    Review & Install Video

Hey I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and this is my brief look into the Flowmaster Outlaw series axle back, fitting all 2013 Mustang GTs, and GT500's. If you're looking for a system that will really allow your 5.0 or 5.8L to be heard, then this is it, Flowmaster calls this their most aggressive axle back available for the new V8's, thanks to the two Outlaw series straight through mufflers, that should really help uncork the exhaust flow. Like many other Flowmaster exhaust, the Outlaw series is constructed using durable 409 grade stainless steel, and does feature 2.5" mandrel bent tubing. The exhaust is also finished off in that sleek black finish, which is great at resisting corrosion. Finally, everything exits out these dual 4" tips embossed with that iconic Flowmaster logo. Installation on this axle back is very straightforward and should only take you about an hour in the driveway using basic hand tools. Now let's hear how Flowmaster's Outlaw series axle back sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

Super Aggressive Flowmaster Sound. Give your Coyote powered Mustang that unmistakable Flowmaster sound with the Outlaw Series Axle-Back Exhaust System from AmericanMuscle. This system improves exhaust flow using Flowmaster's race-oriented style Outlaw mufflers for that super, aggressive exhaust note your high powered Pony deserves.

Stainless Steel Construction. Constructed from durable 2.75" 16 gauge 409 stainless steel tubing for it's corrosion resistant properties, the Flowmaster Outlaw Axle-back features two race-oriented mufflers with massive 4.0" diameter polished stainless steel tips for impressive muscle car looks and sound. As an added bonus the tips are embossed with the "Flowmaster" logo for true custom styling.

Application. This Flowmaster Outlaw Series Axle-Back Exhaust System is designed to fit the 2013-2014 GT and BOSS Mustangs for both great looks and great sound. Reuses the factory clamps for installation.

What do I need to be able to put these on my 2014 V6?

    MartinR

    • Unfortunately, this Flowmaster Outlaw Series Axle-Back Exhaust is specifically designed for use on 13-14 GT model Mustangs and would not fit properly on 13-14 V6 model Mustangs.

Do this come with dual tip, so it can go with my GT500 valance ?

    PatrickD

    • We do not have a quad tip option for this exhaust. Yes it would fit your valance.

I have a 2010 v6mustang I know the piping is 2.5 with stock but can I get a bigger pipe as well so it fits the 2.75 cause these sound so amazing and I really want to run them

    Sessamen

    • Yes you are able to fabricate the exhaust to work together if you do not mind doing a little custom work, however as a heads up these will not sound the same on your V6 as they do on a Mustang GT.

Hi. In the customer reviews there are a lot of comments about the droning sound at approx 2000 revs. Do you have any recommendations to prevent / limit this? I am keen to buy this product but cautious about the droning.

    FrankT

    • Hey Frank, As far as the outlaw system goes there is really no way to avoid the droning. this system is supposed to be as loud as loud gets. If you are looking for that same exhaust note but maybe not as loud i would look at the Flow master Pro series (18459). That system has the same design with a little more restriction in the resonator to produce a tone not as loud as the outlaw which is more of a straight through design.

I am installing the Flowmaster axle back on my 2013 GT will this increase my horsepower

    WilburS

    • Unfortunately the Flowmaster Outlaw Series Axle-Back Exhaust will not add any additional horse power to the vehicle. This exhaust will allow the car to breathe easier making acceleration easier and throttle response.

Will these bolt up to a pypes catback exhaust 3in tubing? I would like to replace my pypes axleback mufflers for something louder and I'm wondering if these will bolt right up or would I need some adjustment to be done?

    Gonzo

    • Hello! The Flowmaster Outlaw Series Axle-Back Exhaust will not bolt right up to the Pypes 3 in Tubing. They are designed to mount up with the factory exhaust and will likely require some modification to work with your Pypes Cat Back

Heard many 5.0's with other exhausts such as SLP, BORLA and ROUSH and none of them have that burble that this axle back provides. With the new coyote motor, you miss out on the bubbly exhaust the 4.6 had. With this axle back, you get that burble back! So many people stop and ask me what I have done to the exhaust! Fit and finish was perfect! Easy 20 min install, especially because my car was brand new so all the hangers were still fresh and easy to take off! Thank you American Muscle for your continued service!

Super easy install, took about 40 mins. Sound is awesome. There is drone at 2k rpm's but who cares, turn the radio up. A 3.73 or 4.10 gear swap would probably fix this. I found using a small piece of 2x4 wedged between the cat back exhaust pipe and panhard bar support brace will allow easier removal of the factory axle back. While pushing up on the exhaust tip, with a little muscle, slide the muffler towards the front of the car and it will drop out of the hanger mounts. Have fun and enjoy.

Great Sound, Great Looks, Great Price, Easy Install

These Flowmaster Outlaws are amazing. No drone at all driving at 75 in my 2013 GT. At idle, they are barely louder than stock but much deeper and rumbley. When I rev it up it sounds like rolling thunder. Great smooth sound, not choppy. Around town getting through the gears it gets pretty loud, but as soon as you stop accelerating it quiets down again just as it should. Installation takes one wrench and about an hour, most of which is spent getting the bulky stock mufflers off. The 4 inch tips look great and really fill out the exhaust cutout in the bumper. I could not be more pleased with this product.

      Daily driver don't buy it.

I watched this exhaust video many times, but I still can't image how loudness this exhaust. I mean this one is really really loudness. The big complaint is the drone noise and the cab noise. I mean forget the your stereo or talk your passenger or talk on the phone. While you are driving you only can listen to drone noise and cab noise. I mean the exhaust looks nice, but the internal drone is sooooooo horrible. If you are daily driver, don't buy this exhaust. Right now I just want to return it. BTW i did a lot of research for 13GT exhaust, I will buy Roush Axle-Back Exhaust w/ Dual Chamber Tips (13-14 GT, BOSS, GT500) to instead it.

