    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and this is our acceleration pack bolt on build up for all 99-04 Mustang GTs. The focus of this pack is of course acceleration, but in order to accelerate faster you need traction, and lots of it. That’s why the majority of the parts used for our build today are focused on getting us off the line much quicker, ultimately resulting in faster acceleration. But before we go over all the parts we have in store for our 2000 GT here, let’s get it out of the shop and do a quick 0-60 baseline run, just to see where we stand now. Alright, before we go installing all of our parts for the acceleration pack, we’re going to do a baseline 0-60 run, using our iTSX wireless tuner and my iPad here, just to see where the car stands now, so hit start and here we go. Alright so it looks like we just clicked off a 6.66 0-60 time with our automatic 2000 GT, which is pretty average for this model car. Now we’re going to take our car back into the shop, talk a little bit more about some of the parts we have in store, and get them installed. Since traction is the theme of the day, what better way to get more of it, than by using a set of these NITTO NT555R Drag Radials, those large tread blocks paired with that real soft compound is going to give us a ton of grip both on the street and at the strip, and should really help our GT get off the line. To further help our GT hook we decided to go with some vital suspension components from QA1, starting with these box style rear lower control arms, these bars are a variation of the classic traction bar design, and basically help keep the rear axle from moving around under load, and especially on hard launches, eliminating any excessive wheel hop. We also decided to go with a set of these QA1 adjustable rear upper control arms, that are fully adjustable while still on the car. These are going to be key to adjusting our pinion angle which is not only important for traction, but also for driveline smoothness. These are really going to help firm up the rear end of the car, and eliminate any side to side sloppiness or wiggle, making the car track a lot straighter, and just making for an overall better driving experience. Moving away from our traction and getting into another big contributing factor to our acceleration, that’s right our gearing. From the factory, our automatic 2000 GT came with 3.27 gears, which is pretty weak for acceleration. That’s where these Ford Racing 4.10 gears come into play, simply put, that shorter gear ratio is going to help our car accelerate faster. Quite frankly, I’m quite anxious to see how it’s going to wake up our 2 valve motor. So now that you know what we have in store for our GT, we’re going to hand the car over to the crew and get everything installed, after they’re all done we’re going to take our GT back out on the street, just to see how it behaves on the road, and to see if we’ve improved on our 0-60 time. Alright so we’re out here on the street with our 2000 GT, we just had the acceleration pack installed by the guys back at the shop, and we’re just cruising, I mean the car is very mild mannered, we’re in overdrive, you’d never be able to tell there’s gears in the car, until you do a little squeeze on the throttle, and man does it go. It goes, it goes, and it hooks hard too. I mean we didn’t even have a chance to heat cycle the tires there and it just dead hooked on the street. Car is a little stiffer in the rear, that’s attributed to the stiffer bushings in both the QA1 lower and upper control arms, but that’s going to be a good thing, that’s going to help keep the car straight, going down the track, it’s also going to reduce our wheel hop as well, and overall just improve our acceleration. So now we’ve had the chance to drive the car around on the street a little bit, see how it reacts in everyday situations, we’re going to put it to the ultimate test, get it back to the shop, do a hard launch, and see if these parts work in lowering our 0-60 time. Alright, so we just finished up our second 0-60 run, and we just clicked off a 5.09 second 0-60, that’s over half a second off our baseline number, so it’s easy to see our acceleration pack is doing its job, and I’ve got to admit, those radials definitely helped us hook on the pavement. So that does it for the acceleration pack, be sure to check out our other 99-04 bolt on build ups where we make our GT handle a bit better, we give it some more power, and dress it up a little bit.

    Bama Performance The Gears
    The Gears

Improve ET's and Low End Torque. Installing a set of steeper rear gears is a great way to get more low end grunt off the line and lower your ET's at the same time. Ford Racing Mustang ring and pinion gears feature a super strong forged construction, CNC cut & lapped gear teeth, and a black oxide finish to resist corrosion making them perfect for street, road, or race use. Technical Note. Installation costs will vary, but a good rule of thumb is between $250 and $300. Be sure to work with a reliable shop that you trust for installations. You can also save money on your installation labor by having your Trac-Lok rebuilt at the same time as your gears are installed, see drop down option above.

**NOTE: Programming custom tunes may take 2-3 business days plus applicable shipping time. We recommend ordering other products separately to avoid delay. Heavily modified cars are not tunable with a mail order tune. Click for restrictions. Membership in the Tunes for Life program is is valid for as long as you own the car that was originally tuned and is non-transferrable.

Increased HP and torque. From the factory, the manufacturer programs their vehicles to cater to the needs of the daily driver, not the performance enthusiast. After loading the custom Bama Tune on a vehicle, even a bone stock, unmodified Mustang will realize noticeable gains in HP, Torque, and Fuel Economy.

Increase your mod's potential. Factory computer settings are calibrated for the original factory components. When making performance modifications, you need to recalibrate the vehicle's computer to realize the full potential that these modifications can achieve.

Free tunes for life! Every customer that purchases a tuner is enrolled in the "Free tunes for life" program. Any time that you make additional mods to your vehicle, our team of SCT certified Bama Custom Tuners will create new tunes for you.

