Peace of Mind. When replacing your clutch you have two options, resurfacing your old stock flywheel, or getting a brand new flywheel. A new flywheel is a much better choice than resurfacing, as the flywheel will dictate how well your clutch will perform, as well as how long it will last.

SFI Certified. If you're using this flywheel in high performance or racing applications, SFI Certification is critical so you can run your Pony at the track or strip. And it's great for peace of mind even in a daily driver - at higher RPMs, stock cast flywheels have been known to explode.

Application. This Ford Racing Flywheel fits the 1999-Mid 2001 GT, 1996-2004 Cobra, and 2003-2004 Mach 1 Mustangs and is the perfect replacement for your old worn flywheel.

Technical Note. This Ford Racing flywheel has an 8 bolt main that is found in the 1999-mid 01 Mustang GT's with production date ending on 06/01, 1996-2004 Mustang Cobra's, and 2003-2004 Mach 1's.

Please Note. Romeo built engines have 6 bolt cranks and Windsor built engines have 8 bolt cranks. If the 8th character in the VIN is an "X" its a Windsor block, if the 8th character in the VIN is a "W" it is a Romeo block. There is an exception to that rule as the 2001 Bullitt Edition Mustang feature a Romeo built engine. If unsure please check with your Ford dealer to determine if you have a 6 or an 8 bolt main.

Size? Is this an "11 inch" flywheel? Was told to BE SURE to match the flywheel size to the clutch. Ordering the McLeod Street Pro (400hp) for my 04 Mach 1, which is an 11" clutch...

    • Yes, fit my Mach perfectly. I bought the McCleod RSTclutch and they fit without issue. It's a better/beefer flywheel than the Mach1 was built with.

I'm running a Centerforce dual fricción clutch 11". Can I run this flywheel with my clutch? It's a Mustang with 8 bolts Main...

I just bought the Exedy Mach Stage 2 clutch for my 1997 cobra. Will this flywheel work with that clutch or is there a better flywheel choice?

    • If you have an Exedy clutch, it is recommended to pair it with an Exedy flywheel. We recommend going with the Exedy Lightweight Racing Flywheel, item # 62510, ( for your 1997 Cobra.

      Worth it!

I have about 1000 miles on this flywheel and new spec clutch. The flywheel installed perfectly and was of very high quality. There was a slight amount of surface rust upon receiving, but that was easily remedied.

      Where's the dowel pins?????

Not too happy to find out after 4000 miles I have a horrible clutch chatter. Only thing I could think of was the fact that there was no dowel pins on the new flywheel I was using!!! Now I'm going to have to get another flywheel and drop the trans again!

      Sturdy and Reliable

I wanted a very sturdy, reliable, affordable flywheel for my build. This flywheel fits the bill! I am using it with a McLeod RST twin disk clutch. No issues, just a good ford product. I will note that the dowel pins do not come with the flywheel. Overall, a great product.

Make sure you buy the pins with this Flywheel

I purchased this Flywheel and I thought I could use my old pins from my old Flywheel. They do not fit so with my car apart on a Saturday I was stuck. I call American Muscle and ordered the pin kit. These pins should be included with the Flywheel or at least there should be a note that shows the pin kit is required. I now have to wait another week to get my car back together. I am not happy!!!!

      Missing dowels

My mechanic said he's never seen a flywheel that didn't come with dowels. So beware. The lack of dowels cost me money, since they had to waste time extracting my old ones.

Great flywheel at a great price

I recently needed to upgrade my clutch and due to clutch failing decided to go with a new flywheel. I have always used Ford Racing components when possible and this flywheel did not disappoint. Installed with Exedy Mach 400 clutch and so far no issues. Don't forget to order the dowel and bolt kit to complete your install. Overall great feel. Highly recommended.

      Works with Exedy stage 1

Got it when I replaced my clutch with Exedy stage 1 on the mach 1. Everything feels great, so I don't know how much the flywheel helps or how much it's the new clutch. But it fits.

Amazing quality, especially for a Daily Driver and New clutch

I do highly recommend this. Its lighter and stronger than the factory flywheel ever was. Great feel, revvs a little faster due to the reduced weight. I paired this with an Exedy Mach 350 Stage 1 clutch and could not be happier. Ford Racing knows their stuff and made a great product on this one. Must have upgrade when doing a clutch job, and better than resurfacing your factory flywheel! Must buy, Ford Genuine parts are always a good call, especially if you aren't racing the car.

      Such a difference!

My clutch began to slip so I had a new clutch along with this flywheel installed. There is such a huge difference in the way my car grabs now. I would recommend this product to anybody! Plus it's Ford Racing, why wouldn't you put a performance product MADE by Ford on your Mustang? No brainer...

      Ford Racing Finest!

Great Price, Great Fit. Not lighter than Stock but that was expected with going steel instead of aluminum. Does not come with alignment dowels but ordered the dowel kit when I ordered the flywheel so no big deal. Works awesome with Exedy Stage 2 clutch, Ford Racing Throwout Bearing and Ford Racing pilot bearing.
