Justin: What's up, everybody? I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I'm joined by Mr. RTR himself, Vaughn Gittin Jr. And together, we're going to be walking you through this RTR Tactical Performance Adjustable Rear Panhard Bar, available for all '05 to '14 Mustangs. Now, Vaughn, lay out to everybody at home what the purpose of a panhard bar does. Vaughn: Yeah, sure. Basically, the panhard locates the rear axle laterally in the car. It's what controls it from going side to side. You have your upper link and your two lowers that hold the axle to the car. Well, this controls it from going left to right. Justin: Cool. Now, what was the objective when designing the RTR Adjustable Panhard Bar? Vaughn: Yeah, we wanted to supply a panhard bar to our customers that would allow them to make sure the axle stayed centered under the car. When you lower the car, the axle actually shifts, so this allows you to bring it back to center. It's significantly strong, and we also added some pretty impressive bushing technology. First of all, the casing of our bushing is a forged piece that encapsulates our bushing, which is a dual-durometer bushing. One of the durometers is a bit softer to absorb NVH, and so it's not very harsh. And then, on the inside, we have a rigid bushing. It's about as close as you're going to get to having a rod end without the noise or the more harsh ride that it would achieve. Justin: So it's essentially best of both worlds as far as that. And it's non-greasable, right? Vaughn: No maintenance. Justin: No maintenance. Vaughn: Just put it on, and adjust it, and it's good to go. And the thing a lot of people don't know, when the engineers are building their cars from the factory, it's all about NVH. It's all about being built for the masses. A panhard actually significantly helps your handling. When you initially go to turn into a turn, all that energy goes to the rear. So the more that you have a bushing flex on the panhard, the more your axle moves before the car actually turns. So this significantly increases steering response. Justin: Very cool. Now, installation, guys, with this could not be easier. As you can see, there's really only two connection points here so a simple two-bolt install. It'll probably take you an hour if that. But the big thing here with this is, Vaughn, is just getting the alignment set up correctly. And obviously the best idea would be to take it to an alignment shop, get your thrust angle checked, make sure the rear axle is centered. Vaughn: Yep. Justin: But we actually showed you in a video that I did a little while back, a backyard mechanic. Basically make a crude little plumb bob setup, hang two washers from a string, make your measurements between each side of the wheel there, and then adjust it accordingly. Vaughn: Yeah, very easy. And this can be done on the car. It's just simple. Loosen these two nuts, turn the adjuster, and it'll move the axle left to right and get it dialed exactly where you want it. Justin: There you go. Lengthen or shorten it on the car, so it makes things super adjustable, super easy to use, and definitely a piece you'll want to look for for your lowered car. All right. So there you have it, guys. If you're looking to center your rear axle underneath your lowered Mustang, in addition to increasing your handling performance, well, then you have to check out the RTR Tactical Performance Adjustable Panhard Bar for your S197 Mustang here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Improves Handling Performance. Upgrade your S197 Mustangs suspension with a RTR Tactical Performance Adjustable Panhard Rod to eliminate the unwanted flex and twist commonly found with the poorly designed factory panhard bar. The RTR Tactical Performance Adjustable Panhard Rod keeps the rear axle located in the optimum position under the rear of the car, dramatically improving traction, cornering and overall handling performance.

On Car Adjustable. You can easily fine tune your suspension with the RTR Tactical Performance Panhard bar installed on your Mustang just by turning a wrench, no need to remove it to make adjustments.

Superior Construction. Manufactured from tubular DOM steel tubing for superior strength and rigidity, this RTR Tactical Performance Panhard Bar is completed in a durable gray powder coat finish for impressive good looks and long lasting corrosion resistance.

Forged Rod Ends. The forged rod ends included with this adjustable RTR Tactical Performance Panhard Bar are specifically engineered to house the patented MAX-C bushings which allows for maximum articulation, strength and durability of the bushing material.

Max-C Bushings. MAX-C (Multi Axial Composite) bushings are made from a dual-durometer synthetic elastomer with a unique non-bonded bushing design that allows the inner reinforcement sleeve to redistribute loads throughout the cushion and bearing allowing for freedom of articulation while still reducing deflection for improved handling predictability.

