    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, here with my breakdown of the Corsa extreme axle back exhaust system fitting all 2011 and newer Mustangs. Corsa exhaust systems are no doubt one of the nicer options available for any Mustang, in addition to being one of the most advanced. Corsa incorporates the reflective sound cancellation technology or RSC as they call it, and give you the best of both worlds, an exhaust that’s going to be quiet and drone free on the highway while cruising, and one that’s going to absolutely scream and be angry whenever you’re on the throttle. Now if you’re not watching this video on our site already and you want to learn more about that RSC technology or the Corsa in general, just go ahead and click the link below to head back to the product page. Besides the technology that goes into these mufflers the build and quality of materials is also very impressive, the extreme utilizes a 304 grade stainless construction throughout, 3” piping, beautiful welds, and finally these mirror polished 4” tips, etched with the Corsa logo which as you can see do feature a very unique slash cut. Most exhaust will feature a straight up and down slash cut, but you can see the Corsa here utilizes a more side to side cut. That side to side cut actually features and fits the lines of the rear end in my opinion than the straight up and down cuts, just makes for a much cleaner appearance in the rear end. Installation shouldn’t involve anything out of the ordinary and can easily be done in about an hour using some standard hand tools. Before we jump into those sound clips I just want to remind you guys that we always try to bring you the best sound clips and exhaust clips possible, of course you get to hear a bunch of different sound clips in addition to my overviews so if you want to stay up to date with all the latest exhaust vids for your car, in addition to some other great content, just subscribe to our YouTube channel by clicking on the link below. Now let’s hear how the Corsa extreme axle back sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

Xtreme Aggressive Sound. The Corsa Xtreme axleback system is acoustically styled and engineered to give your Mustang a throaty aggressive sound under acceleration and a deep growl at idle all without interior cabin drone.

RSC™ Technology. Corsa designs their mufflers using their own patented Reflective Sound Cancellation® Technology (RSC™) to give your Mustang an aggressive sound under acceleration and a drone-free experience while cruising.

Quality Construction. Corsa Axle-back systems are manufactured in the USA from premium grade 304 stainless steel for a long life and a perfect fit. The system features two straight-through mufflers that end with mirror polished 4" Pro-Series tips, that exit in the stock location for impressive good looks.

Application. The Corsa Xtreme Axle-Back Exhaust is designed as a direct fit bolt-on upgrade for the 2011-2014 GT and 2012-2013 BOSS Mustangs.

I have the Magnaflow Competition Catback on my 2012 GT. Would installing these require just bolting off the mufflers on the Magnaflow Catback and bolting on the Corsa in their place up to the Magnaflow over-axle piping, or is there cutting required with my current exhaust?

        • The Corsa Xtreme Axle-Back Exhaust w/ Black Tips will install in place of the Magnaflow muffler assemblies on the Magnaflow Competition Cat-Back Exhaust without the need for cutting.

What over axle pipes are recommended to be used with the corsa extremes?

        • We only offer an LTH and Borla overaxle pipe that both come out to 2.75 inches in diameter. This axleback is 3 inches, so modification would be necessary for proper fitment.

What over axle pipes are these supposed to be used with?

        • There is no dedicated set of over-axle pipes these have to be used with.

Will these fit the borla over axle pipes?

        • Unfortunately the Borla over axle pipes will only work with Borla exhaust setups.

2013 Mustang GT Corsa Xtreme exhaust install.

Put the stang on a few ramps to raise it some. It is a bit difficult to remove the old exhaust but once you do it's not hard at all. Worth every penny. Smile is a bit bigger when driving now. Love the way it makes the rear look. Sounds great! Deep growl. When you stomp on it, it gets even better. best part though, NO DRONE!!!

            Corsa Extreme

This exhaust is top notch quality. It looks amazing and sounds even better. For an axle back this thing will melt faces. Corsa claims zero drone and is 100 true. If ur looking for sexy and loud and a super easy install this is for you!!!!

