    Review & Install Video

Hey everybody I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and this is going to be my review of the MBRP Axle-Back Exhaust System available for your 2005 to 2010 Mustang GT in your choice of either an aluminized steel construction or a full stainless build. The MBRP System here is going to be for any '05 to '10 owner out there who is looking to get some more volume out of his or her ride but without emptying your wallet in the process. Now in fact the aluminized steel version which I do have on the table here in front of me is going to be one of the most affordable axle backs for your three-valve here on the site priced in line with that and some of the pipe stuff but yet a far cry from some of the more premium options such as Corsa or LTH. Sticking with the MBRP aluminized steel version I have here again, guys, a great budget system. But MBRP does offer again this same exact kit but in a full stainless version. It's going to offer all those durability and appearance benefits you come to expect from a stainless build, and it's only going to be a few bucks more, very reasonable overall. Now both systems do utilize the same formula. You're going to get some rounded chambered mufflers here, 2.5 mandrel bend on the tubing, finally 3.5 inch slash cut tips as per the MBRP logo. Now despite the difference in materials between the aluminized steel and full stainless, you can expect roughly the same tone from both systems thanks largely in part to the fact that they utilize the same muffler. After hearing this system in person and reading some of the reviews, I can definitely agree that this thing's going to offer a nice aggressive tone, but it's going to be clean overall, not very raspy or anything like that, offer a great presence with zero drone whatsoever. For that reason alone, I'm going to give it a solid three out of five on our overall loudness meter with one being close to relatively stock and five just being crazy loud. Moving on to the installation. Now getting a new axle-back installed onto your three-valve, not a big deal whatsoever. Very easy job. So for that reason alone, we're going to give it a solid one out of three wrenches on our overall difficulty meter. Now figure about an hour or two before you're making some noise, of course you want to have your jack and jack stands ready or ramps or a lift if you're one of the lucky ones out there and figure an assortment of hand tools, sockets, things like that and you should be able to get this thing banged out, no problem. So if you're on a tight budget or maybe you're saving up for some other mods but rolling around in a stock or quiet GT is certainly not going to apply, then I think the MBRP system here is going to be a great option for your '05 to '10 Mustang GT, and you can grab your set right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

True Muscle Car Exhaust Note. Now you can give your modern Mustang the aggressive exhaust note of a true muscle car with a MBRP Axle-Back Exhaust System that has been specifically tuned to get the optimal sound from your 2005-2010 GT Mustang.

Durable Stainless Steel Construction. Constructed from 2.5" diameter stainless steel tubing for strength and corrosion resistance, this MBRP Axle-Back exhaust system features two chambered mufflers that end with 3.5" polished 304 stainless steel slant cut exhaust tips. As an added bonus the tips are etched with the "MBRP" logo for true custom styling.

Direct Bolt-On Installation. Engineered to be a direct upgrade replacement for your Mustangs factory rear axle-back exhaust, the MBRP Axle-Back Exhaust Kit easily bolts up in the stock location with no modifications required.

Application. This MBRP Axle-Back Exhaust Kit is specifically designed to fit the 2005-2010 GT and Bullitt Mustangs equipped with the Modular 4.6L V8 engine.

      Marks gt

I put on Pypes headers and a cat less H pipe along with MBRP axial back mufflers . The combination was to loud for me so I just put my stock mufflers back on . With that said the quality, fit , is excellent. I really loved the large tips .

      Great mufflers!

I paired these mufflers up with an off road x pipe and vibrant resonators and it sounds amazing! Finally got the sound and tone I was looking for. Nice deep tone with no drone and loud enough to hear it but not be obnoxious. Fit and finish was spot on and lined up perfectly.

      MBRP Axle Back Exhaust

I had the MBRP Axle back mufflers put on yesterday on my son's 07 Mustang GT/CS. Deeper sound at start up, neighborhood friendly sound but when you get on it, sounds amazing. We love the look and sound! We took it to the local Muffler shop, cost $95 for the install, took about 40 min.

      Excellent Exhaust!

This exhaust sounds mean and has the deep tone with out being annoying ... I personally enjoy the growl of my and this exhaust enhanced the sounds! The car has a noticeable amount of power or pickup gain from replacement the factory exhaust. Definitely recommend this product

      GREAT sounding exhaust!!!

I gave it 3 stars on fit and Finish due to having to maove some brackets to make it fit and line up on my 2008 GT. Other than that, they are great no regrets with these.

      Great all around muffler

Absolutely fantastic axleback. Zero drone at all and very deep throaty but yet still nice and crisp tone. The tips look beautiful. I had Borla stingers before and installed longtubes and off-road H pipe due to a cat fail. The Borlas were ungodly and waking the dead loud! Even trying to keep it quiet you couldn't, at 1500 rpm it just screamed and was also really poppy. The MBRP are very mild until you want to make them wild. You can control the loudness of these and they are just perfect if you want a very nice sound level wise exhaust and have catless midpipe and headers. I loved Borla but after these went on I'll probably never go to another axleback. Install was very easy. The idle is awesome and chops perfectly and very crisp.

      Best Mufflers

I've had a lot of axle backs. Cords Xtreme, Flowmaster Outlaw, Flowmaster American Thunder, and the Stocks all with longtubes and off road H. These things are badass. They're pretty mellow which is awesome for driving around. People don't tell you how annoying it is not being able to drive fast on the street with loud exhaust that wakes up the entire neighbor hood. That being said, these mufflers have a deep rumble that sounds way cleaner than any of the above mufflers i've had. Fitment was great and the finish looks excellent.

Nice system with a couple flaws

I had this axle back on my car for a couple of years when I first got it. Pros: Looks good, mostly stainless construction (see the cons), comes with sweet looking double wall tips which few other axle backs in this price range have. I'm not a big fan of rolled edge tips and to me double wall tips have a little "higher end" look to them. Sounded good, surprisingly not too loud if you still have your stock cats. I swapped to a Magnaflow catted X and that made these things really sing! Sounded amazing at WOT but they were just a little too loud for my liking. Also, of the axle backs I've had on my car so far these were the best fitting out of the box, bar none. The tips both sat perfect in the bumper cutouts. Cons: My biggest complaints were with the construction and finish of these. When I took them out of the box the muffler cans were covered in weld splatter from where they welded the hangers on. I also found out after they were on the car for awhile that the hangers were welded on with regular steel wire, which meant that not only were the hanger welds getting rusty but I had rusty spots all over the muffler cans from the aforementioned splatter. I'm not sure why they would weld stainless hangers onto a stainless muffler with regular steel wire. I also noticed inside the mufflers before install that the louvers were not punched out the same size on both mufflers. Not sure if this is typical or not and very minor, but seemed weird to me.

      Great Power, Sound and Value

I too the GT500 to the shop for the install. They are built like motorcycle cans so I knew what to expect. They were quieter than the mechanics and I expected. Great rumble but definitely not like the 4" side pipes on my 66. Tailing throttle produces very subdued rumble and there is no drone on the highway. The guys had to beat on the hangers to get them to line up perfectly but they said that is normal. I have been driving them for a week and they are opening up and sounding better all the time. Buy these. You will save money and be glad you did. And, you can still roll in late without oissing off your neighbors.