Grease Free Technology. The included Max-C bushings feature "Grease Free Technology" this is a process where a PTFE inner lining is bonded to the inner bore of the bushing during the casting process. The PTFE lining reduces friction, minimizes wear and eliminates noise. Because of this there is no need to lubricate the bushings during installation making these bushings grease and maintenance free.

Application. This RTR Tactical Performance On-car Adjustable Panhard Rod is designed to fit 2005 to 2014 Mustangs, including the V6, GT, Bullitt, BOSS and Shelby GT500 models and is the perfect companion to a RTR Adjustable Panhard Bar Support Brace.

    Great Bar for Price

This RTR Panhard bar was a great price , so put in on my list when I ordered my K Springs and Ford Racing Dynamic Shocks and struts. My installer gave it a great compliment as far as price and that it was well made. It was a tight fit but it's been a week since I've had it installed. And this car handles like a champ. I recommend this panhard bar if you are looking.

    if you're picky, read this.

I was skeptical about brand names and everyone saying this or that, I went with RTR because they are known for their quality of parts. They are a little pricier than normal BMR, SR Permformance, etc. but you definitely get what you pay for. Installation was a pain due to removing the stock. Had to use a malet to install the RTR but if you loosen the bolt on passenger side of the support bar above the panhard you'll be able to install the new bar no problem. Aside from that, the adjusting for the proper inches per side (measuring from the fender to the outer wall of the tire) try to align it even for better alignment. Performance-wise, corners are better, quick turns are sharp without a lot of lean accompanied with better feel from behind. You can feel the difference from stock, big time. I was very impressed.

    Nothing noticeable

I got the Panhard bar to correct the axle from lowering the car and it did. It is easy to adjust as well which is also nice but I was expecting more when it came to overall handling. I would recommend it just if you have lowered your mustang.

    RTR Tactical Performance Panhard Bar

I felt that my daily driver mustang was lacking in the handling department, so naturally i decided to go for aftermarket suspension components with the RTR panhard bar being one of them. Out of the box, the part looked great with no signs of damage or any kind of flaws. The only thing that was odd was that there appeared to be silver paint around the edges of the bar itself but this was easily wiped off. The install itself was rather tedious. Taking out the old panhard bar required me to sort of pry it out due to mine being in the bracket so tightly. Putting the new one in required me to hammer it in with a rubber mallet due to the tight brackets. However i'm sure this may be different for everyone. I even tried placing a jack under the bar and using the weight of the car to get in position, but the car itself started to lift! I took the jack out to check if the bar had bent and it hadn't, so you can definitely tell that this thing is heavy duty and can take a lot of abuse. Adjusting the bar to length was very easy and not difficult at all. AS SOON AS I TOOK MY FIRST TIGHT CORNER, I could feel a difference in handling. The car feels stiffer, more responsive, and inspires more confidence now and it is very satisfying. Road noise itself hasn't really increased (probably due to the bushings), but I will mention that you definitely feel more of the road itself. You WILL feel every bump but that can be said for any aftermarket panhard bar. Overall, i definitely recommend this product, but installing it may be difficult due to positioning the panhard bar and getting it in the brackets, but it is definitely a good product that leaves me wanting more RTR parts.

    Best bar around

I ended up going with the RTR panhard after lowering to get my rear end back in check. After researching, for the price it didn't seem like it could be beat. Maintenance free bushings, and easy to adjust on the car. Sure enough when it got here I realized how heavy duty this piece is. It's no joke. Takes a bit of muscle to get it in the slots the stock one comes out of, but it fits great. And I've never seen one that was as easy to adjust. I'm super happy with it. Recommend to anyone looking for a new panhard bar!

RTR Tactical Performance adjustable panhard bar.

Shipping was reasonably quick. Product was poorly packaged and box was abused. Product did not display RTR brand logo anywhere on it, nor was there any associated sticker. There were no instructions included. Product itself appears to be of very solid construction and seems to be performing very well. There is some increase in noise and harshness but less than expected actually. Great product for a daily street/strip car. Easily adjustable and fits perfectly.
