    Review & Install Video

I’m Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, and this is our detailed breakdown of the JLT Series 3 cold air intake system for the 2005-2009 Mustang GT. The first thing I notice when taking a look at this intake is the sheer size of everything, from the tube itself all the way down to that air filter, that’s going to be the big distinguishing factor with this intake versus some of its competitors. The series 3 features a massive 110mm MAF housing, which is one of the largest on the market today. This total combination is going to equate to more horsepower and torque at the rear wheels, and increase throttle response. The JLT features a 4.5” molded ABS plastic tube which is great at resisting engine bay heat especially when paired with that included heat shield. A nice thing about the series 3 is that it incorporates the MAF sensor housing right into the intake tube itself, eliminating the need for excess couplers or housings which can actually hurt your air flow. Due to the very large size of this JLT intake, running a performance tune is an absolute must, but before we go installing the intake and uploading our tune, we want to get a baseline number from our 06 GT back there just to see where we stand. With our baseline run out of the way we’re going to get to installing our intake which should only take us about an hour using standard hand tools. As I mentioned earlier, in order to properly run this JLT intake you will need a performance tune, we’re going to use our custom Bama tune which should really make the most out of our kit. This is going to do a couple of things for us, this is going to optimize our spark timing, adjust your variable cam timing, and get those air/fuel ratios right in the sweet spot. You’re also going to see improved throttle response as well. With our intake installed and our tune uploaded, let’s turn the rollers one more time and see how well the Series 3 performed on our GT. So our baseline run with our 2006 GT gave us 277 horsepower and 282 ft/lbs of torque. With our JLT installed, we put down 300 horsepower and 316 ft/lbs of torque making for a peak gain of 23 horsepower over our baseline numbers, and gains of 30 horsepower and 32 ft/lbs of torque throughout the curve. The Series 3 from JLT is for the Mustang enthusiast with all out performance in mind, the price is very competitive with other cold air intake kits on the market today, especially when you factor in how well it performs. Of course the added need for a tune will factor in to the overall price in the long run, but if you’re looking to get the most out of your naturally aspirated or supercharged 3 valve 4.6 motor, then the Series 3 is definitely worth checking out.

More Usable Horsepower. With a JLT Performance Series 3 Cold Air Intake and a custom tune installed in your 2005 to 2009 GT you can expect to see average gains of 25 to 30 more horsepower and 21 ft-lb torque at the rear wheels. In addition to an increase in horsepower you will also see an impressive improvement in throttle response.

110mm MAF Housing. With a massive 110mm MAF housing "the largest available on the market" this JLT Cold Air Kit was specially designed for Mustangs making over 350 RWHP, but works just as well on a stock daily driver.

Money Saving Reusable Filter. This JLT cold air intake kit comes complete with a 4.5" x 9" high flow reusable S&B powerstack air filter. So that means there is no need to go out and buy a new filter every few thousand miles. Now you can just clean the filter, re-oil it, save money, and go!

Easy Installation. The JLT Performance Cold Air Intake kit was designed to install with just basic hand tools. No extra modifications or special tools are required for an easy 1 hour installation.

Required Upgrade. Installation of this Cold Air Intake will require the use of a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for operation.

Application. This JLT Performance Series 3 Cold Air Intake System is specifically designed for use on naturally aspirated 2005 to 2009 GT and Bullitt Mustangs equipped with the 4.6L V8 engine. Will also fit GT's equipped with a Saleen Supercharger.

I just installed this intake on my 2007 gt. It is stock except for 4.10’s and I have the sct x4 tuner. I installed this intake and selected the jlt intake on my tuner, on my test drive I felt a big decrease in power and my check engine light came on. Says it’s running lean on bank 2?! Any suggestions? Hello I have a 2007 Mustang GT and I have a bama x4 tuner. My question is would my stock mass airflow sensor link up to the JLT or would I have to get a bigger mass airflow sensor? I'm stilll learning how to tune. Thanks 1 answer
I’m intrested In purchasing this product along with an air raid poweraid throttle body spacer I wanted to know if this would cause any clearing issues when installing both. Also is it necessarily ‘bad’ to run it without a tune for a little (3-4weeks) until I’m able to make it down to my local shop to tune.? 05 GT Owner Currently running stock. 1 answer

Went on easily. Only issue was the PCV line was too short. Had to purchase some new hose to replace it. Noticable feei on the seat of the pants dyno. Also love the change in sound from this addition

            Easy Install and Noticeable Gains

First off, the shipping was quick. Once I got it, install was a breeze. Tuned the car to it. Very noticeable throttle response and power gains. My car had another brand on CAI on it prior to changing to this and the difference is night and day. It looks great under the hood and does what is said it will do. By far the best intake system I've had on any of my cars thus far.

            Throatier Growl

I installed this in less than an hour and it was a breeze. Not too much performance gain has been noticed but once I step on it and get up over 3k rpm my Borla Stinger Cat-backs really roar! What a sound! No MPG gains have been noticed either, entirely because my driving style will not allow it! Paired with a Bama race tune this is a must add.

Very disappointed with with this. First of all AM should give a disclaimer that there is a good chance you will get a check engine light after install, also been back and forth for two weeks with tuning department trying to figure out what’s wrong. I’m not a tech guy so this has been frustrating!

I have an automatic mustang GT. The shift points are very responsive and direct on the race tune. The throttle is very touchy and responsive when in the lower 3 gears. Fantastic product!

Great add on to the engine!

I love the way this JTL cold air intake looks and performs. As far as performance I don’t notice a change but it’s realistically about 20 horse power with the tuner. When you press the pedal there is a change in sound since more air is being sucked in. Kind of like a faint swoosh sound. The physical appearance of the cold air intake under the hood is just awesome, I absolutely love it. I have the Shaker hood scoop so it just took some time to modify to pair with the JLT.

            Jlt series 3

Install was a breeze, it looks so much better than stock and it sucks in so much more air that you definitely need a tune for it. I have tried to crank up the car without the tune and it would even run at all but after the tune it's a while different car. And it sounds so much better too. Definitely worth it.
