Hey, guys, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and this is my detailed review of the Borla ATAK Catback Exhaust System with Y-Pipe available for your 2015 and up EcoBoost Mustang. The ATAK from Borla is going to be for the EcoBoost owners out there who have some money to drop on a top-quality system from a name like Borla and want one of the loudest and most aggressive systems available for their turbo four-cylinder Mustang. I'm talking a ton of volume here, guys, a ton of turbo noise. Basically, if you want to be heard, this should be on your short list of systems to consider. Borla is and always has been a premium exhaust brand in the market and that certainly hasn't changed here with their S550 offerings. Now because of that, expect to pay premium top-dollar. Upwards of 1200 bucks to be exact with this system here. But keep in mind, guys, you are getting a superb build quality and materials. And one thing I really do enjoy about the Borla systems is the amount of options they give you. For instance, for the 2015 and up EcoBoost cars, you're getting the Borla Touring, which is going to be their milder of the three options. Right in the middle you're getting the Borla S-Type or Stinger. And then finally, we have the ATAK here which is by far and away their loudest and most aggressive system. But again, all three of those options are going to offer a little something different and should appeal to just about anyone. Now ATAK isn't just a cool name, guys. It actually stands for Acoustically Tuned Applied Kinetics, and it's Borla's fancy way of saying this thing is going to be loud, but it's not going to get sloppy or distorted the louder it gets. And as you guys heard earlier with the sound clip, this thing definitely delivers. In fact, expect a full five out of five on my one to five or one to wake-the-neighbors scale. Basically, if you're looking for a system that's going to keep things quiet on your EcoBoost, the ATAK is not for you.As I did mention earlier, guys, you are getting top quality here when dealing with the Borla, but you probably expect that when forking out over a thousand bucks for a system like this. Premium 304-grade stainless steel throughout, guys. The included Y-Pipe here. Two and a quarter inch mandrel-bent tubing. It's a little small for me; I would have preferred to see something a little bigger with a turbo car, but definitely not a deal-breaker. Of course, we have the patented ATAK series mufflers here from Borla, all exiting out the four-inch polished tips embossed with that Borla logo. All right guys, now when forking out top dollar for a system like the Borla here, of course, you expect that great quality, but you should also expect this thing to bolt up without any issues and the Borla definitely doesn't disappoint there. This thing practically put itself together on our EcoBoost, so expect a simple one-out-of-three wrench overall difficulty job here guys. Anyone should be able to knock this one out in the garage or driveway. Now getting that factory system down from your EcoBoost car, it's all one piece. It can be a little cumbersome. So an extra set of hands is not necessary, but it would certainly make life easier in this case. Either way for you, a few basic hand tools guys. A socket set, a few wrenches, maybe an hour or two again, in the shop or garage, and you should be able to get this thing in place in no time. All right guys, wrapping this one up. If you're after one of the loudest and most aggressive systems available for your EcoBoost-powered Mustang, then the ATAK from Borla should definitely be on the short-list of systems to consider for your ride and you can pick yours up right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

From the factory the Ecoboost is too quiet, but I was afraid adding any exhaust would make it sound like a ricer. This exhaust is different. It had a satisfying deep tone and I couldn’t be happier. The only thing that could be better is if the exhaust had 3 inch piping. The pipings pretty small and these cars love to breathe. All and all its more than worth the money.Helpful (0)

Installed this on my 2016 ecoboost, and if you want to turn heads, this is what to get. I was debating between this and the less expensive exhausts and i am happy that i chose this. I wouldn’t want it any quieter.Helpful (1)

Very Fun and Definitely a Nice Addition
Makes a huge difference when it comes to the sound from your car. Personally, I enjoy the sound of the Borla ATAK more than the popular MBRP Race. Only took me a couple hours to install myself and I have never personally done anything exhaust related before.Helpful (0)

This exhaust is amazing, it really woke the car up. Everything fit perfectly. When cruising you can’t really hear it at around 2k RPMs but when you punch the throttle it screams and it sounds so good. Couldn’t be happier with the Borla ATAK.Helpful (0)

Rolling around at 2000 rpm the sound isn't all the aggressive. People can hear you coming but it's not a issue passing the 5-0. Throw the car into track or drag mode and it's a whole different story. This exhaust gives your car the sound of a built racecar. Accelerating all the way to to 4k and pulling off the throttle leaves all sorts of crack, Snapple and pop. Overall solid system and easy installation.Helpful (1)

Best exhaust for the money
This is the best sounding exhaust you can get for the money. Yes it’s a little pricier compared to others. It’s a famous name brand but you do get what you pay for. The packaging on this was great and everything was very secure. Install was not hard at all. The hardest thing about this exhaust is to get the tail pipes to look even. I suggest having a friend check as you rotate and adjust before tightening everything. The sound is great. It crackles and pops occasionally and when coasting with your foot off the gas you can hear it gurgle. Your never gonna get that v8 sound but this is as close as you can get for the money. If you wanna hear it even louder and crackle and scream add a downpipe to it. Just be warned it’s very loud.Helpful (3)

borla ATAK Cat-Back Exhaust ecoboost
this exhaust tottally changed my car from quiet to loud. on 87 gas its pretty loud but if you use 93 i felt like the car got much louder and aggressive. this exhaust sounds good fits good. i love itHelpful (0)
What is the most aggressive exhaust I can find on the market for my Ecoboost It is hard to tell by the videos Thanks
The Borla ATAK Cat-Back Exhaust (15-17 EcoBoost) is going to be one of the more aggressive Exhausts you can get. The sound is quite distinct, so you will stand out from the bunch. A lot of big name brands tend to have the same tone to them. Borla makes a head turning Exhaust. I do recommend going on Youtube to watch different videos of the same Exhaust System. This will give you a better idea of what it actually sounds like.
Does this exhaust system come in black?
Unfortunately, the Borla ATAK Cat-Back Exhaust is only available with the Stainless Steel tips at the time. The exhaust system is not available in a black finish.
Is this exhaust legal in California? How loud is this exhaust? Will I get in trouble with the police?
The Borla ATAK Cat-Back Exhaust will install after all emissions control equipment, making this have no issues with smog testing or emissions. This is a fairly loud exhaust with an aggressive note, so depending on your local laws, this may violate sound ordinances.
What kind of downpipe should I use for this cat back?
There isn't really a correct answer here, other than, one that will fit. This is designed to fit an otherwise stock Mustang, so as long as the down pipe you get also fits an otherwise stock Mustang, they will fit together. Otherwise, get whatever you want!
I have a eco 2019, if I install the borla, may I lose warranty?
Yes, the stock piping is indeed 2.25 inches in diameter. Borla offers a more efficient design, as well as a straight through muffler, which offers better exhaust flow when compared to stock.
Due to design differences between EcoBoost and V6 models, this exhaust will not bolt onto a V6 model as it would for its designed setup for the EcoBoost.
This would not require any other mods for the install.
Since this is a 2.25" cat-back exhaust, it will work with the MBRP down pipe.
Unfortunately this exhaust will not fit the 15-18 EcoBoost convertible models due to the bracing.
Unfortunately, this Borla exhaust is not compatible with the Convertible Model EcoBoost mustangs due to the additional bracing.
