    Review & Install Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m going to be breaking down Magnaflow’s street catback exhaust system for all 2011 and newer Mustang GTs. Let’s talk about a few main features with this kit. First and most important are the mufflers that give this kit its street name, as you can see this street system uses a traditional chambered muffler, which is great at keeping the noise down, and is a far cry from Magnaflow’s other offering, the competition series, which utilizes a straight through race muffler design. Again those chambered mufflers are going to be the biggest factor in keeping the noise level down, making this one of the quieter exhausts available on the market today. So if upping the volume on your exhaust note is your number 1 priority, you might want to check out Magnaflow’s competition series instead. What you can expect from this system is a very streetable exhaust with a deep tone and practically zero drone at any RPM. The entire kit consists of 100% stainless steel construction, features 3” mandrel bent tubing, along with these chambered mufflers, all exiting out these dual 4” polished tips. Since this kit bolts directly to your factory Mid Pipe without modification, getting everything installed is very straightforward and should take you about 2 hours. Now let’s hear how Magnaflow’s street series catback sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

Free Flowing Exhaust. Magnaflow delivers the ultimate exhaust for the 2011-2012 GT or GT500 with this Street Cat-Back Exhaust. By reducing back pressure for a free flowing exhaust, this catback produces more power and torque where it belongs - at the rear wheels.

Classic Muscle Car Sound. The Magnaflow Cat-Back Exhaust System includes a set of two Street Series Mufflers that feature a free-flowing, straight-through perforated stainless steel core, with stainless mesh wrap and acoustical fiber fill to deliver that smooth, deep muscle car tone.

Quality Construction. Each piece is made from 3" mandrel bent stainless steel tubing for long life and a perfect fit. The Street Series mufflers end with brightly polished 4" stainless tips, that exit in the stock locations for impressive looks.

Application. Made to be a direct bolt on, this catback will bolt straight up to the factory Mid-Pipe without any extra modifications required on the 2011-2012 GT or GT500 Mustang to give it a deeper, classic sound.

All reviews are using X pipes. What sound difference from after market H pipe?

    KeithS

    • The sound difference with an aftermarket H-Pipe will sound more mellow with a classic style muscle car tone.

Will the magnaflow x pipe (not the offroad one) clamp on and fit with this exhaust system, or will there be cutting involved?

Would bassanni street racing axle backs be a direct bolt on?

    Jnw03mstng

    • Unfortunately, the Bassani axle-backs will not be a direct bolt on to the over axle pipes in this kit. You will have to make some modifications.

I have this catback already and... I plan on installing the BBK long tube headers and BBK off-road shorty X-Pipe. Will the Magnaflow Street catback that I already have connect to the BBK X-pipe?

    Big0311bry

    • This Magnaflow Street Cat-Back Exhaust and the BBK O/R shorty x-pipe utilize a 3" diameter tubing with a step down to 2.75" male connectors. They will be compatible as long as connector used allows two male ends to secure together.

      my Exhaust

I have a 2012 Mustang GT and I've had three different Axle back on my car. None of them gave me the sound I was looking for. I had a 2000 mustang GT and I install a Magnaflow cat back on it, and I love the sound and it was quiet in side the car. So I gave up on all the other systems I had and went back to Magnaflow for my 2012 and I'm in love with my car again. The car sound great out side.

Oustanding quality, performance and weight reduction

My new Magnaflow catback for my 2012 Boss arrived Friday. It was packaged with care - bubble wrap, foam, and tape to ensure everything arrived without a scratch or dent. Parts looked beautiful and went together perfectly. Car has been lowered 1.5 inches in the back and still no issues with fit. Sounds great and takes approximately 24 pounds of weight out of the car. Stock Boss mufflers alone weigh about 48 pounds with the front hangers attached. Entire Magnaflow system with midpipes, mufflers, front muffler hangers and clamps came in around 50 pounds. A few extra HP and ~24 less pounds less weight. Hard to beat.

      high quality

this is an amazing looking system, the mufflers are flawless and look like mirrors. its a shame youll never really see the exhaust under the car. This exhaust is a straight through no chamber design, with a offset input. i have this installed with a JBA off road x pipe and it is amazingly deep sounding yet very quiet in the car. its also fairly quiet but when your at wide open throttle it will still have a decent volume to it.

      Magnaflow street catback exhaust

I took my time with the install just to make sure I did not have any problems later I installed the off road x and full three inch catback system. My exhaust is a little louder because of the off road x but I highly recommend this product if you enjoy the sound of a 5.0 this is for you

Don't try this without a lift

It would have been a breeze with a lift. Without one you will need a saw to cut the pipe and drop the rear axle to install the new ones.

      Very Nice Sound

Okay well before I bought this I read the reviews and one guy said it was a nice sound that barely intruded the inside of the car, so I bought it...Well I'm not complaining, but it is a little louder than that, but it sounds awesome...! I wanted a deep rumble and I got it, but when you get onto it it is a very nice sound, but I will say I installed the Offroad x-pipe at the same time so that may be why it is louder, either way a very nice rumble, its PERFECT....! Install was nothing, I did it on jackstands, and couldn't get up hight enough so I had to jack up the rear end enough to unhook the shock and swaybar link and slowly lower the rearend just enough to install the pipe over the rearend housing, but that took 5 minutes per side, not a big deal considering I saved hundreds on install bucks....anyone could do the install with any mechanical skills....

Instructions said it would take about 2 hrs give or take, but the it only took an hour tops and thats while including clean up. Gave my ride a nice deep sound. It's mean and not that annoying loud either, just the right sound overall. That is for my taste. The only bad thing i have, if its even considered bad, is that when it arrived some portions were scuffed and minor dents but they were in the portins that could not be seen when installed.

Magnaflow quality - can't beat it

Have stayed with Magnaflow exhaust systems on my Mustangs ('04 and a '12 GT's) and am very pleased with quality and sound. '04 went without a hitch. '12 was another story - fit was poor but warranty response from American Muscle and Magnaflow was outstanding. Every product line can have occasional an bad part get through the system, it's what they do about it to make things right that counts. A replacement system was expeditiously sent out and first system picked up without any cost to me, as it should be. At any rate, replacement system looks and sounds great and as I said in the Review title "Magnaflow quality - can't be beat"

      Magaflow quality & customer service

Excellent quality Magnaflow is known for with good fit and finish. Sounds great, couldn't be happier. Nice low, throaty rumble that only slightly intrudes inside the car.
