    Review & Install Video

The Pypes Street Pro Touring axle-back is going to be a good option for you if you're looking for more of a budget-friendly axle-back for a 2015 and newer GT Mustang, that still delivers the stainless steel materials and has more of a standard muffler design. The majority of the less expensive axle-back options out there are muffler delete systems. But the Street Pro Touring axle-back doesn't fall into that category. So if you're looking for a system that wakes up the GT, but that isn't too loud and doesn't have drone, then you're in the right place. The install for this is easy. It should take you about an hour to complete, and I'm going to call it a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. This is a 409-stainless steel axle-back, like I mentioned earlier, and it's also mandrel-bent. It has four-inch black, powder-coated stainless steel tips. But Pypes does also offer this axle-back with polished stainless steel tips instead, if you like that look better. I always say this, but stainless steel is always a great option for the cars that see all different types of road conditions, because it offers great corrosion resistance. The sound that this axle-back offers is what I consider a smooth sound. It's not raspy and loud, but more deep. It's not loud just to be loud. Pypes was looking for a system that provided deep, aggressive sound with no drone. So when you're on the throttle, you have a different tone than when you're off the throttle. Off the throttle, you're looking at more of a mellow sound from this axle-back. Overall, this is an axle-back that doesn't have a ton of raspiness and popping to it. I will say, though, to keep in mind that it can get even louder with a mid-pipe and headers, and with that being said, I'm going to give it a solid three out of five on the loudness scale. At the end of the day, though, no matter if you love this sound or hate it, it really all depends on what you're looking for and what you like. Luckily, there are quite a few options out there. When you start to look at price, like I mentioned earlier, this axle-back is on the more budget-friendly side. If you like the look of the powder-coated, polished tips here, you can expect to spend right about $500, while the system with the polished stainless steel tips is about $30 less. Either way, both systems are very affordable when you compare them to other offerings. But like I say with every axle-back, if this isn't what you're looking for, feel free to check out some of the other options, since there's a lot to choose from. You're going to be looking at the typical cut-and-clamp design with the install for this axle-back, since you need to cut all S550 axle-backs. I'm going to call this a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, but just because the cutting that's involved. It's nothing difficult, but I just recommend some eye protection and a fresh blade to make the cutting easier. Overall, it should take you about an hour to complete. A lift would certainly make things easier for you here, but the job can be done on jack stands as well if you don't have access to one. Cutting the factory axle-back isn't hard. Just be sure to measure twice and plan a mark where you'll be cutting, so you don't make a mistake. The new axle-back will come with four new clamps for you, and two for the tips so you don't have to worry about that. When you go to install your new setup, it'll probably be easiest to leave everything loose until you have it all lined up, and then tighten it down. Overall the Pypes Street Pro Touring axle-back is an upgrade for the 2015 and newer Mustang. You can check it out more online right here at

Amp up the Sound. The sound of a 2015-2017 GT Mustang is classic and refined but that may not be enough if you want to amp up your exhaust note. Well, look no further. Thanks to the Pypes Street Pro Touring Axle-Back Exhaust system you get a superior, aggressive tone without the addition of that annoying drone. Pype's Phantom Series which adds the black finish on the tips of this good looking exhaust system, will just add to the overall attractive appearance of your 15-17 GT.

No Removal. Good news for our customers that want to do this install on their own! Pypes has created their Street Pro Touring Axle-Back Exhaust System with the cut and clamp installation so no removal of your factory exhaust is required. Even better, the box contains a set of HVC25 clamps for install.

Stainless Steel Construction. Pypes Street Pro Touring Axle-Back Exhaust System is constructed out of 409 stainless steel. 409 stainless steel has superior longevity and durability to that of aluminized steel, so not only will this product look great, it'll withstand the wear and tear of the elements. The 409 stainless steel covers the muffler and the mandrel-bent 16 gauge steel pipe.

Application. The Pypes Street Pro Touring Axle-Back Exhaust System is designed to be used on 2015-2017 GT Mustangs. Add this exhaust for a great look and sound to your already awesome ride.

        4 Top Rated Questions

How do you think this would pair with an H-pipe setup? Will there be drone? I'd like to avoid that, I'm looking for an axle back exhaust to pair up with your Mishimoto H-pipe. Deep, classic, rumble without insane volume.

        • The Pypes axle backs are meant to reduce drone. However sound will be a subjective thing. I would also suggest checking some video or audio clips out on streaming service sites to make sure that the sound you are looking for is produced with this modification.

what makes the pypes street pro touring axle back have a quite sound rating? it looks identical to the roush axle back, are the internal designs different?

        • There are internal components and designs that will alter the sound quality featured in each set of exhaust despite similarities in appearance.

Where's the video clip for this exhaust? Im assuming that it is simiar to the Roush.

        • Unfortunately, we do not yet have a sound clip for the Pypes Street Pro Touring Axle-Back Exhaust System, but we would highly recommend listening to a few sound clips available on a few video streaming websites. It would be difficult to distinguish differences and similarities with another exhaust, as sound can be subjective.

            Perfect Sound

I installed these a little over 3 months ago. I have driven on highway at speed, and on the street. The sound is great, it isn't loud for the sake of being loud. In my opinion, It sounds like a muscle car should sound. It has just enough pop and gurgle to make you smile, not excessive. I have had a few muscle cars (60's-70's), and the sound fits. Install was a breeze, picked up a new sawzall blade, and it made quick work of the old exhaust, put car up on small portable ramps, took longer to put car up and make sure it was secure, than to install pipes.

Great great sound when you get down on it but not so loud when driving normal. You can have a normal conversation and not have to turn the volume up on the radio while driving.

            Great sound!

Pypes makes a great product. Quality workmanship and they sound great although they do have some drone. According to American Muscle sound graphs these are suppose to be one of the queitest axebacks but they are way louder than stock. Loudness is subjective but they could be a little quieter for cruising.

Nice and loud when you need it.

Nice axle back system. Bought it when my vehicle only had 300 miles on the dash, installed it and sounds mean when you get on it. Recommend to anyone that wants peace and quiet when driving but loud and raspy when getting on it.
