More Usable Horsepower. With a JLT Performance "Next Generation" Cold Air Intake installed under the hood of your 2001 Bullitt you can expect to see gains of up to 14-20 more horsepower at the rear wheels across the entire RPM range. In addition to an increase in horsepower you will also see an impressive improvement in throttle response.

105mm MAF Housing. With a massive 105mm MAF housing molded right into the tube you have a CAI kit you can grow into and not have to worry about buying new kit to reach 550-600 RWHP. Adding a blower? Simply drill out the pre-molded plug on the MAF block located on the bottom of the tube, install a SCT MAF sensor and electronics, add a huge 4.5 X 12” filter and you now have changed your JLT Cold Air Intake into a JLT High Boost 12” Intake.

Fender Well Induction. This JLT Cold Air Intake is designed to draw in cold air from the fender well, rather than the hot engine compartment. Which reduces the incoming airs temperature for better combustion resulting in more horsepower.

Money Saving Reusable Filter. JLT cold air intake kits come complete with a 4x6 high flow reusable S&B brand air filter. So that means there is no need to go out and buy a new filter every few thousand miles. Now you can just clean the filter, re-oil it, save money, and go!

Easy Installation. The JLT Performance "Next Generation" Cold Air Intake kit was designed to install with just basic hand tools. No extra modifications or special tools are required for an easy 1 hour installation.

CARB Certified. Best of all this Mustang JLT Performance Cold Air Intake Kit is 50-state smog legal under Carb EO# D-671.

Application. This JLT Performance "Next Generation" Cold Air Intake System is specifically designed for use on the 2001 Bullitt Mustangs equipped with the sohc 4.6L V8 engine and does not require re-tuning the vehicles computer for operation. Compatible with both 80mm and 90mm MAF's.

Technical Note. Will not fit with most strut tower braces.

Is hydrolocking really an issue? I daily drive my Bullitt, so it will see rain pretty frequently. Would puddle splash cause lock or would the filter have to be partially submerged?

    • No, you wouldn't have any issues with hydrolocking when using this intake. A lot of water would need to get into the engine before it would lock up.

Has anyone put this on their daily driver? I know the filter goes pretty low so I'm worried about it getting wet.

    • With the factory dust-pan and the fender-liners installed, the JLT Performance Next Generation Cold Air Intake will be isolated from moisture, including heavy rain and puddles. There are some intake pre-filters that are water resistant and would also add the benefit of filtering more air particles.

Since the MAF is inside the fender, does the MAF wiring need to be extended or otherwise modified? This is a Bullitt conversion on a 2001 Mustang GT Convertible. Is there any fitment problems using this JLT Bullitt CAI on a GT fascia? Thank you. Look forward your response!

    • With it being a Bullitt swap, you will want to make sure all of the other parts including the throttle body, and intake manifold have been swapped too. You may have to extend your MAF wiring just a tad, but you should be able to loosen up some clips to get some extra slack out of the wiring. As far as it fitting with the GT fascia that should not be an issue.

Any more gains over stock air intake? I have always heard that the factory bullitt is flowing pretty good. I have a k&n drop in filter i put on the factory intake. Is it really worth it to buy this?

    • Usually a 6to10 HP gain is realized from a cold air intake over the stock system, no matter what filter is in it.

      Locked up my engine

Do not recommend this at all I hit some rain on my way home one night and hit some puddles and because where the filter is located on this it sucked water into my engine and completely locked up my engine and broke a rod so my engine is now done for.

      Unexpected power

I did a lot of looking around and comparing, This intake is just sweet. Looks good, fits well, and pulls in the air definitely going to look for more of the jlt products as they shoot them off the line. The time it took me to install is about and hour due to me trying to get the filter away from the tire because of the cars set up for drifting.

      Pretty good

Took me a little over an hour. It was difficult to get the intake in the wheel well to fit right. Not design fault, just was difficult. The customer submitted Intructions were more helpful than the supplied one. I do feel a increase in power. I also have a Bama tuner so together you can feel the Increase together. But it wasn't as much as I had anticipated. But still worth the money! Looks great too!

      wakes up your car

It took longer than expected. Also I had to take off the tire but well worth it. It is a great intake and looks awesome and turns your bullitt into a whole new car

JLT I knows what they are doing!

JLT has made an exceptional cold air intake system for of the 2001 Bullitt! for people that are not mechanically inclined they might have some issues with the installation, but if you like working on cars it's absolutely excellent!

      Works great

This air intake is great, once you finally get it in. Installation was a bit of a pain, and I would strongly recommend that you get a tune after doing the intake. Even though they say that you don't need a tune you really do because your car is not going to run as good as it potentially could. I found that I had problems with decelerating and pushing the brake at the same time as the clutch the car would completely stall.

      Noticeable power gain

Definately increased horsepower, torque, and acceleration and it made the exhaust note slightly deeper. However, i found that my engine would die on deceleration (and lose power steering) if i braked with the clutch in at 20 mph or faster. I called JLT Performance and they said that it is a common problem that some cars have (not all) and it can only be fixed with a tune. Also, stay out of car washes because the water can hit the filter.

Not really worth it and difficult to service

This is a true CAI unlike so many others so youre gonna get colder air since the filters actually inside the fender BUT that also means servicing it an installing it is an incredable pain. You have to jack the car up and pretty much remove the fender well cover which also means youve got to remove the wheel as well. Thats an awful lot to go through espec for routine service/cleaning. Also the price is very high so id recomend going for a decent CAI that has a good heat sheild thats under the hood where you can service the filter easily but still have the engine heat blocked by the sheild. Just my opinion but i really didnt notice a big gain so not worth the effort or high cost of this intake. Id send it back but its used so i cant. :/ Oh and yes i do have a tuner

      Worth the price!

So this CAI is a great product. After install i felt a slight low end hp/tq gain, but when you get past 3k rpm and go metal to the flow this CAI really wakes up! My exhaust even sounds a little bit louder and deeper. I was really debating between the JLT and the C&L cai but i am glad i chose this one. The cost is very good and the gains are well worth the money. Slight increase in fuel economy as well. WIth my SCT tuner it says the intake air temp coming into the engine is just about the temp outside. So with this system if its 80 degrees out, thats what your going to suck into your engine. If 50 degrees, then thats what it will be. The air travels fast enough from the fender not to heat up in the tube which is exactly what you want. The plastic material is well made. The only downside to this CAI, is it is a pain in the A** to install. You can do it in an hour. But its not a fun hour lol Overall, very good CAI

JLT cold air intake is worth the money

I replaced my 10 year old JLT CAI with the new design and could tell a difference in sound and seat of the pants power. I feel JLT makes the best product.

      JLT Cold Air Intake

To start off, I cant be more pleased with the business AM does. Im a very happy customer. The JLT CAI is definitely a must!! Its affordable, very sleek and clean looking, definite increase in power, throttle response, and gas mileage (especially with a tuner from AM), and its so simple to install. Thank you again for your business AM.

      jlt cai

All I can say is wow...it didn't take long to install...got slapped by my splash guard a couple times but it was worth it...I immediately got it tuned which isn't necessary but added other parts after..I gained peak numbers of 14.8 HP and an average of 13.2 in the powerband. It definitely woke the car up.. I haven't gotten to truely test it due to rain but just light throttle could feel it trying to break loose. I highly recommended to anyone with a bullitt..
