Justin: Hi everyone, Justin with AmericanMuscle.com with Paul from the Bama Performance Team here to talk to you about the benefits of using the Bama SF4 Flash Tuner loaded with the custom Bama V2 Performance and Race Tune on your '05 to '10 three valve GT. Now, Paul, obviously the main benefit or purpose of using an aftermarket Tune is to make your car faster. How is the Bama Tune going to help in that regard? Paul: When we're calibrating a vehicle, we've got completely different expectations and regulations than the factory, and the OEMs leave a lot on the table, and there's just a lot for us to do. So we're modifying the fuel maps, spark maps, a complete reconfiguration of the drive by wire systems. And for the automatic guys we do a whole new shift schedule map, torque converter changes as well. Justin: Very nice, and now we're doing the Performance and we're also doing the Race Tune. Can you explain the differences between the two? Paul: Correct. Our Performance V2 Tune is really designed for that daily driver or the weekend warrior to offer a seamless blend of driveability and maximum power whereas our Race Tune, that's pretty much maximum power, maximum torque leaving nothing on the table with really aggressive throttle response, really aggressive shift schedules; for the automatic owners, really sensitive throttle, pretty much disabling all of the torque management and some other additional modifications that we make. Justin: Very cool, very cool. And what Paul didn't mention, of course, is that with Bama's Free Tunes for Life, as your car's modifications grow, Paul and his team will write a new Tune for each and every mod so that you can get the most performance out of your setup. So Paul's going to get out of here for now. I'm going to talk a little bit more about the benefits of the actual SF4 Tuner itself, but then we're going to run the car, the '07 GT behind me, and we'll see what kind of numbers you can expect. Breaking down the Tuner itself, you can see the SF4 does feature a compact and sleek design with a rather large full color LCD screen. Now, that screen is fully customizable and offers different colors and themes available through the menu. Now, another nice thing with this large screen is that it does feature a landscape mode. You can even turn the Tuner sideways for a different view which is helpful during datalog sessions as I'll talk about in a minute. So why the larger screen? Well, as I just mentioned, the SF4 does feature on-screen gauges and data logging similar to what you would find on more expensive models, like the ITSX or even the SET Live Wire, for instance. Now, the on-screen gauges are fully customizable as is the layout and is capable of displaying up to eight different values at one time, including your car's air fuel ratio, boost, intake, air temperature, and RPM, just to name a few. And again, all of which can be data logged with a simple touch of a button. Other features with the SF4 do include built-in Wi-Fi which is a nice little touch allowing you to take care of this future firmware updates wirelessly. The SF4 still can hold up to 10 Tunes at one time like previous Tuners, and it is still capable of reading and clearing those diagnostic trouble codes, again, just with a simple touch of a button. Now, guys, if you do have any more questions about the SF4 itself or about the new Bama V2 Tunes, I strongly encourage you to head back to the product page at AmericanMuscle.com, if you're not there already, to read up on some more details. But more importantly, you can read up on what other three valve owners are saying about running a Bama Tune on their own ride. Now that you know a little bit more about the Bama SF4 handheld Flash Tuner, let's find out just how much power you can expect out of your '05 to 10 GT with the help of a custom Bama V2 Tune. First, I'm going to walk you through the process of uploading your Tune. Then I'm going to get Paul back in here, run the '07 GT one more time and just see what kind of numbers we can expect. First thing you're going to want to do is locate your car's OBD2 port. Now on the '05 to '10 cars, it's going to be on the left-hand portion of the dash underneath. So go ahead and plug the Tuner in and wait for it to power on. Now, once the Tuner actually powers on, you're going to want to navigate to the Tune you wish to select. Basically just hit the Okay button a few times to make sure the key is on. Then we're going to go ahead and upload our Bama Race Tune. We'll select that one. It loads it, and then basically from there you're just going to follow the directions listed on the screen here, and you should be good to go. Now if you guys should have any questions or problems about uploading your Tune here with your '05 to '10 GT, don't hesitate to reach out to a Bama tuning expert. So with our baseline run already in the books and the Tune uploaded, Paul's going to hop back in the '07 GT here, make another hit on the Dynojet just to see what kind of numbers you guys can expect with your ride. Our baseline run with our 2007 GT gave us 269 horsepower and 296 pound feet of torque at the rear wheels. With the Bama Tune uploaded, the corners now making 283 horsepower and 310 pound feet of torque at the rear wheels which makes for a peak gain of 14 horsepower over those baseline numbers and gains of 17 horsepower and 18 pound feet of torque throughout the curve. All the bolt-ons in the world won't do anything for you or your ride without a quality Tune to bring it all together. I have read the contents of this kit, I have watched the video, but I STILL DON'T KNOW if this kit includes the rear gear pinion bearing kit necessary for 2010 Mustang gear swaps? And this is from a person who reads, writes and interprets complex written language for a living... Also, can not find this "drop-down" menu you are talking about in the video. You warn about it being necessary all the time, yet do not state clearly if this bearing kit contains it or not. Please indicate this CLEARLY for everyone to see, it is really confusing. Apart from that (assuming the kit DOES NOT include the rear, which I seem to deduct from one of the answers for previous questions), why make a bearing kit without the most important and needed bearing? Does ANY kit you sell include this 2010 rear gear pinion bearing (maybe those big kits with bottles for 279$ or any other kits by Ford?) or the only way is to buy the bearing separately?

