how will these sound i have a stock 02 mustang and was thinking about buying this dual conversion kit but wondering if it would sound deep and aggressive or more like a ricer.

  • It definitely does not sound like a ricer. It has that deep, aggressive sound that a V8 has. Exactly what you'd want to hear from a dual exhaust. I have an almost stock (cold air intake) 03 mustang with this exhaust system, and I usually get asked if my stang is a V8.

I have a 2002 V6 mustang hardtop, I'm wondering how this exhaust sounds inside of the car, mainly does it drone at all? My exhaust is stock other than BBK shorty headers

  • Hello! The Flowmaster Force II Dual Cat-Back Exhaust should not give you much of a drone. With the BBK shorty headers, and this exhaust combo, you will be able to hear the exhaust much better.

Will this pass the California smog test if this is the only mod I install?

  • The Flowmaster Force II Dual Cat-Back Exhaust (99-04 V6), should not effect a smog test. Generally, any mufflers or cat-back exhaust modification will not effect smog tests. Only mid-pipe or bolt on engine modifications will needs a CARB EO# approval for use in California. However, do be sure to check your local inspection, emission and noise regulations prior to ordering.

Is there any mods or ways I can make this exhaust system louder? It has an amazing deep noise but its not as loud as I expected is there anyway i can make it louder?

  • The only way to increase the volume of the Flowmaster Force II Dual Cat-Back Exhaust would be to install aftermarket shorty headers, and delete the catalytic converters.

Are the mufflers interchangeable, so I could use the Flowmaster 44, or would I have to build a custom dual exhaust?

  • Unfortunately, the mufflers are not interchangeable and the exhaust would be custom to switch out these Flowmaster mufflers with the flowmaster44s.

    Just the right sound

I put these pipes on my '04 V6. The sound is great. Not too much which wouldn't sound real. But enough to make people take a second look. Can't really tell about increased performance. I've only had them 3 days.

    Nice tone

First off let me preface my review with something everyone needs to come to terms with.....this exhaust will not and does not make your V6 sound like a V8....don't be naive and think it will. I've owned both V8 Mustangs and V6, and a sixer can never produce the sound you get from those extra horses trotting under the hood of a V8. You want V8 sound, buy a V8....simple as that. Now, with that said...I am currently moding out a sixer I inherited, and I will say that this exhaust does open up the car and let it breathe while rewarding you with a bit more throttle response, but nothing to brag about. I also have it paired with a CAI, which obviously opens everything up that much more. This exhaust paired with a CAI will absolutely wake your car back up and breathe life back in her. Obviously doing the extra work and spending the extra few bucks to install a TRUE dual exhaust system will sound better and perform better, but this is a very simple install and is a great bang for your buck. Install is a breeze. I did it in my garage, by myself, using a jack and stands, in less than a couple hours, including removing the old exhaust. Looks really good exiting the rear, even if you keep the stock rear cover on.

    Perfect sound for your pony

My mustang was based stock, single exhaust. She sounded OK when you got on the gas, but didn't have that tone I wanted. But now, even with stock headers and cats she sounds perfect even on slow take off. Not overly loud, but definitely sounds more like a mustang should.

    Great Exhaust

This exhaust is one of the best exhausts you can buy for a new edge V6! The install took me and 2 other people around 3 hours with a lift. We only had a little bit of trouble getting it to fit around the axle on the passenger side, but with a bit of maneuvering we got it in place perfectly. Now in my personal opinion, this exhaust will only make your V6 sound like a V8 at low RPMs. (around 1-2.5) otherwise it sounds like a 350Z or a 370Z. (especially around 2.5-3.5) Even thought it doesn't sound like a V8, it still sounds very very good! Also it is not as loud as I expected but that is ok because this is my daily driver and I personally don't want a very loud exhaust and I can always take out my cats if I want it louder. Also it does not "drone" at all. Overall this is a very good exhaust and i highly recommend it to anyone new edge V6 owner looking for a new exhaust.

    Nice clean tone

Let me start by saying I love the note this exhaust puts out its exteremly clean and really enhances the motors sound rather then sound like all pipes like a lot of mustangs these days. Fitment wasn't too bad other then having to mess around with the lift to get the axle to raise so we could get the x pipe bolted to the stock pipe. Other then that just 2 21 year olds and less then 2 hours to install. Overall great product I always wanted this exhaust system. Only downside is between 25-33 rpm the tone sorta cuts out. So keep on rippin it and it sounds great 100 of the time!!

Very pleased with the Flowmaster Force ll cat back. The quality of the components was top rate. The tailpipes were bent exactly as needed for proper routeing all the way back. All the hardware was top rate also. I installed it on a lift where I worked before retirement. I would strongly recommend a lift for installation. an take your time for a perfect installation. they sound an look great. took me 2 hours.

Flowmaster Force II Dual Catback Exhaust

Good exhaust. A major upgrade from the stock exhaust. It's got that classic Flowmaster sound that we all love and overall I'm satisfied with them. They really kick in at around 3000 RPM. Always brings me a smile to my face. I got them installed at a shop and it took about 2 hours.
