Is there any possibility that this exhaust could bolt on to a 97' mustang v6? If so, how?

    Mario

    • This exhaust will not fit perfectly for a 1997 v6 Mustang. You will need custom modifications to be done to this to get it to fit. For the type of modifications, please contact a trusted exhaust shop to see what can be done.

I'm looking to buy this but swap out the street pro mufflers with the slp loudmouth 2. The street pro mufflers are 14 inches long and the slp mufflers are 18 and 3/16. I'm wondering if it would fit over the axles and how far the tips would go out. Is the slp an option here?

    Preston

    • What you are looking to do here is going to be a custom setup. This will require some cutting and welding to be a perfect fit. You will most likely have to cut some pipe out of this system to fit the longer mufflers in there and also do some adjusting to the exhaust hangers as well. rather than going through this fabrication I would recommend looking into a system that is going to have a similar sound like the Magnaflow Dual Cat-Back Exhaust Item #48015 (http://www.americanmuscle.com/magnaflow-dual-exhaust-9904-v6.html). This system has a similar style muffler setup as the SLP mufflers and for the price difference and not needing any modification may be a better route to go.

Would this work on a '97 if I were to purchase a GT bumper with the cutout for the exhaust pipes?

    gotmyeyeonit

    • Not without modifications. The Pypes Street-Pro Dual Cat-Back Exhaust (98-04 V6) is specifically designed for 98-04. I would suggest looking for something that is advertised for a 97 to guarantee fitment.

If i buy this kit will i need anything else or is this everything needed for a dual exhaust conversion?

    Andrew876

    • The Pypes Street-Pro Dual Cat-Back Exhaust (98-04 V6) kit comes with everything you will need for a Dual Exhaust Conversion. This kit will simply bolt-on to the existing stock Y-Pipe.

Could i put a X pipe on this and make it a full duel? The X pipes on AM say they are for catted gt exhausts but i was wondering if they would still work for this? Any extra details are appreciated.

    Lafoca

    • Unfortunately, this kit is designed to be used with your factory Y-pipe. You would just need the Pypes V6 True Dual Exhaust Kit rather than this kit. It has the same Street-Pro 3-chamber Mufflers as this kit and comes with the catted x-pipe to make it a true dual system. Check out the link below!

I have next to no experience with cars in general, and this is the first modification I have ever done. I am very impressed! A must buy if you are even considering it!

      Sweet for the price

It may not be as high priced as some of the other ones, but overall, its a great exhaust. This kit comes with brackets you can us to fit a GT bumper or a V6 bumper. I kept the V6 bumper and cut hole in it, which came out great!!!

pypes 409 stainless steel street-pro catback w/ polished

May have to be ordered if not in stock so may take 1-2 weeks. Does Not Sound like a v8 at all and the y pipe that comes with the kit does not fit right! they forgot to bend it so it does not touch or rub your transmission, resulting in one mufflers being lower than the other. because of this it scrapes the floor a lot on big bumb's depending on your speed! and since you have to angle the mufflers so the y pipe doesn't rub against the transmission the muffler tips are not where there supposed to be. i will have to take it to a mechanic so he can bend my y pipe so i can tuck everything in so both of the mufflers are in the correct position unless you make it a strait pipe which would get rid of this problem. everything is bolt on so u can do it yourself. do not pay your mechanic to do it unless you want him to weld it for you but really there is no need for you to weld.. however it does save more gas and sounds a little better depending if you have an automatic mustang or a stick shift (no v8)

      Cheap

I ordered this system and tried to install it finding out that the company sent me a warped deffective kit. I did get a replacement after having to take pictures and get a quote from a shop. When you get the system for yourself you will see how the mufflers are cheap as the single stock exhaust you get. So basically you're buying two stock pipes Goodluck

      Awesome

It was easy to get the old one out, but I had a hard time getting the new one in. I had to weld it in order for it to stay in place, and my father helped me to put some holes in my V6 spoiler, they came out great. Now the car looks and sounds awesome. I also installed some BBK headers and a K&N Air Intake at the same time so they made a great differene. Thanks American Muscle!

      This is not average

After cutting out factory exhaust, (like instruction said) My 02' V6 must be different, because I had to cut 7 1/2" off the new Y piece and was still difficult making all matchup. I've worked on my cars for years, and for prices that you have to pay now-a-days, things should work out a whole lot better! Nothing "throaty" about the sound either, but it does look good. (should after 4 1/2 hours of hard labor)

Great for the new build!!! Must buy!

This was the first thing i bought for the 99 v6. It took a few days to actually put it on since i live in the north country of New york, and the Underneath was all rusted so theyre was nonthing to put the hangers too... So i had to do some weilding. But after some cuts and bends the sound was perfect! and the increase was very noticable. too bad i have the chip that turns off at 115... GREAT PRODUCT!!! Thanks AM:D:D

      Nice, but required cutting

Great sounding system for the price. It added a nice gurgle that is much better then the stock system. It did take awhile to install, as I had to cut for it to fit on my 01 Mustang.

      Pypes conversion kit

The product seems sturdy and well built so far, but it was a hassle to install. The instructions could be clearer and you better expect to be cutting a lot. The sound overall isn't that impressive, it's a little bit of a let down in my opinion. The one great thing about this product is that it looks nice, really upgrades the appearance of the vehicle.

      Better than Stock

The look is great and for the sound... It is much better than stock but it sounds like a mixture of a Honda Civic and. Roush Mustang. Easy to install and worth the money.

      not very satisfied

the item is said to be an easy install but what should have been a one hour job turned into a complicated 4 hours. no where close to fitting without being modified. the front split pipe was a good 6 inches too long on both sides and had to be cut. kit was missing a split flang connecter, i assume it is suppose to be salvaged from the original exhaust line. however that is only possible if the part is not welded to the removed section of the original, i feel that such a peice should be included to avoid installation delays. moving forward to the mufflers, driver side installation was a perfect fit after the split pipe had been cut but passenger side there where many problems. first problem, placing the brakets correctly caused the muffler to press against the drive shaft. once that was fixed by bending split pipe slightly, connecting the tail pipe was another issue, not aligning with the muffler without modifying the braket again. overall a good look but slightly dissapointed with the sound, not a job anyone can do and not really worth the major headache for selfinstallation. i got a better sound from a single aftermarket flowmaster exhaust and there is no noticable performance change.