  • We do apologize that the listing is not clear enough. The Motive Rear End Installation and Bearing Kit does not include the Rear Gear Pinion Bearing for 2010-2014 Mustangs. The bearing is not included in the kit because the kit is designed for 1986-2014 Mustangs, and it is not necessary for the majority of the years this kit works on. Description suggests 17 RWHP and 18 ft-lb's using the tuner....description for Tuner and Airaid CAI list the same 17 RWHP and 18 ft-lb's....AM catalog show Tune and CAI as 35hp....confused. Can you comment?

Whats the difference? What is the difference between this kit and the kit for 35 dollars?

  • This kit comes complete with everything you need for a full rebuild: bearings, shims, crush sleeve, etc... The $35 kit is a basic kit that is the same as the more expensive version, but there are no bearings included. We highly recommend getting the complete kit and replacing all your bearings and shims at the same time to prevent any costly problems down the road. It's better to replace them all at once, rather than having to tear the car apart again just for a bearing gone bad.

    IMPORTANT. Do not use tunes through Bama!

    Do NOT order this product if you're looking for a professional and experienced group of tuners. Before I begin, I'd like to emphasize that this review is STRICTLY directed towards Bama Performance and not American Muscle. So I ordered this product and was very thorough with my parts list and what type of computer my car used. When I flashed the tune, I expected my car to run fairly decently. This was not the case. On the RARE occasion that my car actually started, it ran so rough that I could not even make it to the end of my driveway without thinking my motor was about to blow. I contacted them and they said that they accidentally wrote my tunes for the wrong vehicle computer and would send me more. When I received the new tunes, I flashed them and expected all problems to be fixed. Wrong. With either tune flashed, my car would not even START. Immediately stalled upon firing up every time. If I was able to get into gear fast enough, it would stall every time I shifted into neutral. Then Bama asks me to DATALOG when my car won't even START. What?! I've worked with many tuners and done data logging with many different softwares and have a great amount of experience with this. When I told them this problem, they said that I had to find a way to datalog for them to solve the issue. So I did my best to get them the best data log I could, logging all necessary stats in both forms, including PIDs. They said I did not log what they needed and I'd need to log again. I called and asked for a refund and told them I would send back the tuner because my car ran better on a factory ECU than with any of the 4-6 tunes that they had sent me. The answer I got? "Sorry we cannot take back the tuner since we put time and labor into producing those tunes for you." MY CAR WONT EVEN RUN WITH ANY OF YOUR TUNES. I decided I was going to pay an additional $600 for a local dyno tune so they would not blow my car up. Do not run tunes from Bama Performance if you care about the longevity and well being of your vehicle.

    Love it

    At first I wasnt really not going to buy but then I got my air intake from AM and felt a little bit of a pull out of my air intake that didn't need a tuner. Course who doesn't want more power. So I went ahead and purchase the bama and I must say it was the best decision I made for myself and I love it. I love the whole tunes for life and I already requested 4 tunes and I love my 93 octane performance tune. The tuner was really easy to set up on the computer and use on the car. I plan on adding more mods to my mustang so I know I'm the long run my tuner will be used and I will always have tunes for life. Thanks bama performance and AM.

    Great tune

    My automatic 2010 GT convertible is stock except for the pype bomb axle back exhaust. I purchased this tuner because I plan to add an off road h-pipe and hot rod cams in the future and would need it anyways. If you have an automatic, this will completely change your driving experience. I had 1/4 tank of 87 in the car, so I started with the 87 tune. This tune alone is a major upgrade over the stock tune from Ford. It eliminated throttle lag and the shifts feel quick. I can feel and hear the difference while driving. After filling up with premium, I tuned again using the 93 race file. I could tell a difference again upon startup and a quick Rev in park. Shifts are aggressive and fun when you want it to be. The exhaust note is more aggressive. I am very satisfied with my tuner and the tunes for life program. Tip: Windows 10 users should download the updated drivers and program from the Bama website in advance. It helps you get familiar with the process while you are waiting on the tuner to arrive.

    Junk. Wont connect to anything.

    Bought this a little over a month ago and have been waiting until I installed parts listed on the tune. I bought a couple extra and decided to use the custom tune for life feature. The email came through fine. I cant update the drivers no matter what I try though. My computer wont even recognize the device, let alone update the driver. I have gone through the instructions for updating for win 10 over and over again and nothing works. Crazy idea: Make it so it works on Win 10 so customers dont have to jump through all of these hoops. Win 10 has been out for a while now and none of my other tuners for my other vehicles have this issue on this computer. Only this tuner. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this product.

    Excellent upgrade!

    I received my power flash tuner and loaded the performance tune with no complications in a matter of minutes! I recommend this to everyone as a first performance upgrade on your Mustang. Throttle response is greatly enhanced and the power band has increased noticeably. Slight RPM fluctuation during cold start up but levels out in 40 seconds. I have not tried the race tune yet, as my GT is mainly street driven. Thanks AM and BAMA for a great upgrade!