      Flowmaster Outlaw

I put this exhaust on my 13 GT about a month ago, and I've been extremely pleased with it. I was a little hesitant when I watched some videos on it online due to the raspy and poppy sound the cameras gave. But for the money I thought what the heck, it's just an axle-back what should I expect. I was in for a surprise though, this exhaust will make your 5.0 sound like a straight up monster. Very deep at an idle, and SCREAMS when you want it to. The drone is there, but heck it's a sports car you should wanna hear it. Only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is because SOMETIMES when at high RPMS it shoots out the top and loses its tone. Other than that, it's perfect for an axle-back. Lots of bang for the buck.

      Not 17 anymore

I had to be center of the road on this as the external exhaust note is great, but the internal drone is so horrible I have taken it off. If you are under the age of 25 you might like this, but as you get older (35) and have to talk to a client or passenger, forget it with this in the background. On the phone they can't hear you and if in the car you are yelling at each other just cruising at 60. I did contact flowmaster and by installing a resonator they state will remove all interior noise, but we will see. Also have to be careful as many don't realize but if you change one bolt from a factory ford you remove all of the warrantee from that point on. As for install, since the factory exhaust has little knobs at the end it is hard to get the leverage to just slip them out of the hangers. I ended up removing the hangers to get them off then reinstalling the hangers. 90% of the time was just removing the factory parts.

      Nice rumble.

If you want to add a beefy aftermarket muscular rumble to your s197 then this is the way to go. It's easy to install and is inexpensive. This is my first mod for my "13 gt. sounds great and my wife and I installed it in less than an hour thanks to the detailed instructions provided in the box. GET DAT! Sounds great. And uhm yes it's pretty loud. I can't wait to wake the neighbors.

      Loud! Loud! Loud!

If you want LOUD you will get LOUD. I choose Flowmaster Outlaw Axle-backs, because while I was shopping for a used 2014 Mustang GT, I heard them on one of the Mustangs I looked at and went WOW!!!! Went to a car show to hear other Axle-backs before making my decision, but other systems seemed to have a high pitched, raspy tone. Flowmaster Outlaw Axle-backs seemed to have a low, deeper pitched, Muscle Car sound. "Easy Install"...... I am not a young guy (60's) and after jacking up the car and placing jack stands under rear axle for safety, it took approx. 1 hour to install. Just follow the instructions and don't forget to install the 2 little round clips, to keep exhaust from sliding around. With Track Pack and 373 rear, mine, like everyone else say's, has an annoying drone at approx. 2000 RPM, but I wanted loud and I got loud. "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen" ........ Otherwise go for the Flowmaster Outlaw Axle-backs and enjoy your new found LOUDNESS!!!.

      Loud

All in all very happy with how they sound. From the stock axel back to flow masters it sounds like a completely different car! There is a slight drone at 2k Rpms but other then that I'd say it's a great purchase and puts a big smile on my face anytime time I start it up or I'm on driving the car. Highly recommend these you won't be disappointed!

      PERFECTION

I was stuck between getting these or the SLP Loudmouths. I'm glad I chose these because these DELIVER. They are loud. I turn on my car and everyone turns. Perfect when I'm cruising, you can hear it rumble from far. At WOT you can really hear that thunder just clap so everyone knows you're there. It has a perfect purr. Some people didn't believe me when I said it was just the axlebacks. Its extremely worth it and loud. Yes the drone is there at 2K rpms but it doesn't bother me at all. Gets covered with the radio or your chick yelling at you. Overall these are awesome. HIGLY RECOMMEND IT!

      Amazing

For the money it's an amazing sound. I belong to a car Club and even they were shocked. I thought I would get a lot of cab noise but only a light hum. Outside the car, you know I'm there. Very easy to install. I sometimes just start my car just to hear the rumble. I love it.

      Awesome is not enough

I ja e a 2010 GT last year for the 4.6. I listened to them on youtube, but just didnt know, so went ahead and got them, took a little over an hour, first start mad my heart skip, now I just cant get enough. I drive through town and people will stary looking before I am even close to them, my mustang now sounds like it should. Who cares about the drone noise, I see alot of people complain about that on here, my only complaint is the pain in my face from smiling so much after I drive now.

      Unbelievable!!!

These axle backs sound amazing. Music to my ears. The rumble during start up and acceleration is off the charts. I call them my new noise makers. Took about 1 1/2 hours in my driveway to install. Stock mufflers are a little difficult to remove from the rubber hangers, but a little lube will help out. There is a slight drone around 2k rpms. Nothing that's too difficult to handle. These axle backs crank up the sound of your V8 the way you love to crank up your favorite song. Highly recommend them.

      Get it

I've NEVER tackled anything like this before but installation videos seemed straight forward so I tried. Sounds great. Looks great. First couple days will be EXTREMELY load until carbon builds up. Use WD40 to remove old exhaust by spraying where old hangers come out of rubber mounts. Also, if it's still a little loud in the cabin, by some peel and seal for trunk and floor pan. Love my "new" mustang

      WOW! These things are loud!

At first, I was very skeptical. I looked at every single axle back that caught my eye, and believe me it was a hard decision, considering I was going off the reviews on here. Eventually I pulled the trigger on the Flowmaster Outlaw Series, and man, am I glad I did! They are loud (for only an axle back) and give your Stang that nice muscle car roar! If you're a fan of loud, GET THESE, don't hesitate. But be warned, there is a drone, mainly on the highway at 2k rpm, but besides that these are top notch! Like everyone else says, the longest part about the install is getting the stock axle back off, so once you get those off, it's pretty much smooth sailing!