Custom Bama Tunes specific to your vehicle. When you order a tuner, you aren't just getting a tuner - you are getting the tuner and 3 dyno-tested custom Bama tunes:

    • Street (87-93 octane) - the street tune is designed as a daily driver program that focuses in on increasing mid-range power. It does give up a few HP at higher RPMs, but that's why there is a Performance file. Automatic vehicles are further enhanced by making adjustments to the transmission's shift points and firmness.
    • Performance (87-93 octane) - The Performance program is designed to add power at 3000 RPMs and higher, focusing more on the top end horsepower and all out performance driving. Timing, fuel and throttle response settings are slightly more aggressive than the street tune. This is a great track tune but also works well for daily drivers that are looking for a little more "get up and go" than the street tune. The automatic transmission settings are the same as in the street tune.
    • Race (91 - 93 octane) - The race tune will ensure the largest increase in vehicle performance. Using the highest grade of fuel available in your area is mandatory. This file is designed for "Race only Use" as the timing, fuel, and throttle response settings are very aggressive. in fact, the adjustments are so aggressive, that we do not recommend it for daily driving as it may cause your vehicle to try to jump out from a stop and easily spin the tires. Finally, with the automatics, we implement entirely new shift points and firmness settings to further enhance the all-out performance of the vehicle.

Nitrous (91-unleaded race gas) - Our nitrous option can be added to any of our previously mentioned tune options, but only for 91-octane unleaded fuel.

Easy to load; easy to restore. Not only are the custom tunes easy to load on your vehicle, it is just as easy to restore your factory settings. When you load your custom tune on the vehicle, the tuner automatically stores your vehicle's factory settings. To return the vehicle to its factory settings, just plug the tuner back in, select the option to restore the factory settings, and you're done.

    Ask a Question

I have read the contents of this kit, I have watched the video, but I STILL DON'T KNOW if this kit includes the rear gear pinion bearing kit necessary for 2010 Mustang gear swaps? And this is from a person who reads, writes and interprets complex written language for a living... Also, can not find this "drop-down" menu you are talking about in the video. You warn about it being necessary all the time, yet do not state clearly if this bearing kit contains it or not. Please indicate this CLEARLY for everyone to see, it is really confusing. Apart from that (assuming the kit DOES NOT include the rear, which I seem to deduct from one of the answers for previous questions), why make a bearing kit without the most important and needed bearing? Does ANY kit you sell include this 2010 rear gear pinion bearing (maybe those big kits with bottles for 279$ or any other kits by Ford?) or the only way is to buy the bearing separately?

    MattK

    • We do apologize that the listing is not clear enough. The Motive Rear End Installation and Bearing Kit does not include the Rear Gear Pinion Bearing for 2010-2014 Mustangs. The bearing is not included in the kit because the kit is designed for 1986-2014 Mustangs, and it is not necessary for the majority of the years this kit works on. It is included in the Gear Combo Kits for the 2010-2014 GT and 2011-2014 V6 Mustangs found here: https://www.americanmuscle.com/2010-mustang-gears.html#shop-by7

Review from Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 2 Custom Tunes (99-04 GT, Bullitt)

      Bama SCT-X4 tuner

I bought one of these for my '02 GT, as well as my '12 GT. If you have bolt-ons, no matter how many, they will squeeze every ounce of power out of them they can. These tuners made both of my cars feel and drive completely different. However, I will be honest. I'm not sure if they have changed it, but there was a 2-step function in the parameter settings. Do NOT use it, as it will cut fuel to limit engine speed for launch control and lean you out. If you want that function, buy a standalone like an MSD 2Step or a WOT box. Other than that, these tuners are fantastic, and you can't beat the free tunes for life membership. Despite what you (and I) have heard online and in forums, these are NOT canned tunes. They have a datalog function for a reason. Look at it this way- you can pay $200 for a single Lund, Steeda, etc tune, get no warranty, revisions, etc, or you can pay $150 for a lifetime membership, warranty, unlimited tunes/revisions, the best customer service of anyone out there and more. The choice to me was obvious! American Muscle is the top dog for a reason, and I will continue to shop with them in the future.

Review from Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 2 Custom Tunes (99-04 GT, Bullitt)

Nice unit but needs more user info included

I ordered the unit with the 2 Bama custom tunes. Unit looks nice and display is nice. Tunes loaded easy but came with absolutely 0 instructions whatsoever! I called am and they said they don't send instructions and that they are online and have to be downloaded and printed. What if you don't have a computer or access to one?? I have the Bama tunes which I'm in the process of working through tune datalogging to make adjustments with Bama. Other thing you should know is when you choose the Bama tunes you can't adjust any parameters on your own like idle etc. Bama has to rewrite a new tune for you with included changes you request. Bama has been helpful but the fact that I'm not that computer savvy I have to enlist my son to help with the datalogging and loading to the computer. Other problem is that They don't give you basic info on your tune like a/f ratio, revlimiter settings etc. Overall I think once I get my tune right and completely learn how to use it it will be a good tuner. I also have a diablosport intune for another vehicle and the sct is nicer but the intune comes with very thurough instructions for first time users. I performed a cam swap on my Bullitt which will be a bit difficult to get the tune right on the first shot which is understandable. Mine has random misfires at idle up to 1500 rpm and seems to be running Rich. Bama has been very helpful on the phone and says they will make adjustments as needed which is cool. The free tunes for life deal is Great!

Nice product, all things considered, a bit pricey. Very easy installation. But I must say, not that much of difference from stock setting. One thing I really dislike is that transmission bangs into and out of overdrive. Not a good thing.

Review from Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 2 Custom Tunes (99-04 GT, Bullitt)

      Excellent Purchase

Great purchase for extra hp and throttle response. Only had one installation download error which turned out to be a weak car battery. Replaced it and the installation was a breeze. I have already recommended this tuner to other friends looking to add extra horses to their project cars.
