      Hey guys, Adam here with And today we're taking a quick look at and installing the JLT V3 Oil Separator or Catch Can available for the passenger side of all 2015 and newer Demon and Hellcat Challengers. You should be checking this out if you're looking for an easy to install part that can expand the lifetime or the life span of your v8 engine, something that's going to collect all the oil sludge and residue into a catch can, make it easier to clean and prevent it bogging down your engine. Now, an oil separator, otherwise known as a catch can, does just that. It's gonna basically filter out all your oil passing through your engine, catching all the debris and all the sludge that can be created by oil residue that would otherwise coat the inside of your intake manifold or your blower in this case and bog down your engine. That's not something that you want to happen. An oil separator can cure that by adding a honeycomb mesh filter into this three ounce oil catch can. JLT makes these out of an anodized build aluminum. This one in particular is in the satin finish. Again, it's a three ounce catch can so when it comes time for routine maintenance when you're changing your oil, you're basically just gonna unscrew this guy, this guy will be filled up, toss it out and screw it back in. It's that simple.This is one of those few parts that has absolutely zero downsides and pretty much all upsides just because it's just gonna help reduce the amount of sludge that can build up over time. Now, this isn't something that reaps benefits almost immediately but over time you can start to see this having a lasting impact on your engine's lifespan. This guy here is gonna install in place of your PCV breather hose. It's gonna basically put the filter in between that hose where it was otherwise just absent and it's gonna help filter out all those materials. Now the filter itself uses a honeycomb mesh filter that's gonna collect all the sludge into this catch can while allowing the good oil without the sludge to pass straight back through into the engine and cycle through like it normally would. This guy is gonna install pretty much front and center directly in front of your radiator fan but it's gonna be out of the way of all engine components so it's very subtle, very easy to access, kinda blends in with the engine bay especially with the satin finish and is otherwise really simple to install. Price tag for this guy comes in right around 200 bucks. For the install, I'm giving one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. There's no drilling, no nonsense. It's gonna take you about 15 minutes or so to get installed. So, what do you say we get started?Tools used in this install include: a ratchet, 15-millimeter deep socket and a Phillips head screwdriver. Now the uninstall is pretty simple. Because we're working with a supercharged hemi here on the Hellcat, I'm gonna pop off this valve cover. Now you don't have to take it completely off. Just enough just to get a little bit more access on this hose here. This PCV hose is exactly what you're gonna pop off. The white connector down here, you're gonna basically pinch and disconnect there. Rotate this guy around until you get to this tab, pull back and pop that guy off. All right. Set that guy aside. Now, directly under this drive belt of the serpentine belt here there's a little stud coming off the block. We're gonna take one of those 15-millimeter nuts and we're gonna thread this backwards onto the stud first. We're gonna create, sort of, a jam nut collar. You just wanna be careful you don't drop that guy in the engine bay. You're gonna thread this backwards all the way down to the bottom of the stud. All right. Just like that. Now we're gonna insert our bracket and then follow it up with another nut facing the correct direction and we're gonna tighten them up against each other so the bracket stays on that stud. All right. So we're gonna insert the bracket right over the stud and follow this up with the nut.Now it might be easier to just insert the bracket onto the stud and let it lay down in the engine bay just for a second while you work the nut back on and then before you tighten it down, just make sure you're standing the bracket up. All right. Now these are 15 millimeters so you can grab your socket and tighten that guy down. All right. For this, you just wanna make sure your bracket is straight up. Grab your socket. You wanna go underneath of that belt. You're just gonna hold that up in position and tighten it down up against the back of the other nut and then from there we can move on. All right. Now it's a little tight but we're gonna start mounting this JLT oil separator to the bracket. The T side, this hose, is gonna go behind the bracket toward the valve and the J side hose or the left side is gonna go underneath the bracket to the valve stem on the block. All right. So we're gonna mount this up to the bracket just like that using the Phillips heads included in the kit. So line up the pre-drilled screw holes and tighten them down. I'm just gonna get these guys in by hand a bunch of thread so it holds it in place. Grab your Phillips head screwdriver and tighten them down. Okay. Now we can connect our hoses. All right. So you're just basically gonna feed the T-side hose with this 90 degree elbow over to the valve and you're gonna push it till it snaps in just like that and put our valve cover back on just like that, and now we can connect our other hose.All right. So now we can go underneath of the first hose with the other hose and connect it to the remaining fitting and you're good to go. That's gonna wrap up my review and install for the JLT V3 Oil Separator or Catch Can for the passenger side of the '15 and newer Demon and Hellcat Challengers. You can get yours right here at
