Hi I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m breaking down Magnaflow’s Magnaflow Cat-Back exhaust, fitting the 94-98 Mustang GT and Cobra. Magnaflow has built a reputation by producing great fitting, quality exhausts and that continues to be the case here with the Magnapack, this aggressive exhaust is sure to give any 5.0 or 4.6L SN95 a serious exhaust note, thanks to these two straight through design Bullitt style Magnapack mufflers, which are of course a throwback to the classic glass packs of the 60’s and 70’s. Getting back to the quality, we’re looking at a full stainless steel construction throughout. From the 2.5” mandrel bent tubing which features some very nice welds, these Magnapack mufflers and finally these massive 3.5” tips, which exit of the stock location. Because Ford decided to weld the factory exhaust with these SN95’s, you will need to cut the factory tailpipes just behind the muffler, using a saw or something similar before getting started with the install. Once you get that out of the way, getting the new Magnaflow installed should only take you about 2 hours from start to finish. Now let’s hear how Magnaflow’s Magnapack sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

This magnapacks sounds amazing on my 96 cobra, everyone says its loud at wot but its really not it's like one step above factory, it maybe louder with a x pipe put with factory cats it's just a lil louder, but adds a deep American sound through full rpms. I'd recommend this product, fitment did take the shop some cutting , pipe was a hair to long on one side.Helpful (0)

Great sound, poor quality control on the tips
This system was pretty straightforward but labeling the parts from magnaflow would have been nice. On my ‘98 GT Convertible they are very different on each side. Using the layout provided in the instructions helped but simply putting a drivers or passenger side label on each part would be great. Either engraved or an easily removable or burns off label could have saved me some time. Got a fat lip when the muffler fell on my face trying to swap them around once I realized the wrong sides. Another helpful tip is to raise the body, letting the rear axle hang, was really helpful if you don’t have a lift. Had to remove my rear wheels as well. Just made getting at everything all the easier and more room to slip those mandrel bent pipes in. Now on to my complaint and why they didn’t receive a 5 star. The tips have the groves on the pipe side for clamping them down. Poor quality on those slits made my life miserable and added at least an hour to the install. After fighting to get them on and not able to slide forward enough I took them off. The pipe was all scraped up. The slits were extremely rough and stuck out inside which was binding then up. I got my dremel out and ground the ridges flush and the tips slid on like they were buttered. Disappointed someone who checks these didn’t feel that. It was sticking out enough, and sharp enough, that they cut my finger. Apart from this, an excellent choice and incredible Father’s Day gift from my kids. Love the sound yet not enough to drown out conversation or radio inside. Even with the top down. Now my GT sounds like Mustang is supposed to.Helpful (7)

I wanted aggressive tone and I got it
From idle to full throttle, this is just what I was looking for. I have a 98 Cobra with a BBK X pipe with cats and the Magnaflow Comp Catback. Definitely a head turner and worth every cent. Props also to American Muscle's video, which accurately described the exhaust.Helpful (7)

This catback is by far one of my few favorites paired with a off road x pipe and you have a very aggressive exhaust note. Would recommend to anyoneHelpful (9)

Just installed the Magnaflow Magnapacs Competition Cat Backs, along with a Pypes Offroad Catted X mid pipe. And it brought the stang to life. It sounds deep and roars when you get into it. But if you are just idling or driving down the road its not too loud and no drone. But you get into the pedal and you hear it! Sounds amazing!Helpful (8)

Exactly what we needed loud and proud make sure the neighbors know when your getting home. Woke my GT convertible right up. Add your off road pipes and can't beat the performance or roar that it lets out when you decide to nudge the 4.6 in pronouncing itself.Helpful (8)

I would have given this five stars if I had only received all the pieces in the initial order. Other than that this is a great exhaust system loud and deep!!!!Helpful (7)

This exhaust sounds phenomenal. I have a 98 Cobra with a bbk x pipe without cats and this catback. Love the way it sounds!Helpful (8)
Does this have to be wielded in or is it a bolt in
This is a bolt-on system, no welding is required.
Hello A.M. team, I am looking to get a nice throaty muscle car sound out of my exhaust. After researching for a while I am thinking that the best option would be BBK Ceramic Long Tube Headers, BBK Catted X-Pipe and Magnaflow Compitition Cat-back exhaust. What are your thoughts on this afore mentioned setup? Also will this setup work with one another and is this all I need or will I need adapters or anything else? Any help is appreciated, thank you kindly.
Exhaust note is personal preference, and while we like this setup, the Magnaflow Competition Cat-Back Exhaust will tend to give a more raspy, racey tone to the exhaust, especially when paired with an X pipe. No adapters will be needed for the setup you described, and all components will work together.
Would this fit my 98 v6 if i got an h pipe? specifically the mac H pipe?
Yes, this exhaust is compatible with this exhaust and Mac H-pipe.
Will this exhaust fit on a V6 if I have a pacesetter dual conversion kit?
Yes, The Magnaflow Competition Cat-Back Exhaust will fit with the PaceSetter V6 Dual Exhaust Adapter Kit for your 94-98 v6 Mustang. The PaceSetter v6 Dual exhaust adapter may require some cutting and welding for proper fitment on your Mustang, but the Magnaflow cat-back will bolt on. I have provided the link below for the adapter. https://www.americanmuscle.com/pacesetter-adapter-kit-9498v6.html
Will this hook up to the BBK catted x-pipe?
Hello! The Magnaflow Competition Cat-Back Exhaust is designed to fit with the factory exhaust system, and may require a bit of modification to mount with your BBK X pipe.
Hello! According to Magnaflows Dyno chart, with this Magnaflow Competition Cat-Back Exhaust, you can see about 10-20 HP/TQ throught out the RPM range!
Unfortunately, we do not offer these muffler separately.
Yes, the PaceSetter V6 Dual Exhaust Adapter Kit will allow you to bolt up any GT catback, including the Magnapack Exhaust. Hope this helps!
