      Review & Installation Video

Hey, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com. I'm checking out the new 551C wheels from MMD, fitting all 2005 to 2014 Mustangs, available in your choice of either silver, charcoal, or matte black. The 551C is the first wheel to debut from industry leading appearance brand MMD. Now if you guys didn't know by now, MMD's number one priority is to separate your ride from the rest, thanks to their wide variety of unique styling accessories designed specifically for the mustang. Now, if you guys want to check out more cool parts from MMD including future wheel releases, just click on our banner below to subscribe to our YouTube channel if you haven't done so already. AS you can see, the 551C features that modern flat, five-spoke, concave design that has become wildly popular with the S197 crowd as of late. As I mentioned at the beginning of this video, you do have a few different choices when it comes to color. Project MMD behind me is sporting the charcoal 551C's while our project Coyote 2014 GT is sporting the matte black version. Finally, our 2005 V6 on the dynojet is rocking the MMD wheels in silver. Sizing-wise the 551C wheels are offered in both 19 and 20-inch diameters and widths of 8 1/2 and 10 inches. Now as I mentioned in all of our wheels vids, the different widths do give you a couple of different options. For one, you can go with the tried and true staggered fitment, and stick a wider wheel and tire in the rear like project MMD. Or if you want you can go with a square or standard fitment, meaning you have the same width, wheel and tire on all four corners, and it does give you the ability to rotate those tires in the future. The MMD wheels are available separately if you'd like, however if you're going to need some new rubber to go along with these new wheels, why don't let us do all of the work for you? We do offer a few pre-built tires and wheel kits that pair your new 551C wheels up with some of the top performing tires on the market today in sizes that are guaranteed to fit your Mustang without rubbing, even if you lower it an inch or two. On top of that, you do get to take advantage of our free mounting and balancing and our free shipping and handling. If you guys want to learn more about these pre-assembled tire and wheel kits, and you're not watching this video on our site already, well then just click on the link below to head back to the product page at AmericanMuscle.com. Installing a new set of wheels and tires onto your ride has to be one of the easier mods to tackle, and can be accomplished in about an hour using some basic hand tools. You want to first crack the lugs loose on the ground, before you jack the car up. Once the car's in the air, go ahead and swap out all four wheels and tires, tighten those lugs, and you should be good to go. Now, if you do have any questions about the install itself or about the actual 551C wheels, do not hesitate to get in touch with one of our Mustang experts by phone or by email. So, if you're looking for a very popular wheel design that is sure to turn a few heads on the street or at your next show, then check out the 551C wheels by MMD available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

        MMD 551C Review

I would have given them five stars if the paint would have been thicker. Overall these are some very good looking wheels.

        Perfect look for any s197

The look is perfect, easy to clean, they stand out and grab lots of attention. I powdercoated mine for a more durable finish.

        Crack Machines

I had these wheels for about a year and 3 of them cracked on me from normal every day driving. Get better quality, not these

        Poor Quality

I’ve owned my 2007 Mustang GT for about 8 months now and in that time I’ve had to buy three new rims. The smallest of bumps in the road causes damage to these wheels. They are apparently not made of the a sturdy or durable material. In fact, they seem to be cheap (poor quality). The newest wheel I received had a chip in it, right out of the box. Wheels looks great but wouldn’t recommend them from a durability standpoint.

        1 2006 V6 - Ryan Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Highly don’t recommend

I’ve had these on my car for nearly a year now and live the look of them. They are fantastic wheels and I’ve gotten multiple compliments on them. However they aren’t built well or something because I’ve had 2 different rims crack on me. If you don’t mind going through American muscles 3 week process to figure if they are going to replace the rim or not or mind forking out another 150-200 to get the rim fixed at. A local shop of yours than these are the rims for you.

        Worth the money

I would recommend wider tire for the rear. The 285s look small. But other than that, they look great.

5 2010 GT - DB Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Love!!

Love these wheels from the get go. The only thing iffy about it is that the powder cost finish can be scratched very easily. Be careful installing. Overall, great wheels and decent tires.

        5 2010 GT - Eleanor31 Installation Time: Shop Install Installation Cost: $100-$250

Makes My GT Feel New Again!!!!

I have lowered my GT a 1.5" all the way around with the Ford Racing lowering springs. I love the 5 star look and these rims are incredibly light weight. It definitely brings a breath of fresh air to my 2010 Mustang GT. I honestly believe I could have went 2" all the way around and still would have had plenty of wheel clearance. If I had to complain about anything it would be that the paint seems to chip somewhat easily. Meaning after just putting my center caps on after install, caused the paint to rub off some. Other than that I'm completely satisfied with this purchase. Lastly the tires, the Sumitomo 285/30's in the rear (side walls) are slightly smaller than the front 255/35's but the rear is a wider tire so I kind of expected that. If the rear side wall was 285/35/20 it would probably look perfect but nonetheless it looks really good at the current setup!!!!

How good are the sumitumo tires ?

      • Sumitomo tires are a great brand to go with. I currently have them on my Mustang and have no complaints. They have no road noise and great wet and dry traction.

Is there any one who has been daring enough to try the fitment of 20x10 up front on a 11-14 GT/V6? Thanks!

      • Hi, This 20x10 MMD 551C Charcoal Wheel should only be installed on the rear, using a wheel that wide on the front can cause rubbing problems.
