Review & Installation Video

Hey guys, Paul from Bama Performance here. We just finished running our bowling style 2015 competition orange Ford Mustang GT on the Dyno, made 382 wheel horse power, and 360 foot pounds of torque with nothing but 93 octane in the tank. Now, for those of you who watched our last videos that are black 2015 made down much less at 369 wheel horsepower. I'm not sure where the power differences are, but maybe some future development will let us know. All right guys, so what I'm about to do is test out Bama 93 track too, I've already loaded it into the car. We're going to run it on to the Dyno, and let's see what the results are. All right guys, we just finished running our Bama Performance 93 track tune, and I'm really happy with the results. We made 403 wheel horsepower, 383 foot pounds of torque, compared to stock guys, we picked up 22 horsepower, and 23 foot pounds of torque peak gains, and 31 horsepower in 47 foot pounds of torque. This thing feels like a rocket ship, the throttle response is amazing. We've got a 2015 JLT Cold Air Intake, we're getting ready to install in the car. We're going to reflash the computer with our Bama 93 track tune exclusively for this intake. We're going to run it on the Dyno, and see what the results are. All right guys, we just finished testing our Bama 93 track tune, and the JLT Cold Air Intake on this 2015 Mustang GT, and the results are amazing. We made 412 wheel horsepower, 382 foot pounds of torque. Now over stock that's 30 wheel horsepower, and 23 foot pounds of torque peak gains, and throughout the curve we made 34 wheel horsepower, and 47 foot pounds of torque. Some of you guys may be asking why do we not make a ton of power over just the tune down low, especially those torque numbers. And it just results into efficiency and airflow. That stock air box, it works really well until the upper RPM range, and now that's when the JLT really starts to shine. All right guys, that about sums it up for the day. We finished doing our initial development with our 2015 Mustang GT tunes, and the JLT Cold Air Intake. We spent some additional time with the Ecoboost, and I can't wait to see what we'd do when we get our hands on the V6. If you want to keep up with our 2015 content, click on the subscribe button below. If you're not watching us on YouTube, head on over to our page, American Muscle Videos. I'm Paul from Bama Performance, we'll see you guys later.

More Usable Horsepower. With a JLT Performance Cold Air Intake and a custom tune installed on your 2015-2017 GT you can expect to see a huge jump in horsepower and torque at the rear wheels. The cold air intake itself is good for 15 RWHP and 12 RWTQ, but when combined with the required tune you can expect to see up to an additional 37 horsepower and 26 ft/lbs. of torque at the rear wheels over stock. In addition to an increase in power you will also see an impressive improvement in driving performance.

110mm MAF Housing. This JLT Cold Air Intake Kit has a unique design that incorporates a 110mm MAF housing right into the tube for a clean factory appearance (MAF not included).

Heat Shield Included. The JLT Performance Cold Air Intake includes a roto molded ABS plastic heat shield that not only looks great, but blocks out excessive under hood engine heat at low speed and idle that can rob you of power.

Money Saving Reusable Filter. This JLT Cold Air Intake kit comes complete with a high flow reusable S&B brand oiled air filter. So that means there is no need to go out and buy a new filter every few thousand miles. Now you can just clean the filter, re-oil it, save money, and go!

Required Upgrade. Installation of this Cold Air Intake will require the use of a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for operation.

Application. This JLT Cold Air Intake is specifically designed for use on the 2015-2017 5.0 GT Mustang with either a manual or automatic transmission. Requires a new computer tune.

The install was very easy. I feel more of a pool when I am accelerating. Of course I had the Bama tune with the intake because that's recommended. Can't go wrong with this modification.

Why exactly does it NEED a tune. There are other systems that don't require a tune.

AldenM

  • The JLT Cold Air Intake Kit has a larger MAF housing. The tune is needed so that the car can properly adjust to the increase in airflow.

Will this fit with a gt350 manifold with 87mm throttle body? If not is there an adapter ?

Abrowndriver

  • The only fitment issues you may have are with the coupler. You can always purchase a larger coupler to ensure everything is fitting properly.

I'm interested in purchasing this intake but it rains alot where i live and i have the Cervinis Air Ram Hood, should i be concerned about driving in the rain with this intake?

Tyler

  • The JLT Cold Air Intake Kit will be able to be used with the Cervini's Ram Air Hood - Unpainted item #390836 (http://www.americanmuscle.com/cervinis-ram-air-hood-1516.html). The position of the heat extractors and the ram air openings are in placers where rain will not get to the intake unless there is a downpour.

I am looking to add a new throttle body to go along with this bigger intake. what would be the best size to shoot for, to get the best out of the set up? I am in a 2017 gt premium with performance pack.....was not on the pull down list and had to chose 2016 instead.

lerdo

  • Since your car is naturally aspirated I would recommend the BBK 85mm Throttle Body Item #389762 (http://www.americanmuscle.com/bbk-85mm-throttlebody-1516gt.html). This throttle body paired up with the JLT Cold Air Intake Kit and a tune, it will be like you are driving a whole new car.

    Very good gains

This JLT kit works great. Did notice the hp gains. It needs a tune so can't judge it by itself. The intake temps lower quickly as you drive to very close to ambient temp.

    Nice CAI !

I purchased this cold air intake along with a Diablosport i2 tuner. It has made quite a difference in midrange and top end performance. The CAI fits perfectly and installs quite easily in under 15 minutes. The required tune installs even quicker! Ford has made it kind of difficult to remove the "sound tube", but with a little patience, it comes off and cleans up the drivers side engine compartment quite nicely as well. I would definitely recommend this CAI to anyone looking for a quality part!

    Must Get!

This was one of my first mods for my 2015 Mustang GT. JLT CAI, Kooks 1-7/8 Cat Less Long Tubes, F/R O/R X-Pipe, Flowmaster Outlaws and a 91 Race Tune (Lund). Power output was 432 RWHP and 401 TQ. I'm not extremely sure how much the CAI itself had to do with it, All I know is that I was impressed and WILL RECOMMEND this to anyone looking to do some modding.

Quality piece with good fit and finish. A little more induction noise (which I like) and improved performance overall. Combined this product with a throttlebody spacer and X4 tuning.

    Pretty decent gains!

Bought the jlt and tune combo. Was definitely worth the money for my first mods. Was pretty simple to install and didn't take long at all. The intake sounds awesome, along with the tune I was able to hang right with my buddys 2012 5.0 with his tune and airraid intake.

Best intake out there right now.

Very good design and a good quality intake. Recommended to me by dynojet. He is one of the best mustang tuners in the country so that's a lot coming from him. Only downfall is that you need the tuner with it but I was planning on getting it anyway.

    Jlt

Installing the intake from start to finish was less than an hour with basic tools. There wasn't one part that I had to scratch my head and think about. It went right in and fit perfect. This Jlt intake not only looks great, it sound great too. This intake performs well at high rpm a little sluggish on low rpm to be expected, but Bama tuners did a great job of adjusting to make it feel good throughout the rpm.
