Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com, here taking a closer look at the MBRP Race Catback Exhaust with H-Pipe, available for all 2015 GT Mustangs in three different choices, aluminized, stainless steel, and stainless steel with black tips. MBRP has been in the performance exhaust game for nearly 20 years, and when word of the new S550 Mustang dropped, these guys wasted no time getting started on some new exhaust systems. These systems have been built to perform by maximizing flow and minimizing exhaust temperatures. They're also specifically tuned to get the most optimal sound out of your new Mustang, which means that they can be civilized when you want them to be, and aggressive when you don't, and the results of this new design will not leave you disappointed. MBRP designed these H-Pipe and Catback combos to not only have that classic muscle car sound but to also be able to withstand anything that the road throws at them. They feature three-inch mandrel-bent tubing, and the aluminized steel version that we have installed in our 2015 today not only adds strength to the system, but it also protects against corrosion. The stainless steel version of this system is made from rugged T409 16-gauge stainless steel, which means it'll be able to withstand anything that you dare drive your S550 through. And the black tips are available for those of you looking for an aggressive look to match its aggressive sound. The race series mufflers in all systems are stamped with the classic MBRP logo. The stainless steel and aluminized options both feature four-and-a-half inch polished tips, while the black-tipped version features four-and-a-half-inch black powder-coated stainless steel tips. Since these systems are a direct bolt-on for the 2015 GT Mustang, you guys don't have to worry about having to make any modifications or doing any cutting or welding. They are a direct replacement for your factory exhaust, and getting everything installed should take you about two hours or less. Everything is even a direct fit to the OEM hangers, and you get all the clamps and parts you need in the box. If you guys have any questions, as always, you can always reach out to one of our many Mustang experts using the 800 number, and they'd be more than happy to lend a fellow Mustang owner a hand. So, if you're looking to add some more performance and a tone to match the muscle behind your new S550 GT Mustang, then be sure to check out one of these Race Catback and H-Pipe Exhaust systems from MBRP, a leader in aftermarket exhausts, available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Aggressive Sound And Performance. Now you can add a deep aggressive exhaust note to your coyote powered GT Mustang with a MBRP Race Series Cat-Back Exhaust System that has been specifically tuned to get the optimal sound from your 2015-2017 GT Mustang. This catback not only sounds great, but also improves exhaust flow with the included H-Pipe and High Flow Mufflers for an increase in rear wheel horsepower and torque.

Muscle Car Rumble. The included H-Pipe not only helps increase power, but it also adds a deep muscle car rumble to the sound of your exhaust with its classic "H" crossover pipe design.

Durable Aluminized Steel Construction. Constructed from 3" diameter aluminized steel tubing for strength and corrosion resistance, this MBRP Cat-Back exhaust system features two high flow race mufflers that end with 4.5" polished 304 stainless steel slant cut exhaust tips. As an added bonus the tips are etched with the "MBRP" logo for true custom styling.

Direct Bolt-On Installation. Engineered to be a direct upgrade replacement for your Mustangs factory exhaust, the MBRP Race Cat-Back Exhaust Kit easily bolts up in the stock location with no modifications required.

How does this MBRP race catback compare to exhausts like the Borla ATAK catback or the Borla S-Type Catback in terms of noise/decibel level?

        • Sounds just as mean as the Flowmaster Outlaw cat back system. Very, very loud. True Mustang sound. The video does not compare to how mean it sounds. Everytime I ride in it I still can't believe how nice it sounds. It even sounds better outside the car.

This system was better than expected! It's a full 3 inch exhaust system all the way out the back everything bolted up using the stock hangers in perfect condition. Okay so I had access to a lift which helped because the installation only took about 20 minutes!

Do yourself a favor and buy this exhaust!

I first purchased my S550 Mustang GT back in December and the very first modification I did to it was weld in a set of Borla Stingers. They sounded really good until I had my BBK catless long-tubes installed. My exhaust literally sounded so bad that I was embarrassed to drive my car. So after watching thousands of videos over and over again, I finally decided to pull the trigger on this exhaust set up. I have owned 13 different Mustangs in which all had aftermarket exhausts installed on them and this is by far the best sounding one I have ever owned. I am telling you, do yourself a favor and go ahead and buy this catback. I installed this system with 2 jacks and 4 jack stands with only a little help from my step dad in under an hour. I think installing the JLT intake took longer than installing this catback. Although, for it to come with an H-pipe, yes this system is still sorta raspy. But I like raspy; that is just me though. And the topic on drone.. yes, there is drone in 6th gear highway driving. But cruising right at 70 mph, the drone is completely gone. I was a little skeptical at first in buying this exhaust, but I am more than happy that I did!

