    Review & Install Video

I’m Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, and this is our detailed breakdown of the JLT Series 3 cold air intake system for the 2005-2009 Mustang GT. The first thing I notice when taking a look at this intake is the sheer size of everything, from the tube itself all the way down to that air filter, that’s going to be the big distinguishing factor with this intake versus some of its competitors. The series 3 features a massive 110mm MAF housing, which is one of the largest on the market today. This total combination is going to equate to more horsepower and torque at the rear wheels, and increase throttle response. The JLT features a 4.5” molded ABS plastic tube which is great at resisting engine bay heat especially when paired with that included heat shield. A nice thing about the series 3 is that it incorporates the MAF sensor housing right into the intake tube itself, eliminating the need for excess couplers or housings which can actually hurt your air flow. Due to the very large size of this JLT intake, running a performance tune is an absolute must, but before we go installing the intake and uploading our tune, we want to get a baseline number from our 06 GT back there just to see where we stand. With our baseline run out of the way we’re going to get to installing our intake which should only take us about an hour using standard hand tools. As I mentioned earlier, in order to properly run this JLT intake you will need a performance tune, we’re going to use our custom Bama tune which should really make the most out of our kit. This is going to do a couple of things for us, this is going to optimize our spark timing, adjust your variable cam timing, and get those air/fuel ratios right in the sweet spot. You’re also going to see improved throttle response as well. With our intake installed and our tune uploaded, let’s turn the rollers one more time and see how well the Series 3 performed on our GT. So our baseline run with our 2006 GT gave us 277 horsepower and 282 ft/lbs of torque. With our JLT installed, we put down 300 horsepower and 316 ft/lbs of torque making for a peak gain of 23 horsepower over our baseline numbers, and gains of 30 horsepower and 32 ft/lbs of torque throughout the curve. The Series 3 from JLT is for the Mustang enthusiast with all out performance in mind, the price is very competitive with other cold air intake kits on the market today, especially when you factor in how well it performs. Of course the added need for a tune will factor in to the overall price in the long run, but if you’re looking to get the most out of your naturally aspirated or supercharged 3 valve 4.6 motor, then the Series 3 is definitely worth checking out.

More Usable Horsepower. With a JLT Performance Series 3 Cold Air Intake and a custom tune installed in your 2005 to 2009 GT you can expect to see average gains of 25 to 30 more horsepower and 21 ft-lb torque at the rear wheels. In addition to an increase in horsepower you will also see an impressive improvement in throttle response.

110mm MAF Housing. With a massive 110mm MAF housing "the largest available on the market" this JLT Cold Air Kit was specially designed for Mustangs making over 350 RWHP, but works just as well on a stock daily driver.

Money Saving Reusable Filter. This JLT cold air intake kit comes complete with a 4.5" x 9" high flow reusable S&B powerstack air filter. So that means there is no need to go out and buy a new filter every few thousand miles. Now you can just clean the filter, re-oil it, save money, and go!

Easy Installation. The JLT Performance Cold Air Intake kit was designed to install with just basic hand tools. No extra modifications or special tools are required for an easy 1 hour installation.

Required Upgrade. Installation of this Cold Air Intake will require the use of a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for operation.

Application. This JLT Performance Series 3 Cold Air Intake System is specifically designed for use on naturally aspirated 2005 to 2009 GT and Bullitt Mustangs equipped with the 4.6L V8 engine. Will also fit GT's equipped with a Saleen Supercharger.

    • The JLT Performance Series 3 Cold Air Intake and Bama Tuners can be paired together. However, if your friends tuner is still married to his vehicle you will need to have the device unlocked so it can be used with your Mustang.

Do you have to oil up the filter or will it run just fine without spraying the filter with oil?

    • From my understanding, the filter will come pre-oiled. However, it will need to be re-oiled after cleaning it.

Hello I have a 2007 Mustang GT and I have a bama x4 tuner. My question is would my stock mass airflow sensor link up to the JLT or would I have to get a bigger mass airflow sensor? I'm stilll learning how to tune. Thanks 1 answer
I purchased this CAI a while back. While having some work done at a local shop they misplaced the two screws for the MAF. Is there any way I can just get two more of these screws? 1 answer
I’m intrested In purchasing this product along with an air raid poweraid throttle body spacer I wanted to know if this would cause any clearing issues when installing both. Also is it necessarily ‘bad’ to run it without a tune for a little (3-4weeks) until I’m able to make it down to my local shop to tune.? 05 GT Owner Currently running stock. 1 answer

I just installed this intake on my 2007 gt. It is stock except for 4.10’s and I have the sct x4 tuner. I installed this intake and selected the jlt intake on my tuner, on my test drive I felt a big decrease in power and my check engine light came on. Says it’s running lean on bank 2?! Any suggestions? Hello, I have a 2009 GT/CS with a CDC Shaker installed; is the heat shield on this CAI easy to cut a hole into for the Shaker's tube to reach it and provide air at higher speeds? I really want to upgrade to a CAI but I also love the Shaker, so I would prefer to keep the shaker and have it functional as well. Thanks 1 answer

I have a Cervini's Ram Air Type IV hood on my gt that does not have the ram air ducting for the stock air box. I am in the market for a cold air that i would not have to worry about driving the car in the rain with the open hood vents. Would this JLT have enough protection from the water or would i need to look at something else? Or do I need to pair a cold air with the cervini ram air kit that bolts up under the hood paired with a cold air? Just not sure what the best route would be with the hood. Thank you ahead of time for helping me. 1 answer

      Cold Air intake

Bought the jlt cold air intake easy to put on comes ready to go and boy does it help give my 09 mustang more power. Dont forget to buy the bama tuner with it. Tuner is easy to use and I put a 91 tune on my car and it just opened it up more horse power. I'm very satisfied with my purchases. If you own a mustang it's a must have.

      Great purchase.

Super easy install, took about 20 minutes. Really changed my exhaust tone. Much more mellow while idling, but when I step on it she roars. The heat shield does make my hood stick up a sixteenth of a inch, no big deal really, I will sand it down. Tuning it was easy. Worth the money.

      Amazing sound and performance.

This intake had an amazing growl coming from under the hood and not only that sound was there but combined with the Bama race tune and a full exhaust you can definitely feel the power increase and torque as soon as you touch the throttle.
