Hey everybody, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and welcome to my quick breakdown and Dyno test of the K&N Series 69 Typhoon cold air intake system available for your '11 to '14 Mustang GT. So why go with a K&N for your S197? Well, it's safe to say they know a few things about intakes and air filters having pretty much written the book on modern day filtration. Now because of this, K&N continues to be one of the most popular choices for your aftermarket intake and filter needs in the automotive world and beyond. Now of course most of us would like to say we install aftermarket cold air intakes mainly for their performance and sound benefits, but the improvement in under hood appearance should definitely not go overlooked, especially with the K&N here. As you can see, the Typhoon intake is really going to pop under the hood thanks largely in part to this bright chrome aluminum intake tube and my personal favorite part about the intake, this carbon fiber heat shield, which is really going to set this thing apart from some of the other intakes on the market. However, since making more power is what we're all about here, let's talk about how the K&N will help you in that regard. Now this cold air is going to replace that cheap paper element filter in your GT with K&N's high flow reusable oiled intake filter and basically allow for more power no matter what your modifications may be. One of the nice things about the K&N Series 69 Typhoon intake is that it does not require the use of a custom tune. So for those of you guys out there who might not be ready to pull the trigger on a tune just yet but are looking for some of the performance and appearance benefits of an aftermarket cold air intake, this would be a great option. Nevertheless, running a custom tune is going to be a great idea as it's only going to increase the performance on your GT while also improving your driveability yet maintaining reliability at the same time. Now doing a cold air intake is one of those things I recommend for everybody out there as it's definitely one of the easier mods you'll ever tackle with your Mustang and really should only take you about an hour using basic hand tools. As always guys, if you have any more questions about the Typhoon intake from K&N or anything else here on the site, feel free to reach out to us anytime. We already grabbed our baseline run earlier today using our automatic 2011 GT behind me. So now with the K&N installed and that tune uploaded, it's time to turn the rollers one more time and see what the numbers are. So our baseline run using our automatic 2011 GT gave us 358 horsepower and 343 pound-feet of torque at the rear wheels. With the K&N, the car is now making 375 horsepower and 358 pound-feet of torque making for a peak gain of 17 horsepower over those baseline numbers and gains of as much as 25 horsepower and 26 pound-feet of torque under the curve. So if you guys are in the market for a very attractive no tune required cold air for your Coyote powered S197, then be sure to check out the Series 69 Typhoon from K&N available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.
