how will these sound i have a stock 02 mustang and was thinking about buying this dual conversion kit but wondering if it would sound deep and aggressive or more like a ricer.

  • It definitely does not sound like a ricer. It has that deep, aggressive sound that a V8 has. Exactly what you'd want to hear from a dual exhaust. I have an almost stock (cold air intake) 03 mustang with this exhaust system, and I usually get asked if my stang is a V8.

I have a 2002 V6 mustang hardtop, I'm wondering how this exhaust sounds inside of the car, mainly does it drone at all? My exhaust is stock other than BBK shorty headers

  • Hello! The Flowmaster Force II Dual Cat-Back Exhaust should not give you much of a drone. With the BBK shorty headers, and this exhaust combo, you will be able to hear the exhaust much better.

  • You will not need to buy catalytic converters when installing the Flowmaster Force II Dual Cat-Back Exhaust. This Exhaust Kit simply bolts to the existing stock Y-Pipe which your catalytic converters are connected to.

Will this pass the California smog test if this is the only mod I install?

  • The Flowmaster Force II Dual Cat-Back Exhaust (99-04 V6), should not effect a smog test. Generally, any mufflers or cat-back exhaust modification will not effect smog tests. Only mid-pipe or bolt on engine modifications will needs a CARB EO# approval for use in California. However, do be sure to check your local inspection, emission and noise regulations prior to ordering.

    Nice Tone

    The Flowmaster Catback took me and my uncle about 3 hours to put on in total. Didn't run into a whole lot of problems, the only thing we had to change was to drill the wholes by the y-pipe larger to make it fit easier. A little help with getting the tail pipes through is to raise your frame not your axle to give you more room to wiggle the tail pipes through. Huge change, noticed a nicer louder noise right as I pulled out of the garage. Great tone around 3 RPM's. Great buy!

    Best Exhaust For A V6 Mustang

    I have a 1999 V6 mustang and I was searching for months for the best sounding exhaust for my car. I didn't want that ricer sound when it gets to high rpm's. Then I found this exhaust system. This exhaust sounds great! I would compare it to a stock gt, but a little louder. My car is a gt clone and people actually think it has an 8! I also added bbk headers and it sounds even better! I only gave this product 4 stars just because it was a little pain to put in, and the end pipes arent 100% equal length. But for the price and how they sound there awesome! I'll recommend them to anyone! I think they sound so good beacuse of how it hooks to the y-pipe. It kinda acts like a x-pipe in a way.

    Great aftermarket exhaust for the V6

    My mustang was hit and ran by a GMC Yukon (yeah, ouch); it backed into the rear of my car after trying to make a U- turn on my street. (He pushed it about 50 ft., then ran into brick pillars, destroying a neighbors porch and somehow managed to get away, but was caught the next morning). Needless to say, I needed an entire new rear bumper, trunk, spoiler, taillights, and an exhaust. This prompted me to go for a dual exhaust system. I chose Flowmaster for the reputation, and because my older brother has an '06 GT with Pypes, which I thought were too loud for my taste, and my dad has an '08 GT with Flowmasters which sounded very nice. The body shop went for the GT bumper replacement for my car (without the lettering stamped into it), understanding I wanted them to put in a new dual exhaust. Anyway, the exhaust, they said, fit great and went in easy. (They also said a GT exhaust would bolt right up as well?? Check on that, something to consider). It sounds at least 10x better than the original exhaust. It's no V8 exhaust sound, and I wouldn't want it to be. The only problem was that the exhaust was made for a V6 and hangs lower than where it should if one has a GT bumper on their V6. This was expected, but I also expected the shop to be able to adjust/weld it accordingly. They did not and refused to modify it, so I will take it to a Midas or similar shop soon to get it where I want it. It looks pretty silly hanging lower than the cut outs. Overall, I am very pleased with this exhaust.

    Looks Like A V8

    This exhaust gives my stang the original look of a V8 stang. It fits very well and it almost has the sound of a V8. Not as loud, just because its a 6 cylinder. But still so much more aggressive than the stock exhaust. I have had no problems, and only received compliments from this exhaust. It's a must have for any V6.

    This product is a great choice for looks and sound.

    The Flowmaster catback II Duel Exhaust system was a great choice for my 2004 Mustang. I have a 3.9hp engine and it made it rumble llike the V8 AWSOME! The Flowmaster exhaust fit on my car very clean and snug.All the parts were very easy to install hangers were perfect and I am very Proud of the way it turned out. Thank You !

