        Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m taking a closer look at the Pypes violator series catback exhaust, fitting the 98-04 Mustang GT, Mach 1, and Bullitt. Pypes exhaust systems usually feature very aggressive tones and it’s the same with the violator kit shown here. The name comes from the two violator series mufflers that this entire kit is built around. They actually feature mini sound deflectors in place of the traditional baffles, which will really allow your 4.6 to be heard. As for the construction we’re looking at full 409 grade stainless throughout, including the 2.5” mandrel bent tubing, the violator mufflers, and those 3.5” OE style polished tips. We do have this exact same kit used on our 98 GT bolt on build up, in conjunction with Pypes’ off road X-pipe which they refer to as their beast setup, and let me just say I am a really big fan of this exhaust. As for the install you will need to cut your factory exhaust just to remove it entirely but after that the new Pypes system should install without modification in about 2 hours. Now let’s hear how the Pypes violator series catback sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

        Increase In Performance. Bolting on a Pypes Violator Cat-Back system to a stock 1998 to 2004 GT will yield an instant 8 to 13 horsepower gain. It features two of Pypes Violator mufflers for the ultimate in flow and power gains with an aggressive rude sound.

        Aggressive Sound. Pypes CatBack features the Violator "Rude Sound" muffler that uses an internal louvered tube with mini sound deflector chambers that result of a unique aggressive muscle car sound.

        Quality Materials. This Pypes Cat-Back Exhaust is constructed from free flowing mandrel bent 2.5" 409 stainless steel tubing and features Pypes Violator chambered mufflers for an aggressive throaty sound. The whole system is finished off with a set of 3.5" Polished 304 stainless steel tips for classic Muscle Car styling.

        Application. The Pypes Violator Cat-Back Exhaust kit is specifically designed to simply bolt-on to the existing stock H-Pipe of any 1998 to 2004 4.6L GT, Bullitt, or Mach 1 Mustang for more power and a more aggressive sound.

        Is this legal in California? Will it pass smog?

        • Only headers and catalytic converters are affected by somg tests. If the exhaust you are looking at doesn't involve these pieces then you have nothing to worry about.

        Is it compatible with a 01 v6

        • In order to use this Violator Catback (or any other GT catback) on your V6, you would have to install either the Pypes Catted or Off-road X-pipe designed for the V6 or use the V6 Dual Exhaust Adapter Kit. I've attached all (3) options below so you can take a look and decide which would be best for your application. One of these mid-pipes would then allow this or any other GT catback to bolt up without issue! Hope this helps!

        Can I install some Stock Catholic Converters on this and if so well it affect the strength of the noise and HP and well the smog check pass on California?

        • The Pypes Violator Cat-Back Exhaust is a cat back system which means it mounts behind the cats you already have.

        Looking for an exhaust I can put on my my 2000 v6 with an o/r x pipe and was wondering how this compared to the pypes pipe bombs?

        • The Violator exhaust from Pypes actually has a slightly deeper exhaust tone when compared to the Pipe Bombs. Being you have an o/r mid-pipe already, I would recommend the Pipe Bombs which is more mild. With that being said, it really will depend on the exhaust sound you're looking to go with for your vehicle.

        Do i really need the electronic pip cut kits I have a convertible 4.6L Mustang GT 2000

        • The Pypes Violator Cat-Back Exhaust does not require cutouts. The Pypes Electric Exhaust Cutout Kit is used to allow the exhaust to exit before the mufflers for race applications.

        I just ask a question able fitment for my 2003 GT Premium but I read it fits coupe and convertible so all I need to know is about the tips you say the Pypes catback come with 3-1/2 tips which is what I want with the SFM27V other places say 3 in just want to make sure before buying. 1 answer

          Great products

          I had these installed at a shop, but one of the muffler tips was bent the shop claims they cam like that but i check them before bring them to the shop and they were not bent everything was perfect, either way the install went well and the stang grrrrrrrr like it should. i will be buying a replacement pipe. i will continue to purchase.

          Love this Exhaust System

          This system sounds great! It's noticeably louder than the stock exhaust on my 04 GT when running through the gears, but at higher cruising speeds, it's nice and quiet with no drone whatsoever. The stainless tips look great too! I had a shop install it, so I can't comment on the installation process.

          I had a very old flowmaster exhaust that I loved, for over 10 years till a very bad rock on a dirt road. This new exhaust changes the whole car. She was loud before but now she's nasty. I'm very happy with my purchase. Got here fast and with no damage I couldn't be happier

          This system has a great sound. I love the side by side video clips for sound comparison on the website. It helped me to choose exactly the system I wanted. Got it cheap for Labor day sale and free shipping! I had a muffler shop install it for 2 hours labor.

          Great sound and price!

          I'm very happy with this product. I didn't have to spend a ton of money and still got that deep aggressive sound when I am on the gas. It's as quiet as stock at idle and not bad at highway. Only problem was they sent me the wrong sized exhaust tip but when I called they sent me a new one of my choice at no charge! Even called to let me know when it was coming. I would highly recommend!

          Sweeet

          Had flowmaster American thunder was way too quiet and droney, my state laws wont allow an off road h pipe so i opted for something louder, to my surprise these were similiar to the slp loudmouth, from videos i have seen , meaning they scream with aggression and a bit of rasp, i love it very bawlsy sounding. A great system , just one rev alone is like heaven for a muscle car enthusiast, not sure why these aren't as popular as other catbacks seriously underrated. buy it!!

          Great sound!

          Love this setup! Loud when you jump on the gas and quiet at idle. Also no highway drone which is awesome! Definitely gives the car a different sound than the typical flowmaster mustang sound.

          Not to Loud

          I just put this on my 04 GT with the stock H pipe it is a little bit louder than stock but not much it is just what I wanted. I did it myself on a hoist but it would have been easier with help holding parts in place and getting everything lined up.
