resonator is pretty mild. But once you remove that resonator and replace it with the double helix X-pipe, the exhaust really comes to life as you guys just heard. In my opinion, it's going to be the perfect middle-of-the road catback. Meaning it's not going to be too aggressive and it's definitely not too mild. These systems aren't exactly cheap. In fact, the Corsa systems are some of the priciest here on the site. But with that in mind, those of you who are prepared to throw down a rather large investment on a quality catback will not be disappointed and here's why. You're getting full 304 grade stainless steel from tip to tip, 3" mandrel-bent tubing, beautiful welds, the included double helix X-pipe of course, and 4-1/2" tips. Polished is going to be your stock option. You can spend a few more dollars and opt for the black chrome, which I have on the table with me here. And last but not least we have the Touring Series mufflers. Now I know what you're thinking: "Touring series? I thought this was a Sport Catback?" Well, here's the deal, guys. Corsa has essentially created four different systems using only two mufflers. You start with the Touring Series muffler here, add in their double helix X-pipes, and you they have the Sport Catback. Start with a slightly more aggressive Sport Axleback, add in that same X-pipe, and now you have the more aggressive extreme cat-back. I know it sounds a little confusing, but you can consider yourself brought up to speed. The mufflers also include Corsa's patented RSC Technology or reflective sound cancellation, which basically means these things are going to offer plenty of bark when you're on the loud pedal but are going to be whisper quiet and drone free when you're cruising on the highway. As you guys just heard, the Corsa definitely delivers some solid tone. It is pretty aggressive. So for that reason we'll call it a four-out-of-five on my one-to-five "I don't want to wake the neighbors" scale. Now my opinion, it is the perfect cat-back. It's not too loud. It's not too quiet. The Corsa Extreme, if you are going to sheer volume, then that is going to be the cat-back for you. This styles it down a notch or two, and again it's just right in the middle. It's not going to be too crazy or obnoxious but it's still going to be heard when you're on the road. All right, guys, we talked about a lot of things so far in this video. Now let's get into the install. One of the nice things about the cat-back systems for the new S550 GTs is they require no cutting for the most part. That's certain true here with the Corsa. This is a direct bolt-on modification, it's an easy one-out-of-three wrenches on my difficulty meter, maybe an hour or two worth of your time when it's all said and done. I will say it's a little easier if you do have an extra set of hands on hand ready to help you out here. But either way, figure some basic hand tools and you'll be making noise in no time. The Corsa Sport is one of my top three favorite catbacks for the new S550 GT and here's why. It offers a tone that's going to be get you heard. It's not going to be obnoxious yet it's still livable even if and when long tube headers do get factored into the equation. If you're cool with selling a kidney to get a top quality premium exhaust system, then you're definitely going to love the Corsa Sport. Available here at

Ask a Question

Which long tube headers is compatible with this catback, need to buy any adapter?

  • This corsa has a 2.5" step down so any header combination would work as long as the mid pipe has the necessary flange or adapter(which can be bought or modified very easily) to fit over the 2.5" adapter.

Is there a particular reason as to why this is not compatible with the 2015-2017 V6? I've been unsuccessful in finding an answer. Does Corsa have this exhaust in a V6 version? Please and thank you! :)

  • This exhaust is specifically designed to be a direct fit for the GT. A V6 has a different engine, transmission and exhaust system as well as suspension. While it might be able to be made to fit, it will need modification. You would be better off buying an exhaust specifically designed for a V6. Corsa may make them for the V6 but we do not offer them.

If I install this, will i be able to add long tube headers later on or will the x-pipe need to be replaced?

  • You would not need to replace the stock headers as long as your purchase long tube headers that have the connection pipe to mate it with the x-pipe.

    Defective - Sounds awful

Since I installed the exhaust I've had nothing but issues with it. This exhaust rattles at idle and low speeds and sounds really bad. I took it to an exhaust performance exhaust shop and they couldn't find anything wrong with the installation. It's soupposed to have a warranty through corsa, but they are the hardest people to reach and do not return phone calls or reply to emails. My stock exhaust sounded better than this $1,500 exhaust. I had the Borla S type before this exhaust on my previous mustang and it sounded great! Recommend Borla over Corsa.