    Sounds good

    Putting the exhaust on is a 2 or more person job. In order to get the pipe over your axle you have to raise your car up and wiggle it threw. Takes one guy to hold the exhaust up because they weigh alot and one to try and get the pipes together, which dont go together easy. I recommend grinding it a little. I'm glad I was able to use a pit at a local Quaker State. The sound of the car changed instantly.

    Great Exhaust

    This exhaust is one of the best exhausts you can buy for a new edge V6! The install took me and 2 other people around 3 hours with a lift. We only had a little bit of trouble getting it to fit around the axle on the passenger side, but with a bit of maneuvering we got it in place perfectly. Now in my personal opinion, this exhaust will only make your V6 sound like a V8 at low RPMs. (around 1-2.5) otherwise it sounds like a 350Z or a 370Z. (especially around 2.5-3.5) Even thought it doesn't sound like a V8, it still sounds very very good! Also it is not as loud as I expected but that is ok because this is my daily driver and I personally don't want a very loud exhaust and I can always take out my cats if I want it louder. Also it does not "drone" at all. Overall this is a very good exhaust and i highly recommend it to anyone new edge V6 owner looking for a new exhaust.

    Nice clean tone

    Let me start by saying I love the note this exhaust puts out its exteremly clean and really enhances the motors sound rather then sound like all pipes like a lot of mustangs these days. Fitment wasn't too bad other then having to mess around with the lift to get the axle to raise so we could get the x pipe bolted to the stock pipe. Other then that just 2 21 year olds and less then 2 hours to install. Overall great product I always wanted this exhaust system. Only downside is between 25-33 rpm the tone sorta cuts out. So keep on rippin it and it sounds great 100 of the time!!

    Great sound, not so great fit.

    Overall i would recommend this exhaust. going from a stock to this is quite the improvement. I noticed an increase in horse power simply because it didnt get choked up in the higher rpms the way the stock exhaust did. the exhaust as loud as a gt with a very nice deep pur and a rumble while idling. Do not let under estimate the difficulty of putting an exhaust like this together. I recommend a lift but if you don't own one jack up both the back axles. although it was difficult ALMOST everything fit fine. the screw holes on the new exhaust did not match up with the screws coming from the old exhaust pipe. I had to drill new holes to make it fit.

    Flowmaster Dual Exhaust Conversion on my 2000 V6

    Very happy with my exhaust. My car is a totally stock (minus exterior mods) 2000 V6, so someone with a CAI or other parts might have a different experience. Best way to describe is by pros and cons. Pros : Nice tips with the flowmaster lettering. Sounds way better than stock. Once my stock exhaust was off this kit bolted right up, no bending or fabricating required (slight unevenness, see cons) Free shipping for a pretty heavy package. Cons : When i first start my car it idles at 1500 RPM for about 30 sec - 1 min, then drops down to normal, it has always done this, even before the exhaust, but this exhaust makes a slightly annoying droning sound at 1500 RPM. Not a big deal, just is uncomfortable to my ears. One of the mufflers (the right one I believe) hangs an inch or so back from the other muffler and it makes the final product look a little silly. The right exhaust tip is hidden by my bumper whereas the left one sticks out slightly. You can hardly tell until you are right up on the car. I'm sure this wouldn't be hard to fix with some hammering or bending, but out of the box it is a bit off. I will try to post pics of it ASAP so everyone can see what I mean. Side note - Do not let any mechanic tell you this kit doesn't fit your car. I had 2 separate shops tell me that this wasn't made for my car because they didn't understand how the brackets/hangers worked. I had to show them the included instructions and diagram for them to understand how it works. Don't be shy! I was embarrassed to tell the mechanic he needed to follow the instructions, but once I did he understood and had it on in less than 45 mins.

    Product was decent

    Flowmasters sound great. Fitment was a little tricky. Had to heat and bend right pipe a little to keep in off of the the axel support. Nothing major, just to avoid damage going down the road. Pipes sound great, really kicks in around 3000 rpms.

    Flowmaster force 2

    This exhaust kit is well worth the money. Its doesn't get a true v8 noise but it does however give it a good tone. The pipes weren't perfect size. i recommend to take it to a shop. Install was $100 and fast within 30 minutes. If looking for a similar v8 noise, you will need some headers and either h or x pipe.

    Great sounding exhaust

    The exhaust looks and sounds great and would recommend it for anyone wants to make their V6 to sound like a V8, I would also recommend that you have a shop install the exhaust unless you have a way to bend the pipes so they fit correctly up under the car and look the same at the back of the car.