            Great with one set back

I love the exhaust, it was really easy to install only took me and a buddy about 45min. Love the sound, and I don't mind the drone. Only issue I had was with the way the exhaust was packaged. By the time it got to my door step and I opened the box, both of the tips were scratched/chipped and one of the outlets off the muffler was bent/misshaped making it difficult to get one of the tips on. I also helped a buddy install the same exhaust on his mustang and noticed the same issued I had with mine. Other than that its a great product.

            Stainless H-Pipe cat-back MBRP

Hello I would like to start by saying thanks to MBRP and American Muscle. I absolutely love this exhaust system, I installed myself and let me say it is very easy it took a little over 2 hours to install and I was satisfied with how easy everything fits and bolts together, it looks very nice and sounds aggressive. I would definitely recommend this cat-back to anyone out there. I want to also add that I used two car Jacks to lower the factory cat-back (one in front and one in back) with plywood in between the jack and exhaust system, and the jack in the rear I used a long piece of plywood and I placed the jack in the middle of the two axle back mufflers and I placed the board across to lower the mufflers.

Review from MBRP XP Series Cat-Back Exhaust w/ H-Pipe - Race Version (15-17 GT)

            CONVERTIBLE: Great For the Price

This is a quality set of catbacks, especially when you factor in the price. Great sound at idle and while in motion. There is drone as stated in the other reviews but I personally dont have a problem with it. If you don't want drone get a quieter option or a more expensive option. I installed these on my convertible and if you aren't aware there is an extra brace on the bottom of the car that you must remove for installation. The pipes clear the brace and you are able to put it back on after installation. However, I suggest zip-tying some sort of heat resistant foam in between the pipes and the brace where they cross to avoid them making contact after these cat-backs settle in. About three days after installation I noticed random rattling and realized it was due to the catbacks settling in to the hangers and making some contact with the brace. The foam inserts that I fashioned from a piece foam i picked up at home depot instantly solved the problem.

            Lots of Drone

While My 2016 performance pack was in the shop the dealer gave me a used 2015 with this cat-back on it. The car was an auto which probably didn't help but the drone was unbearable. I only had the car for 3 days but even time i got out of it I had a headache. On the bright side of things it sounded great under wide open throttle. If you anything like me there is no way this could be on a daily driver.

            Awesome

I will come right out and say its loud and just the way I wanted it... Low thumping tone. I will tell you that it has a significant amount of drone between 1800-2200 RPMs, almost deafing. My car is an automatic non PP model with the 3.18 rearend. But I love it.... as long as I don't spend a lot of time between 64-75 Mph. So its usually 62 or 80 Mph... At 80 you hear the exhaust with a wonderful note that will make you smile ear to ear.. But no drone at that speed what so ever... I'd say the drone frequency is around 90 hz when it does. Less than an hour with jack stands and my impact in the garage.

            MBRP Cat-back Race Exhaust (Black)

I love the sound and look of this catback race exhaust. It took me about an hour and 45 minutes to install using the video online. It was my first time installing an exhaust, so I had a few moments that took longer than expected. Someone who works on cars a lot, probably could knock it out in an hour. Other users have spoke about the drone at 2000 rpm when cruising, but I don’t mind it. I bought this particular exhaust because I wanted the car to have a deep and load sound profile.

Gives the car the sound it deserves.

I've had this system for about a month now and I have absolutely no complaints. The install was an easy 2 hours by myself on a set of ramps. Taking out the factory exhaust system makes you appreciate how light the MBRP system is. You're guaranteed to have a smile on your face the first time you start it up and every time you drive through a tunnel or past a wall. This system brings a great feel back to the car overall, it takes a bit of that refinement you have with a new vehicle and gives you back that raw muscle car feel.

Awesome sound and quality for the money... Deep and aggressive, loud and growls... May have to grind or sand down a couple places to get the fit of the tips to your liking... but not bad...If driving everyday and for extended periods of time might take a look at the non race version... But for those like myself who want the muscle era sound utilized with modern day performance of the 5.0 GT then this will continue to bring smiles to your face as it has mine.

The exhaust is simply best bang for your buck. The H pipe gives it that raw muscle sound and I got 6bhp from the kit which was an awesome surprise. But there is one tiny drawback 2000 rpms at high speed has a bit of a drone. Another plus was the super easy install

Looks and sounds great, the drone only gets bad when flooring it in 6th gear on the highway. Just need to drop back down to 5th when accelerating and it's fine. The only issue with the install was getting the black powder coated tips centered in the rear cutouts. I had to back them way out before clamping in order to center them.
