Increase In Performance. Bolting on a Pypes True Dual Exhaust with Turndown Tips to a stock 1998-2004 V6 will yield an increase of 10 to 20 more horsepower! This Pypes V6 True Dual Exhaust Kit includes both the Catted X-Pipe and Cat-Back needed to give your Mustang an impressive throaty V8 sound and increase in rear wheel horsepower.

Turndown Tips. The Pypes V6 True Dual Exhaust Conversion kit is designed with tips that turn down under the rear bumper, similar to the 1987-1993 GT, so no cutting or modifications are required to the stock V6 rear bumper cover.

Catted X-Pipe design.
This Pypes catted x-pipe balances out the gas pressures in your exhaust system to create more power and torque than the factory Y-pipe. Why? Because the exiting exhaust pulses are merged at the "X", resulting in less exhaust back pressure for more power. Pypes High Flow Catalytic Converters are included.

Quality Materials.
Both the Catted X-Pipe and Cat-Back are constructed from mandrel bent, 2.50-inch, 409 stainless steel. The X-Pipe features welded reinforcement plates for additional strength and the Dual Cat-Back features Pypes Street-Pro 3-chamber mufflers for an aggressive throaty sound.

Application.
This Pypes True Dual Catted Exhaust - Turndown Tips is specifically designed to fit on any 1998-2004 3.8L or 3.9L V6 Mustang for more power and a more aggressive sound.Note: May require O2 extensions for proper fitment.

      will this fit a 95 v6

      • This particular exhaust will not fit properly on your 1995 V6. I've attached a Flowmaster Dual Exhaust Kit below that will fit properly though if you want to check it out! I've also attached the PaceSetter Dual Exhaust adapter, that you can use in combination with any 1994-1998 GT catback of your choice. Hope this helps!

What's the max decibels on the exhaust? Because in Colorado the max is 60 in commercial and 55 in residential so I really need a answer! Please let me know!

      • Unfortunately we do not have a decibel rating on any of our exhausts as this can be effected by a number of factors. The Pypes True Dual Catted Exhaust and all the exhausts we sell will likely far exceed 55 or 60 decibels, as this is around or under the volume of a stock Mustang's exhaust at wide open throttle.

Getting ready to install this system this weekend and I have never done this before, so excuse my ignorance, but there are two flanged pieces of pipe about 3 inches long. I'm not sure if I need them or not. The box with the X pipe and down tubes had two of these, and the box with the mufflers and tailpipes also has two of them. I don't see them mentioned in any of the instructions. Thanks. Looking forward to doing this this weekend, and want to do it right!

      • The Pypes True Dual Catted Exhaust should have 2 flanged flow pipes that go into the mufflers on one end, and have a flange on the other. There should only be two sections of these pipes.

          Nice sound

The mufflers with it are not loud at idle but open up at higher rpms. Which what I was after they also have a nice deep tone for a v6 not that bumblebee sound from most others. The install takes a little time to get right. I have a 98 and the crossmember wanted to hit. Had a issue with one of the cats but American muscle was excellent with helping my and no problems on there end.

          Great sound!

What everyone is saying about the fitment is true, but I don't really see how it can be made any better since not all cars are going to be exactly the same. I did this job in my garage with jackstands, and it was pretty difficult. More space under the car would've made a world of difference. If you can afford the labor, let a shop do the install. I do also agree with others that the instructions could be a bit more specific. Over all, I do love the sound and the turndown tips look great peeking out from under the bumper!

not exact fit The system is good but mine had a few problems. The pipes had to be cut was not bent properly so it caused the cat to hang one and a half inches to low. The left tail pipe bracket did not fit. to a muffler bend the down pipe and weld a bracket for the tail pipe. Unfortunatly this was not a complete do it yourself job. The system sounds great just wish I could have had the satisfaction of completing it myself.

          What sound do you want

Assembly and installation was fairly simple . Fit and finish good. However sound is not good if you are looking for a deep sound as i was this system is more of a tinny rattling sound . This would not the system you want . I plan to change mufflers to flow masters . Not good that i have to spend more to get what i wanted to start with !

          Very Poor

The instructions are very poor so you do have to figure out if anything fits. It doesn't. It would have been much easier and less expensive to have a system built at a muffler shop. I would definitely never buy these again and seeing the lack of quality I would never buy anything from this company again! I had to rate it one star I really wanted zero

          Not A Good Fit

Lots of problems. Rear hangers had to be cut and re welded. Mufflers didn't line up. X pipe wasn't bent right so the cats didn't fit. The shop had to cut, bend, and re weld a lot of stuff. Cost me more than i thought it would to install. Glad i didn't try this myself. After all that headache, it sounds and looks good. But if i would have known all this, i would have went with another brand of exhaust. Or just had a shop make it for me.

Review from Pypes True Dual Catted Exhaust - Turndown Tips (98-04 V6)

          98 Mustang 3.8L 5 Speed

I put the turn down true dual on to replace the Flow-masters that rusted to pieces in the Chicago weather. They sound great. The best part is, if you keep under 2k rpm they are very smooth and quiet, over 2k they have a nice bass rumble that anyone with a 5 Speed knows. If you have a lowering kit and rubber band tires I wouldn't recommend these because the pipes are large and they seem to sit very low. I also have ford racing C springs in rear and front, it sits very low due to the rubber bands the previous owner installed. So the clearance is about 4.5 inches from pipe to floor, new tires will easily fix that problem though.

          Great throaty sound

This exhaust was a pain for my friend who owns a muffler/exhaust shop to install. But other than that the product is tremendous it has a great throaty sound without being obnoxiously loud. The exhaust stunk for a day or so until all the flux cycled through. This is a great product definitely recommended.

          Great sound

I had this installed at a local shop which informed me that it was not an easy install. It took them longer than the time they quoted me but the appearance to me seems great. It has a nice throaty aftermarket sound and does not turn to a "tin can" at high rev. These turn down pipes are nice because you don't have to modify the existing bumper. In short, I recommend these.

          Good result

I was expecting a better fit. The instructions are not near detailed enough. For instance, a good description of where the pipes needed cutting would have been helpful. The biggest problem was having to relocate the rear hangers on the tail pipes. Overall, they sound great. Just more figment work than I expected.

          No Complains

Ordered the product after learning I needed new cats. Figured for the price I would convert my 2000 V6 Pony single exhaust to dual exhaust. I had no problems with the shop installing and converting into a dual, everything in my car is stock. They did have to pull a little on the sensors for them to reach but no real issues. It is the perfect roar to my V6, I don't feel it like MYLILPNY anymore, is def a Stang now ;).

99 Mustang V6 Pypes True Dual Catted Exhaust - Turndown Tips

This exhaust was put on a stock V6 when the factory cat gave out. I swapped out with this system for stock. I like the turned down style on looks alone. Was trying to maintain same look. I had them installed. My mechanic told me he had to cut down stock headers and re-weld to fit. He thought this system would made for a shorty header. He also re-welded the hanger on exhaust tips. He felt they didn't line up to his preference. The job took him a solid 4 hours. The look of these is great to me. I don't think a V6 should have a V8 exhaust sticking out the back. Sound is nice, not very loud, but the sound is much better than stock. Around 3k RPM it lets out a nice roar then settles back in. The car is performing better including fuel mileage. Bottom line, I wanted a stock looking exhaust and found it here. Was not disappointed with end result at all, but I would take this to a shop. I don't think it would have been a driveway job for me like I was originally planning.
