- How to Install Airaid Modular Intake Tube on your Mustang
Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, we're here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We're very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? "Everything we do is digitally designed. It's engineered to fit, it's engineered to work, it's engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It'll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there's no special gluing required, there's no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don't have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It's all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well." We're very excited—we've got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. "This is awesome. We're really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We're really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We'll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now." Now, you were telling me earlier, you're working with some legends in the Mustang world. "Well, we're excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli's been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we're trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX's). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year." Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. And as always, you can find those great Airaid products right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Purchased this to replace the ugly OEM tube. I am happy with the stock air box and don't like the incomplete look of most cai for my model Mustang. Does give a deeper tone on acceleration. Do not expect to get any performance gain this is just a cosmetic purchase. Quite a bit pricey for what it is but it is what it is.Helpful (0)

Good quality part and easy installation. Can tell an improvement in throttle response and low end power plus looks a lot better than the stock tube. Even cleans up the engine bay a little.Helpful (0)

Nice mod for decent price
Nice addition to my mustang. Bought this and a KandN drop-in filter, the two together make a nice combo. Engine sounds a little better, it cleans up the engine bay a little as well without the bulky stock intake tube. easy to install, well made product.Helpful (2)

Great Add On
While it seems a little pricey, I really like how it cleans up the engine bay. It did seem to add a little more get up and go to the vehicle - more responsiveness than torque.Helpful (3)

1ST MOD FOR A 3.7
This is def the first mod any st8 drive v6 owner should do. Had my 14 mustang with 18k for about 3 months and was kinda fighting the take off, feathering the clutch and gas to make a any kind of smooth take off. I could have gotten a CAI but really didn't want it. I took a chance on this. From the 1st time I let off the clutch after installing, its smooth and def has more power, a lil bit. Whole power curve in any gear is a noticeable improvement. actually makes it fun to drive now. Im happyHelpful (4)

Took less then an hour to install and the biggest thing I have noticed is a jump in fuel economy. It actually seems quieter then stock set up with my modded exhaust but the fuel gains are very welcome.Helpful (3)

Airaid amkes the rpm and mph climb!
It came and I felt like a kid on Christmas. I opened it up and quickly looked at the instructions and assembled it. I took out the stock and replaced it with this. Now I can't say anything about hp gain because I didn't tune. Ive noticed a .2 mpg gain. But the biggest improvement is when I open it up full throttle! The engine gets the air it needs to keep accelerating and keep climbing.Helpful (3)
Has anyone done a before and after dyno to see if this is even worth the $?
Airaid has not provided dynamo-meter results for their Airaid Modular Intake Tube however, with providing an increase up to 400CFM. You can expect some smaller gains than compared to replacing the entire intake, however, a high flow replacement filter will also help in squeezing out the most power.
Will this work with the BBK TB?
Yes, the coupler will be able to stretch to fit.
Will this fit, if I already have the Air aid CAI, custom tune and BBK Throttle body? and what gains if any will I see with this intake tube over the original that the CAI came stock with? for 2014 V6 Mustang
This is not an upgrade for an Airaid intake, only for the stock air box, nor would it fit with Airaid intakes. You would not see any power gains from attempting to swap this out with the intake tube that comes with the Airaid intake.
Torn about getting this.. The silver and black tube, does the black 1 screw in and silver a press fit? Just like a a lil more throttle responce and the stock 1 is ugly. still rereading reviews.. thank yall
The 5/8" silver fitting will press in to the intake tube after the 5/8" grommet is in place. For the automatic, the barbed fitting will then be screwed in, while those with a manual transmissionwill use the threaded plug.
Does anyone know if this improves the sound like the Airaid CAI does or did anyone notice if there is no difference in sound?
i was wondering this myself, so i sat and read every review posted! at least three of the reviews mentioned a better sound (over stock) with this tube. that makes sense, since this tube eliminates the stock sound dampener/ baffles. i would assume a full c.a.i. set up would be a bit louder than this though because of the exposed cone-style air filter.
That would be a better question for Airaid, but we agree it would be a great product!
Yes, it can be removed
This Airaid Modular Intake Tube will not fit the 2017 V6 Mustang. The Airaid Modular Intake Tube is specifically designed to fit the 2011 to 2014 V6 Mustangs equipped with the 3.7L V6 engine.
Yes, this intake tube will work with a throttle body spacer.
Unfortunately the Airaid Modular Intake Tube will only fit the 11-14 V6 motors as the 2010 still had the 4.0L engine that carried over from the 05-09 model years. The 11-14 V6 has a 3.7L so fitment won't be the same.
The Airaid Modular Intake Tube is made of Roto-molded, high density polyethylene.
Hello! The Airaid Modular Intake Tube will not require a tune. However for your tune this would depend entirely on how your tune is set up. You will want to check with your tuner to see how your tune is set up!
Not my reply but this is what I've found researching brother. This TB spacer is designed to be used in conjunction with the stock throttle body only, not a larger mm aftermarket TB. Also, this spacer won't fit properly with the Airaid Cold Air Intake. If you already have both the BBK TB and Airaid CAI, my suggestion is to simply keep the set up you have!
