Hey, everybody. I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and this is going to be my review of the Corsa Xtreme Catback Exhaust System available for your 2015 and up Mustang GT Fastback in your choice of either a black or polished tip. Corsa actually got their start making high-end exhaust systems for marine and boat use back in the '80s. Their systems were such a hit that they figured they'd try the automotive world and, as a result, the Corsa Exhaust Systems have been a favorite with many car owners ever since. All right, with that out of the way, let's get down to business. Now the Corsa Xtreme is going to be for the S550 owner out there who is looking for quite possibly one of the loudest Catbacks available on the market today.
Now, as you guys just heard, this thing certainly delivers in the tone and volume department and so for that reason alone this is a strong five out of five on the one-to-five, or one-to-wake the neighbors scale and it's going to be awesome. Now it's going to be a little bit more high-pitched, too. A lot of you guys have actually pointed out on the reviews that it has almost an exotic kind of sound to it and that's largely in part here thanks to the unique double helix, or double X pipe design as Corsa calls it, unique to the Corsa systems, working in conjunction here with these straight through mufflers and it's going to give you that higher pitch tone. A little bit more raspy, of course. Now if you're looking for the volume but maybe you want something a little deeper toned, may I make the suggestion of checking out the Borla S-type or the Borla Stinger. It's still going to offer plenty of volume, but it's going to have a little deeper tone to it.
Getting back to the Corsa Xtreme here, now I like to refer to the Xtreme as the Jekyll and Hyde of the exhaust world because, yes, it can be crazy loud and melt faces when you're on the pedal, but it can also be whisper quiet when you're lugging around town or cruising on the highway. And that's always been one of the big pros with the Corsa system. A lot of companies say that their exhausts don't drone but Corsa defines zero drone. It's the benchmark. Now I've actually had a Corsa Xtreme on my '14 before, one of my favorite systems for the reasons I just mentioned. Again, super loud when you want it to be but super quiet when you want it to be. A lot of this is due to the tech and the design in the systems themselves. Corsa uses the patented RSC technology, or reflective sound cancellation which, again, is going to give you the best of both worlds.
That RSC technology in addition to the killer quality Corsa is always known for is certainly going to push this Catback into the premium or high-dollar price range here. But, as the old cliché goes, "You get what you pay for." Looking at the build quality here, guys, full 304-grade stainless steel starting with the Xtreme mufflers. Again, straight through by design. We're also looking at three-inch mandrel-bent tubing throughout. Again, full stainless. The double helix unique X-pipe here with the Corsa system, it is going to help give you that raspy note as you guys heard a little earlier. And, finally, we have the four-and-a-half inch Pro Series slash-cut tips available in either a polished finish, which is going to be the stock option here when you order the system or, for an extra 100 bones, you can opt for the black chrome finish. Now normally, guys, I would say paying an extra $100 for tips might be a little crazy but the black chrome is totally baller here with the Corsa system and it's actually going to discolor nicely as it goes through a few heat cycles.
Getting to the install here at the Corsa Xtreme, really not that bad thanks to the independent rear suspension. So figure removing the factory system and installing the new Corsa in its place really isn't going to be that big of a deal. For that reason alone, we're going to give it a strong one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. Again, not hard, just a little cumbersome especially when you're dealing with this larger X-pipe here. So if you have an extra set of hands, maybe attached to a friend or relative to help you out, it's certainly going to make life a whole lot easier. Figure about an hour or two before you're making noise here with this system and, again, basic hand tools, jack, jack-stands, or a set of ramps and you should be good to go.
So if you're on the search for both volume and quality from your new GT's exhaust, I can assure you you're going to get plenty of both here with the Corsa Xtreme. While pricey, it continues to be one of the favorites on AmericanMuscle.com.
