Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com, here taking a closer look at the MBRP Race Catback Exhaust with H-Pipe, available for all 2015 GT Mustangs in three different choices, aluminized, stainless steel, and stainless steel with black tips. MBRP has been in the performance exhaust game for nearly 20 years, and when word of the new S550 Mustang dropped, these guys wasted no time getting started on some new exhaust systems. These systems have been built to perform by maximizing flow and minimizing exhaust temperatures. They're also specifically tuned to get the most optimal sound out of your new Mustang, which means that they can be civilized when you want them to be, and aggressive when you don't, and the results of this new design will not leave you disappointed. MBRP designed these H-Pipe and Catback combos to not only have that classic muscle car sound but to also be able to withstand anything that the road throws at them. They feature three-inch mandrel-bent tubing, and the aluminized steel version that we have installed in our 2015 today not only adds strength to the system, but it also protects against corrosion. The stainless steel version of this system is made from rugged T409 16-gauge stainless steel, which means it'll be able to withstand anything that you dare drive your S550 through. And the black tips are available for those of you looking for an aggressive look to match its aggressive sound. The race series mufflers in all systems are stamped with the classic MBRP logo. The stainless steel and aluminized options both feature four-and-a-half inch polished tips, while the black-tipped version features four-and-a-half-inch black powder-coated stainless steel tips. Since these systems are a direct bolt-on for the 2015 GT Mustang, you guys don't have to worry about having to make any modifications or doing any cutting or welding. They are a direct replacement for your factory exhaust, and getting everything installed should take you about two hours or less. Everything is even a direct fit to the OEM hangers, and you get all the clamps and parts you need in the box. If you guys have any questions, as always, you can always reach out to one of our many Mustang experts using the 800 number, and they'd be more than happy to lend a fellow Mustang owner a hand. So, if you're looking to add some more performance and a tone to match the muscle behind your new S550 GT Mustang, then be sure to check out one of these Race Catback and H-Pipe Exhaust systems from MBRP, a leader in aftermarket exhausts, available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Aggressive Sound And Performance. Now you can add a deep aggressive exhaust note to your coyote powered GT Mustang with a MBRP Race Series Cat-Back Exhaust System that has been specifically tuned to get the optimal sound from your 2015-2017 GT Mustang. Muscle Car Rumble. The included H-Pipe not only helps increase power, but it also adds a deep muscle car rumble to the sound of your exhaust with its classic "H" crossover pipe design.

Durable Aluminized Steel Construction. Constructed from 3" diameter aluminized steel tubing for strength and corrosion resistance, this MBRP Cat-Back exhaust system features two high flow race mufflers that end with 4.5" polished 304 stainless steel slant cut exhaust tips. As an added bonus the tips are etched with the "MBRP" logo for true custom styling.

How does this MBRP race catback compare to exhausts like the Borla ATAK catback or the Borla S-Type Catback in terms of noise/decibel level?

    Teddy

    • Sounds just as mean as the Flowmaster Outlaw cat back system. Very, very loud. True Mustang sound. The video does not compare to how mean it sounds. Everytime I ride in it I still can't believe how nice it sounds. It even sounds better outside the car.

      awesome muscle car sound

This exhaust sounds great on my car. It took about 1 1/2 hours to install. It is a little louder than I expected, but not too loud. Definitely an improvement over the stock sound. It has a little bit of a drone in the cabin during certain points of acceleration, but not too bad. I give it a big thumbs up.

      4.5 of 5 stars

The exhaust is simply best bang for your buck. The H pipe gives it that raw muscle sound and I got 6bhp from the kit which was an awesome surprise. But there is one tiny drawback 2000 rpms at high speed has a bit of a drone. Another plus was the super easy install

MBRP Race Cat Back- 2016 GT

Looks and sounds great, the drone only gets bad when flooring it in 6th gear on the highway. Just need to drop back down to 5th when accelerating and it's fine. The only issue with the install was getting the black powder coated tips centered in the rear cutouts. I had to back them way out before clamping in order to center them.

      MBRP for the Win!

Paired with BBK 1 7/8 long tube headers and my goodness does it sound amazing! It reminds me of the old deep muscle car tone and at high rpms doesn’t sound like a ricer or vibrating tin can! This is definitely what I was looking for. If your looking for the deep tone this is what you want. I couldnt be more pleased with the sound and install took maybe 30min on jack stands.

      Better than I expected!

I was hesitant to pull the trigger on this setup, but I'm very happy. Especially after reading some complaints about "drone." it is certainly audible in the cabin through the low 2ks. Nothing that bothers me or my wife. (she's a non car person, and she loves the sound) From the outside it sounds so nasty on a cold start, at idle you can clearly tell its aftermarket, WOT it screams. A lot of people ask about the setup and most car people cant believe its an MBRP. Well worth the $.

Easy to install, took about an hour and a half with an impact to help. Nice deep sound makes for nice rides with the windows down. Little bit of drone but only in between 1500-2000 rpm. Not too loud not to quiet. No complaints from the neighbors that is

Review from MBRP Black Series Cat-Back Exhaust w/ H-Pipe - Race Version (15-17 GT)

      Awesome

As a child of the 60's and 70's, I grew up with the original muscle cars and always loved the look and the sound. My biggest concern was the noise in the cabin. I was pleasantly surprised. Don't get me wrong, you hear it but it is not annoyingly loud. I love the look and feel. My husband installed it alone (I was at work) in 2 hours.

      MBRP cat back race version

Hardest part was getting the factory exhaust out, boy that resonator is heavy! Install is straight forward and fitment is spot on. Tips are perfectly centered at valence opening. The sound is good, will add the long tubes to enhance sound and performance, when I can afford them.

For the price you can’t beat it. It sounds great and looks good with the black tips. Has a tiny bit of drone but it’s not unbearable I don’t mind driving long distances with it. My only complaint is the hpipe came bent at the tip but American Muscle got me situated asap.

      Makes the 2015 V6 sound beastly. ^_^

After discovering that my V6 had the same factory catback connections after some experimentation I soon purchased a budget MBRP Street system about a year ago. I was happy at first but after break in realized it was much quieter and buzzier than my original cut and clamp gt x pipe with Roush axle backs. So to get my volume back I searched for used MBRP race catbacks for months and thanks to this past Black Friday I finally found them at a reasonable enough price to buy a 2nd MBRP exhaust. Just a side note but I have a procharger shorty headers and BMR motor mounts as well. At idle, both systems have the same deep rumble but the Race version has an obvious higher volume and you can hear the firing of each cylinder even while in the car. On acceleration the Street system is deep at first then gets distorted and raspy toward redline. The Race is less distorted under load and carries the deep tone through all RPMs. When attached to the V6 both systems have the dreaded drone between 1700-2100 RPM during low speed, slow acceleration. At highway speeds you can still easily hold a conversation. In all honesty these systems would probably be quieter with stock headers and engine mounts, which are probably the amplifying force behind my drone experience. Overall for the price point, easy install, and sound you can't go wrong with either the MBRP Street or Race catback. Furthermore, the 3in piping didn't cause any loss in low end power even when the car wasn't boosted.