    Incredible Cat Back System

I'm in my early 40's and wanted the perfect exhaust for my 2016 Mustang GT daily driver, without being offensive and overstated. Corsa Extreme was too loud for my liking and I needed to be considerate of my neighbors. If you desire a system that is as quiet as stock when cruising and "loud" when you mash your foot into the throttle, with NO drone, this is the perfect cat-back system. You control the on/off switch. It's loud on cold start up and upon hard acceleration. Man, the exhaust note sure is purrty when your on it! My wife loves the stock sound when cruising around town. This is NOT an obnoxious exhaust system. She didn't know I changed the exhaust until I passed another car. Absolutely ZERO drone, no matter what the speed or RPM. I did the install by myself in around 2-3 hours, with a jack, 4 stands, 13mm socket, 15mm socket, 1/2" Ryobi battery operated impact driver, torque wrench, 1/2" ratchet. Also, used a hockey puck with a cut out in it, as wide as the reinforced rail, to avoid damage to the jack point rail. No special tools required. Corsa provides clear instruction and torque spec of 45 ft/lbs. Tons of install videos online. I used CJ pony parts video. The most difficult step was getting the Corsa 3" to 2.5" adapters to slide into the stock exhaust manifold sleeves, in front of the stock resonator. Used WD-40 and loosened the clamps all the way. In addition, adjusting the black chrome tail pipes in the rear valence takes some time. Still not quite right. All in all, completely satisfied and blown away by this system. Well worth the $$$$$. If you're on the fence about this one, don't be. Incredible exhaust system for guys that want 100 improved sound over stock, but not extreme. Things to consider, if you're in California and plan to add catted headers, reviews show that this system is perfectly balanced. Many guys have added headers to the Corsa extreme, only to find out it's unreasonably "LOUD". Plan ahead. Hope this helps.

An expensive noise maker but well worth it! Elegant rumble and totally changes performance of my pony. A bit of a knuckle buster installing alone but take your time and it comes together. No Regrets!

    Throaty with a slight rasp

The install was easy with the car on jack stands. Have the necessary equipment and it will go smooth. Re-torque the bolts once heat cycled enough. The volume on the site does not do it justice as this is not the extreme but still quite loud especially in a garage on cold mornings. Quiet on cruise and very very slight resonance at low rpm under load.

Easily the best exhaust for the GT

The fit and finish is amazing. The sound is breathtaking. Install was easy. (Make sure you grab some exhaust paste before you begin. You'll want to get the slip joints sealed.) This is without a doubt the best exhaust I've ever owned for any vehicle. The price is a little steep but well worth it for the quality. I was looking for an exhaust that could change its personality without spending crazy money on an electronically controlled active exhaust system (like the new Roush system) and this one delivers. At warm idle or cruising on the highway it can totally disappear and it sounds and feels like you still have a stock exhaust system, but if you downshift or punch it this thing roars to life. The tone is exactly what I was looking for. Not too raspy or chainsaw-like, it feels refined and powerful. If you have a Performance Pack car the black tips look awesome paired with the factory wheels. I was going to skip them and paint the tips black myself but the black-chrome finish on these is very nice. Much better looking than any high heat enamel paints. Before this system I had the Ford Racing X-pipe and stock axle back. This is a huge improvement.

    Exceeded my expectations!!!

I have listen to every video clip on YouTube and I can tell you they definitely don't do this exhaust justice. I was afraid it would not be loud enough, but I new I didn't want the extreme version. To my surprise it is louder than I expected, but not to loud. I wouldn't change a thing with the sound note and the loudness for the Corsa Sport exhaust. The fun factor for my Mustang just doubled! Side note when you are cruising at speed the exhaust sound just disappears no drone what so ever.

    Amazing sound

Like all the reviews have said, loud when you give it the gas but stock quiet at cruising speeds. Zero drone. This thing has a punch and I can't even imagine the amount of sound the Xtreme would put out. This gave me exactly what I was looking for. I paid $7 to rent a lift at the military base to get these installed. It's as easy as any video says it is. Removing stock exhaust took about 10 min and installing this Corsa took about 20. I did have a second pair of hands which I would highly suggest. On your own will be a bit tougher. If you're considering this setup you will not. E disappointed.

    The perfect Catback

After installing this mod I was extremely satisfied with the sound and loudness. First I was going between the Xtream, and the sport. After comparing both and watching many videos I figured the Xtream was to loud, but I was scared that the sport would be to quiet. THIS SYSTEM SCREAMS ONCE YOU PASS 4K RPMS!!! I LOVE THIS.

    I have no words

I listened to all the video clips, just like everyone else. I had 12 tabs open in my we browser, and each video paused at the exact moment for the close up on the exhaust sound. Too many of them sounded like empty wide open truck exhausts and some had too much snap crackle and pop. This exhaust is exactly as advertised. You can go virtually unnoticed up to 3k RPM's and your neighbors will love you. But once you're on the open road and get on it, everyone within an 15 car radius will know you're there. New England weather just got above 60, so it's windows down everyday to listen to the GT purr.

    Definitely One of the Best

I have had the exhaust for about a year now. I went with the sport because I didn't want the exhaust to be too loud or too soft. I made the right decision by getting the sport cat-back.

    Corsa sport cat-back

This system is amazing. At first the system was very quiet and I was a little disappointed in how hard I had to push the throttle to hear a louder note from the exhaust. After two weeks of having this system installed it has definitely gotten more of a louder tone which makes me happy. Looking forward to what long tube headers does to the loudness and sound. Would recommend this product to anyone who is sceptical about the corsa extreme as this system is going to be better suited for daily driving use.