    Must-have tool

    Never thought that such a small device in combination with a CAI would make you feel like you got a COMPLETELY different engine. Everything is better. Sound. Throttle response. Acceleration. Shifting (automatic). Before the tune, I was able to "safely" press the pedal to the floor. Now I have the freedom to choose between relaxed cruising or crash the car into the next tree. I did not use the race tune though, since the shift timings were way to hard for me (automatic). But the performance tune was great!

    Very satisfied.

    I got this tuner along with the JLT cold air intake. It made a very noticeable difference in the mid and high range. I am currently using the 91 octane race tune and the throttle response is so much better. this is about as good as it gets when it comes to email tunes. Highly recommend Bama. Great customer service! The only people I have heard talk bad about Bama tunes are the ones that have never used Bama before. It's also nice to have a code reader as well.

    Saved the day!

    I had a customers mustang that was modded and another shop had flashed out the pcm back to stock. The customer was very upset because the car run very bad and the speedo was 20 mph off.     The Bama Tune was just what my 2006 GT needed, when I first uploaded the tunes the car did not run right but a quick call to Jose Garcia at Bama and it was fixed, I had forgotten to pull the reducer out of my Cold Intake that's all it was, once I did WOW I was all over the road . I notice a great difference in power at take off and mid range, I do see a slight loss in mpg but if your looking for gas mileage but a prius. American Muscle once again was outstanding!!!

    Bama tune worked great on my mustang, the car shifts perfect and no lag. I've taken my past mustang to performance shops, with the bama tune I won't need too. Save me the time and money, I got a N/A tune and a nitrous Tune. Had no issues

    These guys know what they're doing

    I have big cams and several other add ons, had my car dyno tuned and it just seemed to run funny. My tuner couldn't figure it out after several tries, so I decided to get the X4. Best decision I ever made. The tuners at Bama performance really know what they are doing.

    It definitely works

    I've read everywhere that this "wakes up the car" and didn't really know what to expect. Well, that's honestly the best description you can give. The throttle response is amazing now, it's ready to go when you hit the pedal. That sluggy feeling from a stop or a slow roll is gone, it's ready to move. It won't turn your stang into a Ferrari but it definitely gives those ponies some pep. Also opens the door for some bigger mods in the future, especially rear gears.

    Street Tune - 2008 GT, Auto Trans

    Recently bought a Bama X4 Programmer with a street tune. It wasn't cheap but I would have needed to drive 80 miles to Atlanta to get a one-time custom tune-up. This will be more convenient and I can update it on-line in the future when I get more mods. I don't have a lot of mods yet but I swapped the manual trans to an automatic, got rid of the cats, installed a CAI, installed Pypes shorty headers and Pypes axle-back mufflers. Since this is a daily driver, I asked for the street tune. It was easy to install the new tune. This programmer will not let you make adjustments while connected to the car. If you want to change something, you have to return the car to its original tune, make your adjustments while connected to your computer, and then reinstall the new tune again. I can definitely feel an increase in power and torque when I floor it. I'm having issues with the idle and sound at startup but I don't think that is a problem with the tune. There doesn't seem to be any decrease in mpg. Idle is loud around 1100 at start-up but drops to about 750 in 40 seconds. The questions that I sent in afterwards were all answered very quickly and professionally. Communication was great. I would recommend them and the programmer, especially if you are in a location that doesn't have a good tune-up shop available.

    Review from Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 2 Custom Tunes (05-10 GT, Bullitt)

    Extra Performance? YES!

    My recently purchased 2006 Mustang GT in Screaming Yellow ran good, but just seemed to run out of breath after 4000 RPM's. I had an AirRaid cold air intake installed with the restrictor baffle installed from the previous owner. The car ran fine on regular gas, but just seemed anemic. After researching others experience with the Bama tuner upgrade, I was still a little skeptical, as other upgrades I had tried on different cars over the years seemed to have very little effect. You know, "WOW, YOU NEED THIS!" type reviews always left me disappointed after I GOT "THIS". LOL. I will have to say that was not the case with the Bama tuner. I installed the upgrade feature for the tuner on my computer before the tuner ever arrived. It took about 10 days for the tuner to get to my house after I placed my order and specified the particulars on my Mustang (CAI, plus SLP Loudmouths). Upon arrival, unboxing showed everything was there that was supposed to be. I removed the restrictor baffle from the AirRaid intake, followed the YouTube example for updating the tuner, and installed the custom race tune with no problems or issues. The performance gain, throttle response took place immediately. After driving the car a couple of hundred miles, there have been NO ISSUES with the tune, and the car runs like a race car, pulling strongly all the way up to redline. The performance gain is truly impressive, and I am not disappointed nor sorry I bought the tuner. A little expensive for only being a single use (or single car) tuner, but probably the most performance improvement you can get outside of a supercharger, or turbo addition. Ed Sullivan when he had a special guest on his program used to say "We have a really big Shoe (Show)for you tonight!" -Well, the Bama tuner was "A really big difference". :-) Thanks American Muscle!