Quiet when needed; loud when wanted

When I first start it up and it is idling, it is very quiet. When I roll the windows up and I am sitting at a stoplight, it is quieter than stock exhaust. All of that is a good thing for the following reason: When I stomp on it, it sounds loud and absolutely amazing!! I have not heard any other mustang exhaust that sounds this good!! I have the option of waking everyone up in the neighborhood, or driving off quietly in the morning. As a adult with a house, wife, and two kids, I did NOT want something that sounds like a redneck, Saturday night dirt track, race car. This sounds loud, mean, and high-quality muscle!! As far as installation goes, it could not have been easier. Everything lines up perfectly, and it is a very lightweight product. As long as the car is up in the air, anybody can install it with simple tools. I did notice some discrepancies with the instructions versus what you should actually do to install it, but is easily figured out. There are two 5.0 Mustang‘s at my work. One is a FlowMaster, the other is a Roush. Mine is by far louder and better sounding!! Mine tells everyone I am arriving to work. EVERYONE!! To sum it up, this is one of the most expensive axle-back exhausts you can buy, and I would have paid more for this exhaust because not only is it exactly what I wanted, but it is also the highest quality product and greatest sound I could buy!

            Corsa Extreme

amazing fit, bolted right up, the tone is VEEEERY raspy for those that are not looking for that, (that is what i wanted). no drone on the highway, screams up top. tons of popping on the way down between shifts and when decelerating. one of the exhaust tips does reach out farther than the other one however, but that might be the way i mounted it.

            LOUD

When I say loud I mean EXTREMELY loud. These axle-backs really opened up my 5.0. I have BBK long tube headers, catted x-pipe, and corsa xtreme axle-backs and the thing SCREAMS. I knew it was going to be loud by reading the reviews but I did not expect them to be as loud as they are. The nice part is, if you shift early and keep it under 2500rpms, they are fairly quiet. Once you start climbing up in RPM’s though, they are stupid loud. Cold starts are almost unbearable from behind the car. They are not too raspy but have a great lower tone when driving (not nearly as low as the Roush’s). Very very little drone on highway doing 70 in 6th. Even though this is the loudest setup I have ever heard, I absolutely LOVE them. No drone, you can be quiet when you want, and the finish and look of them is beautiful. The pops and crackles are amazing as well. If you are on the fence about brands, put Corsa to the top because the build quality and finish is spot on and the no drone is great. I came from a set of flowmaster American thunders that droned so bad.

            Excellent

Absolutely the best decision to buy these.i had the flowmaster outlaw which were loud in and out of the car but these corsa extreme make you forget how loud they really are because they are really quiet on the inside of the car but the outside completely opposite. Worth every penny.

Review from Corsa Xtreme Axle-Back Exhaust w/ Black Tips (11-14 GT; 12-13 BOSS 302)

            Great Product! Poor Service...

I installed these mufflers on my 2012 Mustang GT. The sound is perfect and the quality is high. However, I received my mufflers with a manufacturing defect. The driver side muffler had a noticeable blemish on the driver side exhaust tip. This did not happen during the install as there was plastic blocking where the damage was. I didn't notice the blemish until I took the plastic off and got it in the sunlight. AmericanMuscle.com offered a $50 credit to remedy this. I don't feel that this is acceptable service from American Muscle. These mufflers cost $900 and the tips are welded, so they are not easily replaced - let alone for $50. AM should have offered a replacement themselves. However, I contacted Corsa and they sent a replacement. I would give AM 2 stars at best. The mufflers are 5 stars and so is Corsa, but I knocked a star because I shouldn't have to deal with any blemishes on a $900 axle-back setup, but I understand that it happens from time to time. The exhaust is great. I'm very disappointed with my first experience with AmericanMuscle.com.

Neighbors not up? They are now!

I was hesitant paying that amount of money for just axle-Backs. I am sure glad I did, as the old adage states, you get what you pay for. And these are top notch! The tone at a cold start up is outstanding, and you will def turn heads at WOT, or even at 5000RPMs. One of the best features: no drone whatsoever while cruising at 2000RPMs. The picture of the black tips does not do it justice at all. These things are plain sexy. Install was pretty straight forward. Used jack and jack stands. Get yourself a helper and save ya some headaches. The worst part was taking the stock ones off. If you're on the fence, take the leap and get these. You'll be glad you did!

