    Hey, guys, Stephanie with, and this is my review and an install of the Magnaflow Competition Axle-Back Exhaust, fitting 2015 and up GT Mustangs. We're gonna cover a few things with this exhaust in this video. Mainly we're talking about the sound of the axle-back, the materials, and the install. The install for this is easy. It's a two out of three wrenches in the difficulty meter, but only because you do need to cut in order to install an axle-back on an S550, but we'll talk about that more later. The Magnaflow Competition Axle-Back is going to be a good option for the S550 GT owners out there that are looking for a deep sound and a smooth exhaust tone. I wouldn't call this system quiet, but it's not loud either, so it's a perfect option for those of you out there that are looking for something in between. The sound that this axle-back offers is what I consider a low rumbling growl. It's not a loud and raspy system, but it does give a smooth sound. Overall, this is a deep sounding system that doesn't have a lot of raspiness and popping to it. It's got some volume to it, and keep in mind that this is just an axle-back, so just know that it can get even louder with a mid-pipe and headers. With that being said, I'm gonna give it a solid two or three out of five on the loudness scale. At the end of the day, though, no matter if you love this sound or hate it, it really all depends on what you're looking for and what you like, and luckily there are quite a few options out there. So the sound that this offers is courtesy of the full stainless steel system that's mandrel-bent. It's a two and a half inch system with four and a half inch polished stainless steel tips for out back. The axle-back is designed to be more free-flowing and reduces a little back pressure, and the mufflers are also straight through mufflers. And I always say this, but stainless steel is always a great option for the cars that see all different types of road conditions, because it offers great corrosion resistance. When we start to look at price, this axle-back is on the more expensive side of things. It's gonna cost between $750 and $800. So it's up there with the likes of Borla, but there's still the Ford Racing and Corsa offerings that are a bit more expensive. If this is out of your price range, there are a ton of exhaust options for the S550, so you can always check out some of those. You're gonna be looking at the typical cut and clamp design with the install for this axle-back since you do need to cut all S550 axle-backs. We're gonna call this a two out of three wrenches on the scale, but only because of the cutting that's involved. It's nothing difficult, but I just recommend some eye protection and a fresh blade to make the cutting easier. Overall, you're looking at about two hours to get this all done. A lift would certainly make things easier for you here, but the job can be done on jack stands as well if you don't have access to one. Cutting the factory axle-back isn't hard. Just be sure to measure twice and plan to mark where you'll be cutting so you don't make a mistake. The new axle-back will come with new clamps for you, so you don't have to worry about that. When you go to install your new setup, it'll probably be easiest to leave everything loose until you have it all lined up and then tighten it down. Overall, the Magnaflow Competition Axle-Back is a two and a half inch stainless steel axle-back that's a great option for those looking for a sound that's in the middle of the road when it comes to volume. It offers a smooth and deep sounding exhaust tone from straight-through mufflers, and it has four and a half inch tips for out back.     Paired with an Mishimoto or HeartThrob, which one will have the less drone ?

    • For minimal drone, I would recommend the Mishimoto over the Heartthrob mid-pipe.

    I already for a Ford aftermarket X pipe installed on my Mustang and removed the factory resonator. If I purchase the axle-back exhaust, does the clamp system go from my existing x-pipe to the back?

    • This and other Axle-Back exhausts will connect to the exhaust near the rear axle. To connect to the x-pipe, you would want to look at cat-back systems.

    The 3" Mandrel-Bent Tubing are 3" at one end and 2.5" at the other hand? For example if I want to use the Mishimoto H Pipe which is 2.5" : will it fits perfectly?

    • Yes, both the axle back and H-pipe would work together as long as the joining pipe between them is also 2.5 inches.

    Will this system be compatible with the Corsa double helix X pipe, I have the Xtreme system installed but wanted to change out axle backs

    • Unfortunately the Magnaflow Competition Axle-Back Exhaust will not be compatible with your Corsa Xtreme Cat Back Exhasut.

      Old school deep sound

      It sounds great at idle. Too much drone between 1500-2500 rpm. Installed today by a mechanic shop. $195 for installation. It’s a daily driver car. I kept the original muffler just in case the drone noise become too much so I can swap it back to the original muffler.

      Nice sound

      Installed this with the help of a mechanic friend and banged it out in under an hour. Gave my 2017 GT a much deeper sound with a little more volume. There's no popping or raspy sounding exhaust note here. Ultimately I decided that I did not want to go overboard and be a cop magnet in the car with a very loud exhaust so I decided this was the best option for me and I'm not disappointed I chose Magnaflow.

      Great product!

      Sounds awesome! My Mustang sounds like a real racing car. There is a noticeable drone noise in the cabin, since I connected it with an X-pipe, but overall I love the loudness and it works great! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants their car to have that rumbling in idle and screams when stopping onto the throttle in low gear.

      Magnaflow Competition rocks!

      I combined my Magnaflow Competition with the MRT h-pipe. This combo has given new life to my S550 with a deep throaty sound and improved acceleration felt in the seat of my pants. I couldn't be happier. The install went smooth with great fitment.

      Excellent choice

      Excellent choice for my Mustang, a very low aggressive growl when you star it up with a very aggressive tone when your on teh gas. Best of all when you're cruising theirs no drone at all.

      Low and LOUD- Great sound

      Great rumble at low throttle and nice and LOUD wide open! Took 25 minutes with a saws all, an air ratchet and a hoist! Paid a muffler shop $80 for install and watched. Great fit and finish...
