      Description

      V8 Style And Sound. Bolting on a Pypes Street-Pro Cat-Back System to a stock 1998 to 2004 V6 will yield an instant 8 to 13 horsepower gain! It features two Street-Pro mufflers for Pypes ultimate in flow (and power gains) with an aggressive V8 sound.

      No Cutting or Welding Required. Unlike so many other aftermarket V6 dual exhaust kits that require cutting and welding the stock Mid Pipe, the Pypes Street-Pro Cat-Back system simply bolts right up to the stock Y-pipe for a no hassle installation.

      Quality Materials.
      This Pypes Dual Cat-Back Exhaust is constructed from free flowing mandrel bent 2.5" 409 stainless steel piping and features Pypes Street-Pro 3-chamber mufflers for an aggressive throaty sound. The whole system is finished off with a set of 3" Polished 304 stainless steel tips for classic Muscle Car styling.

        4 2002 V6 - DarisB Installation Time: Afternoon

        Perfect for my car

        I recently replaced the back bumper on my V6. The body shop installed a V8 bumper by accident, with exhaust cut-outs. The short hanger rods put the tips in the right place to fill the cut-outs. I jacked the car up, but left the axle hanging. No need to remove the shocks, to get the pipes over the axle. I had to cut 5.5" off the ends of the "y" pipe. This exhaust is slightly louder than the original, single exhaust. Perfect for what how I wanted my car to sound. It took me about two hours to remove the old exhaust and install this, by myself. I added an updated Bama tune along with this. This exhaust compliments my already installed SR Performance CAI, BBK shorty headers and BBK 65M throttle body.

        dual pipes

        Like the sound of these, I used a professional muffler shop, it took him nearly 3 hours. This is not a job to do under a car on jack stands. The y pipe had to be cut and the whole installation needed tweaking. It's in and correct, not touching anything to make vibrations.

        wrangling install

        Y pipe flange was severely damaged (had to take to a shop for proper repair), both hangers on tail pipes were bent out of shape (smashed against tail pipe. Y pipe needed to be shortened . Other than that not too hard of a install. I don't feel the looks and sound are worth the investment.

        Great buy, hard install

        Diff love just about everything about the exhaust, rented a car lift to get it done, helped immensely....exhaust is only slightly louder than stock, but appearance dramatically improved on the back....installation was a little difficult as it didn’t line up 100, aside from doing some forceful bends, it went on great

        4 2004 V6 - IanC Installation Time: Afternoon

        Overall pretty good

        The exhuast looks amazing, and the sound is pretty good and would match that of a v8 once you go over 2000 Rpms.when in idle the exhuast isnt that loud at all,but has a nice v8 type rumble which sounds and feels good from the inside. It fit my 3.9L 04 mustang good and looks 100 times better than the single stock exhuast. Overall worth the money

        Really love it

        Well the installation wasn't as easy as they make it seem. I thank God that one of my Good friends is a mechanic / blacksmith. We did have to cut 5 inches of the pipes. After that the pipes fit perfectly. It has a mid range growl until about 2500rmp then it barks at you lol. The horse power gains felt right away. Haven't even retuned yet.The quality of the exhaust is very very good pypes did a great job with the overall construction. The welds on the pypes where perfect. I really impressed with that. Overall I love it!

        5 1998 V6 - WilliamP Installation Time: Afternoon

        Worth Every Penny

        Cannot beat this. Comes with everything you will need. Install wasn't bad but I suggest if you do not have a lot of mechanical ability, have someone with the abilities to do it. I see some guys have posted it took them less than an hour, no way. I had 3 hours in it as I had to drop my exhaust about a 1/4 of an inch to keep things aligned and snug. I wanted to make sure my pipes were not extended past bumper and keep it as close to a factory look as possible. For those wanting their car to sound loud this is not for you. I will note, it does make the 3.8 sound like a V8 but it is a nice mellow sound. Just what I was looking for. In closing, if you are getting this more for the look factor with a nice mellow sound this is for you. If you're looking for a sound that sounds like a V6 without an exhaust, go get a y pipe made and buy a couple cherry bombs and you're good. Highly recommend, well made. No chincy junk here like the Summit Racing kit they sell for half the money. There is a reason it is half the price.

        1 2000 V6 - WilliamB Installation Time: Afternoon

        not very satisfied

        the item is said to be an easy install but what should have been a one hour job turned into a complicated 4 hours. no where close to fitting without being modified. the front split pipe was a good 6 inches too long on both sides and had to be cut. kit was missing a split flang connecter, i assume it is suppose to be salvaged from the original exhaust line. however that is only possible if the part is not welded to the removed section of the original, i feel that such a peice should be included to avoid installation delays. moving forward to the mufflers, driver side installation was a perfect fit after the split pipe had been cut but passenger side there where many problems. first problem, placing the brakets correctly caused the muffler to press against the drive shaft. once that was fixed by bending split pipe slightly, connecting the tail pipe was another issue, not aligning with the muffler without modifying the braket again. overall a good look but slightly dissapointed with the sound, not a job anyone can do and not really worth the major headache for selfinstallation. i got a better sound from a single aftermarket flowmaster exhaust and there is no noticable performance change.

        Really good for its price

        This is really good product for the price it has a little rumble for a V6. Installation was a little tricky for the alignment on 2000 convertible Mustang and some cutting had to be done but nothing dramatic I would highly recommend this product it took 6 hours to install

        4 2004 V6 - Traveller Installation Time: Afternoon

        No bad

        Install was fairly easy. Had to remove passenger side shock to get tailpipe in and drivers side rear tire to get the other side in. Overall went smoothly with minimal cussing. Quieter than I expected them to but they sound good.

      I've been looking for a good dual exhaust kit for my 2004 V6 3.9L and I was looking at the MAC and it requires a installation kit to be bought separately in order to install it to my car. Does this kit require that as well?

      • This system is designed to simply bolt on to the existing y-pipe and does not require anything additional to install.

      Is there any possibility that this exhaust could bolt on to a 97' mustang v6? If so, how?

      • This exhaust will not fit perfectly for a 1997 v6 Mustang. You will need custom modifications to be done to this to get it to fit. For the type of modifications, please contact a trusted exhaust shop to see what can be done.

      I'm looking to buy this but swap out the street pro mufflers with the slp loudmouth 2. The street pro mufflers are 14 inches long and the slp mufflers are 18 and 3/16. I'm wondering if it would fit over the axles and how far the tips would go out. Is the slp an option here?

      • What you are looking to do here is going to be a custom setup. This will require some cutting and welding to be a perfect fit. You will most likely have to cut some pipe out of this system to fit the longer mufflers in there and also do some adjusting to the exhaust hangers as well. rather than going through this fabrication I would recommend looking into a system that is going to have a similar sound like the Magnaflow Dual Cat-Back Exhaust Item #48015 (http://www.americanmuscle.com/magnaflow-dual-exhaust-9904-v6.html). This system has a similar style muffler setup as the SLP mufflers and for the price difference and not needing any modification may be a better route to go.

      Would this work on a '97 if I were to purchase a GT bumper with the cutout for the exhaust pipes?

      • Not without modifications. The Pypes Street-Pro Dual Cat-Back Exhaust (98-04 V6) is specifically designed for 98-04. I would suggest looking for something that is advertised for a 97 to guarantee fitment.
