Jake: Jake here for American Muscle. And today we're taking a look at the PowerStop Z26 Extreme Street Carbon-Ceramic Front Brake Pads for 2015 and newer Challenger Hellcats and SRT 392s. Now, these are going to appeal to the Challenger owner who's looking for a way to easily upgrade their braking power without compromise. These are a high-quality, super low dust brake pad that's going to provide you with better overall braking performance without costing a fortune. These are perfect for the street-driven car that sees some additional high-performance driving, exactly what you need for something as powerful as a Challenger. Now, PowerStop focuses on one thing and one thing only, and that's brakes. So their mission is to deliver superior braking performance at an affordable price. And that's exactly what these pads deliver. PowerStop's proprietary carbon-fiber-ceramic compound provides excellent stopping power for street-driven muscle cars. These are going to provide excellent heat dissipation and solid braking no matter what the temperature because the compound also makes for a stable friction coefficient, even at higher temperatures. So that means, you'll avoid brake fade if you're going at it on your favorite back road, or if you happen to hit an autocross or a quick track day, and you're still going to maintain everyday drivability with these. Now, surfaces of the pads are also thermal scorched to make for a faster and more effective brake-in. So that means you're going to be able to get some peak performance out of these a lot quicker, with a lot less wearing in.Now, lots of upgraded brake pads also lead to a compromise when it comes to regular use such as, just say, driving around town with your family. Now, sometimes that might be a compromise in braking feel. So that initial bite might come on a bit later than it did with your stock brakes, but they might have better performance later on down the pedal travel, or they might bite really well initially, but they produce a ton of dust. However, that's not the case here. These are virtually no compromise in brake performance or feel. In fact, PowerStop claims that these pads are nearly dust-free. Now, no brake pad is entirely dust-free, just due to the nature of how these sorts of things work. But these are a super low dust formula that's going to keep your wheels a lot cleaner. And that's especially great if you have some nice aftermarket wheels on your car, or if you're like me and you just can't stand cleaning wheels at all. Now, moreover, these are also designed to operate with virtually no noise. So unlike a lot of other performance-oriented brake pads out on the market, you're not going to get that annoying squealing after the pads have broken in. That makes them an excellent choice for street-driven applications because you're not going to get that really annoying squeak or squealing noise that makes your car sound terrible every time you come to a stoplight or a stop sign. Now, mind you, if you're planning on doing some serious track duty with your Challenger, you might want to look into some more track-oriented pads, but for street driving, these are going to be an excellent choice. Now, back to the pads, also feature a powder-coated finish. So they're going to provide excellent corrosion resistance, making them durable and pretty much worry-free. You also get all new hardware in the box. So PowerStop includes premium stainless steel shims and new pins, in addition to high-temperature lubricant for better heat dissipation and noise-free operation. So if you're looking to upgrade to a pad without compromise and a focus on heat dissipation, these are going to be the best choice for you. Now, price-wise, this entire set is only going to run you about $100. And that is a really good value when it comes to a performance-oriented brake pad. It's going to far undercut some of the other options out there on the market for the Challenger. For what you get here, I think these are more than worth it, especially if your car sees mostly street duty. Now, installation is going to come in at a two out of three on our difficulty meter. This should only take you about two hours to swap in, and they are a direct bolt-in replacement for your stock brake pads. So that means this is easily a job that you can get done in your driveway at home. Just make sure you follow that brake-in procedure. And to show you how to do this install, let's throw it over to one of our AM customers right now.Male Speaker: Little ball pein hammer, any hammer will do. Small punch and then a little center punch. That's pretty much all you're really going to need. Now I'm going to take the wheel off, show you how simple it is and start to actually finish and pull the wheels, change the wheel disc, and put the wheels back on.Like I said earlier, doing the rear, it takes longer to pull them off and put them than it actually takes to change the brake pads. So, anybody can really do it. Small ball pein hammer, two punches, [inaudible 00:04:44]. That's one and that is two. [inaudible 00:05:22] on the thread so we will be putting the same back on there when we're ready to reassemble. And these pads come out the same way, [inaudible 00:05:36] getting them out. There we go, brand-new pads. Slide them in there, line it up with the holes. Line it up with the holes. You wanna use the new ones, you can, but like I said, this is a brand new car, line that pin back up. See, it goes over this groove right here. It's got a slide through going to the groove and the same with the [inaudible 00:06:35]. Hammer. You got to put pressure on it, obviously. That one's up. There we go. [Inaudible 00:07:31], 13-millimeter, tighten her up. Nice and tight, and that's it, you can put the wheel back on and tighten her up. All nice and tight. Now we're going to do the other side. Take the wheel off. Slide the bolt out, out it in here so you don't lose it. [inaudible 00:10:08] them up. A little bit easier to do it this way. Clean off the old [inaudible 00:11:13]. 13-millimeter wratchet and socket [inaudible 00:11:44] like we said earlier. Not going to be difficult to take off [inaudible 00:11:51].Jake: That's going to wrap it up for our review and install of the PowerStop Z26 Extreme Street Carbon-Ceramic Front Brake Pads for 2015 and newer Challenger Hellcats and SRT 392 models. Thank you so much for watching and remember, for all things Challenger, be sure to keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.