I was skeptic at first paying x amount of $$$ for just axle backs, but it did not take much to convince me at the AM 2018 Show. Love the fit and finish, sounds awesome, NO DRONE!! Quite the had turner.

I put these on right before Street Machine Nationals. and I have to say, even with all those cars cruising up and down the streets, people's heads still turned towards mine when I went by. Everything fit perfectly, and honestly I am quite new to working on cars. So as one of the first things I tried, it was extremely easy. It took me about an hour, give or take to do, and the results are FANTASTIC. When you are just going through town, its quiet enough not to draw unwanted attention, but when you want it to be noticed, it really can be. The sound is highly aggressive. In addition, it looks fantastic. I recommend Corsa as the go to.

Wow! Where do I start, first make sure you have right tools and an extra set of hands to make the install a bit easier. Took me about an hour and a half with help. Once installed all the frustration you suffered while installing while be gone FAST. The exhaust note is beautiful when you step on it yet quite calm upon idle(if warmed up) and cruising speed. Also absolutely no drone. Great option and totally worth the price thank you AM

            No drone

After doing a car delete and pypes bomb, that was just wayyyyy too much drone on the highway it hurt to drive it. So I bit the bullet and splurged on the corsa extremes becaus of all the reviews. And there is NO drone at highway speeds but once you floor it sounds like the world is coming to an end. Plenty of pops and other wonderful noises. One bad thing is my fuel economy went down cuz I'm always flooring it just to hear it.

            Amazing exhaust note. Disappointed until….

I wanted to wait a few weeks before writing my review so that I could list pros and cons. This took longer than my Flowmaster American Thunders to install. Follow the instructions…more things have to be disconnected than with the Flowmasters. It took about 3 hours with help. When I took my first cruise with these, I was both elated and disappointed. The constant drone of the Flowmasters was gone and that was such a huge relief. At WOT it sounded beautiful! Something like a Harley at times and a Nascar at other times (depeding on the gear/rpms maybe). Just incredible. Going under a bridge at WOT made me so happy! However, I felt that the system was pretty close to stock unless I was at WOT. Even sitting at a light with the top down, the exhaust was so quiet. I paid good money for these and…maybe this is just me…I want people to know this is no stock Mustang. I missed the rumble the Flowmasters provided when passing people. I debated what to do for several days. I thought about purchasing the complete catback. Maybe THAT would be louder and make me happy. After all, most of the videos I watched were of the complete catback. Wifey could not comprehend why I was not satisfied with a $700 exhaust. She said I would never be happy with the sound and I insisted that at some point I would be. Deleting the catalytic converters (it is already tuned) was another option and would save a lot of money over purchasing the x pipe from Corsa. I worried that I would seriously regret removing the cats and that my wife would hate the car. It gave me so much anxiety. It's a convertible and I’m not in my twenties after all. Am I going to walk into work smelling like exhaust fumes? I also wanted to run the ghost cam on the weekends and removing the cats is a must if you want to be able to hear...really hear...the cam sound. I figured I could always go back. I finally found a shop that would do the work for $150 and pulled the trigger. I could not be more content. Removing the cats made this exhaust a beast. Best of all, I can still control the volume. When my wife drives the car like a grandma, the exhaust is barely noticeable. Seriously. She did not even notice when she drove it. When I am in the mood (almost always) to hold the gear, let the RPMs run up, and downshift, the car sounds like it eats children! The pops and crackles are great music. I absolutely love it! The ghost cam sounds amazing. When I punch it on the interstate, the sound is unreal. I smile every time. I can switch gears and make it more or less aggressive. If I get a phone call, I can quite it down completely. The cons of this setup are an unbelievably loud cold start for the first ten seconds and an occasional short not-so-refined raspy note that happens maybe once every couple of hours (perhaps when I am in the wrong gear). On the cold start, if you live in an apartment complex and leave in the early morning, you might want to think twice. The houses are pretty close together here and I am waiting to hear from the neighbors LOL. Still, it's less than ten seconds and it calms down. If you are on the fence, buy this exhaust! Corsa knows what’s up! If you are not completely happy, pull those cats off. I wish I would have deleted them day one.
