- How to Install an Axleback Exhaust on your 2011-2012 Mustang GT
Hey I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and this is my brief look into the Flowmaster Outlaw series axle back, fitting all 2013 Mustang GTs, and GT500's. If you're looking for a system that will really allow your 5.0 or 5.8L to be heard, then this is it, Flowmaster calls this their most aggressive axle back available for the new V8's, thanks to the two Outlaw series straight through mufflers, that should really help uncork the exhaust flow. Like many other Flowmaster exhaust, the Outlaw series is constructed using durable 409 grade stainless steel, and does feature 2.5" mandrel bent tubing. The exhaust is also finished off in that sleek black finish, which is great at resisting corrosion. Finally, everything exits out these dual 4" tips embossed with that iconic Flowmaster logo. Installation on this axle back is very straightforward and should only take you about an hour in the driveway using basic hand tools. Now let's hear how Flowmaster's Outlaw series axle back sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

I love my exhaust note now! Originally bought these for my 05 GT, but they droned a bit. I bought them for my 13 GT and they actually sound much better. There's still a bit of droning at low rpm, but nothing I can't live with.Helpful (3)

Flowmaster Outlaw Axle-Back Exhaust (13-14 GT)
I have had these on my 07 GT premium and now my 14 Coyote And the way these sound on the coyote is just demonic... guys that are completely stock out there and think these may not wake the sound and volume up, don’t worry they are LOUD. Best sounding exhaust for the 5.0 in my opinion as I’ve heard others in person. Just makes driving the car 10x more fun in any situation.. yes there is drone but I am the guy who LOVES the drama of the drone.Helpful (4)

EVERYTHING I HOPED FOR!!!
I could not be happier with my purchase! It feels like a new car all over again!! I had Flowmaster 40 series but they left me wanting more. The Outlaws fixed that!!! The sound is nasty mean and the drone isn't near as bad as I expected!! It's loud but not too uncomfortably loud. I had a conversation with the passenger the whole way no problem! This is a steal of a deal for the price! I 1000 would recommend to mustang owners!!Helpful (3)
I have a 2010 v6mustang I know the piping is 2.5 with stock but can I get a bigger pipe as well so it fits the 2.75 cause these sound so amazing and I really want to run them
Yes you are able to fabricate the exhaust to work together if you do not mind doing a little custom work, however as a heads up these will not sound the same on your V6 as they do on a Mustang GT.
What do I need to be able to put these on my 2014 V6?
Unfortunately, this Flowmaster Outlaw Series Axle-Back Exhaust is specifically designed for use on 13-14 GT model Mustangs and would not fit properly on 13-14 V6 model Mustangs.
I have kooks longtubes, off-road x pipe and Magnaflow rtr mufflers currently. If I were to change out my current axle back with this. What would it sound like? And also would it lose too much or if any back pressure?
I’m looking to purchase these mufflers second hand and the person selling them as them listed for the 2005-2009 and I have a 2013 gt Will these they’ll work out and will the sound be the same or are they different
The 05-09 model of this system will not fit 13-14 models.
My brother says he had these for his old car (08’ GT) and got a serious drone while at highway speeds, so much that people wouldn’t ride in the car if they knew it was getting on the highway. Are these exhausts any different from the ones that would go on at 08’ GT? Could they potentially not have the same drone at highway speeds?
Exhaust drones are possible with any aftermarket exhaust. Exhaust drone is primarily the result of sound waves traveling through the air and vibration that is transferred through a vehicle's frame, body and components. Different tips, mufflers, and exhaust pipe size can either create or get rid of exhaust drone. There is some drone associated with theFlowmaster Outlaw Axle-Back Exhaust for a 2013-14 GT, but overall due to the different body and design the drone between the 13-14 GTs and an 08 GT would not be the same.
The cat-back will have more of a complete exhaust tone when compared just an axle-back. You will also benefit from the cat-back more as all the pipes up to the cats will be replaced with stainless steel.
Fitment is slightly different on the 13-14 GT models. For the 11-12 GT, you would want this set: https://www.americanmuscle.com/flowmaster-outlaw-axleback-1112gt.html.
The Flowmaster Outlaw Series Axle-Back Exhaust will be CARB approved yes.
We do not have a quad tip option for this exhaust. Yes it would fit your valance.
Hey Frank, As far as the outlaw system goes there is really no way to avoid the droning. this system is supposed to be as loud as loud gets. If you are looking for that same exhaust note but maybe not as loud i would look at the Flow master Pro series (18459). That system has the same design with a little more restriction in the resonator to produce a tone not as loud as the outlaw which is more of a straight through design.
Unfortunately the Flowmaster Outlaw Series Axle-Back Exhaust will not add any additional horse power to the vehicle. This exhaust will allow the car to breathe easier making acceleration easier and throttle response.
Hello! The Flowmaster Outlaw Series Axle-Back Exhaust will not bolt right up to the Pypes 3 in Tubing. They are designed to mount up with the factory exhaust and will likely require some modification to work with your Pypes Cat Back
The factory axle-back already has a clamp, and these Flowmaster Outlaw Series Axle-Back Exhaust will re-use those clamps since they are the same style clamp.
You will need the Flowmaster Outlaw Series Axle-Back Exhaust (11-12 GT, 11-12 GT500), item # 18422, (http://www.americanmuscle.com/flowmaster-outlaw-axleback-1112gt.html) for your 2012 GT.
Hi, This axle back will not fit on a V6 Mustang because the GT uses larger connection piping than the stock V6.
