    Review & Install Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m going to be breaking down the Flowmaster stainless steel Outlaw series catback exhaust, fitting all 2011 and 2012 Mustang GTs. This system gets its name from the two race orientated outlaw series straight through mufflers, which are going to be a lot more aggressive than the majority of Flowmaster’s other street offerings, such as the super 44 or delta flow for example. In fact, Flowmaster claims the outlaw series is the most aggressive system available for your coyote Mustang. This exhaust also features 3” mandrel bent tubing throughout and a full 409 grade stainless steel construction. It is worth mentioning that Flowmaster includes what they refer to as their scavenger style crossover pipe, which does take the place of a traditional X or H pipe. Flowmaster claims that this design actually makes a little more torque than those other traditional mid pipes, and it’s something they use in all of their catback designs. Finally everything exits out those 4” polished tips, embossed with that sick Flowmaster logo. Since this is a Cat-Back, you can expect a slightly more involved install that should take you roughly 2 hours from start to finish using basic hand tools. Now let’s hear how the Flowmaster Outlaw series catback sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

Super Aggressive Flowmaster Sound. Give your coyote powered Mustang that unmistakable Flowmaster sound with the Outlaw Series Cat-Back exhaust system from AmericanMuscle. This system improves exhaust flow using Flowmaster's race-oriented style Outlaw mufflers for that super, aggressive exhaust note your high powered Pony deserves.

Race Car Growl. The included Scavenger X-Pipe not only helps increase power, but it also adds a loud raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Reuses Stock Cats. The X-Pipe bolts up directly behind the factory catalytic converters with no cutting required saving you time and money. By reusing your stock catalytic converters, you ensure that your Mustang is smog-legal.

Stainless Steel Construction. Constructed from durable 3" diameter 16 gauge 409 stainless steel tubing for it's corrosion resistant properties, the Flowmaster Outlaw Cat-Back features two race-oriented mufflers with massive 4.0" diameter polished stainless steel tips for impressive muscle car looks and sound. As an added bonus, the tips are embossed with the "Flowmaster" logo for true custom styling.

Application. This Flowmaster Outlaw Series Stainless Steel Cat-Back Exhaust System is designed to fit the 2011 to 2012 GT Mustangs equipped with either aftermarket shorty headers or the factory manifolds.

How would this exhaust compare to the Roush axle-back, I currently have installed on my 2012 tone/loudness wise?

    Hessian5k

    • Hi,This Flowmaster Outlaw Cat-Back Exhaust is louder than the Roush Axle back i suggest taking a look at the video we have on this items page to listen to it.

Just wondering if the x pipe on this kit is the same length as the stock H pipe? I would like to put long tubes and catted x pipe on down the road and want to know if and after market catted H pipe and long tubes will hook into the axle over pipes or if they will be to short? Thanks

    Dan

    • Yes, the x-pipe that is included in this exhaust kit would be the same length as the stock h-pipe. You would definitely be able to switch out the x-pipe for a shorter mid pipe once you upgrade to long tube headers.

Will I be able to swap out the x pipe for an H pipe, such as item number 69200. Will any cutting or welding be required or would it bolt up as it would with a stock exhaust?

    WilsonJ

    • The Flowmaster Outlaw Cat-Back Exhaust will work with part number 69200 no problem since they are both 3" exhaust.

Hi, just from my expierence, there are not a lot of real loud sounding exhaust for the 2010 v6. This exhuast gives off a real mean, loud sound and is there any way, even if it means to spend a couple more bucks, to put this exhuast on a 2010?

    AllisonB

    • Unfortunately there is no way to fit the Flowmaster Outlaw Cat-Back Exhaust on your 2010 V6

I have this system and it sounds great but the drone at 70 mph is terrible whay would solve this?

    BradenA

    • The only way to solve a drone issue would be to change a component on the exhaust, such as the addition of a resonator or the use of a different muffler.

      A fantastic Purchase

So I took my mustang out to a buddies shop to have this installed , two of the guys there put the exhaust up for me it took them about an hour and 45 minutes maybe 2 hours start to finish. I think if you want a loud exhaust that has a great burble at idle , a great acceleration sound and a very sexy decell burble then this is the one for you. I could not be happier about this. Then again If you dont want loud then dont go with this one.

      LOUD

I wanted the loudest exhaust I could find with an aggressive note and I found what I believe to be the best choice for a mustang driver who wants his car to sound like Godzilla and King Kong had a baby and hopped him up on roids. Great buy, 25/10

      Legit!!!

I had ProDyno in SC install the outlaw kit and it only took about an hour. No issues with install due to fitment and that these guys are legit pro's. You won't regret buying this kit! I had the outlaw mufflers on my 08 GT/CS and it sounded awesome so I had to get the x-pipe and muffler kit for my 2011 GT. It's a real quality kind of loud past 2000 rpm's. It's a semi-mild growl at idle unless it's a cold start lol. There is a noticeable difference in power but nothing spectacular(without a tune). I've done all kinds of research and THIS IS THE KIT TO GET!!

Love the new sound. Cold starts sound amazing, cabin drone around 2000rpm but while cruising it's a low growl. Very happy.

Best purchase I have made so far!

I had researched multiple catback systems. I was looking for an aggressive system that wasn't full of drone or popping and cracking. I could not have made a Better decision going with the outlaw. I had a local shop install took about 2 hrs and was done for 80$ plus tax. Thank you American Muscle as their customer service is second to none. and their products come in perfect condition within a couple of days in the east coast.

      Unbelievable sound!

This by far has got to be THE best exhaust I've ever heard! Will definitely turn plenty of heads. I had mine installed at a shop and even they were impressed with the sound. There is a very very minor drone at about 2100-2200 rpm but I personally love it! Worth every penny! Highly recommended if you want your 'stang to sound like nothing else out there.

Looks awesome, sounds loud, and worth the $

Went from GT500 axlebacks to this system and its much louder at startup and thru all rpm ranges. There's drone around 2k rpm as most other people noted. If you want a system without drone then this isn't for you. It's a very solid product and worth the money for what you get.

      Stupid LOUD!!

These exhaust are really loud. I get asked all the time if i have straight pipes and they're surprised when i tell them i still have stock headers and cats. If you're looking for loud and raspy this is the exhaust to get. As for installation you will most likely need a lift to get the stock over axle pipes off and the new ones on.

      BEST EXHAUST HANDS DOWN!

When i bought my 11' GT first stop was exhaust! I was first going to mismatch mufflers and x-pipes but decided to just take the guess work out and buy the complete Flowmaster catback. Fitment was no issue (car lift highly recommended). Took me and my friend about an hour or so. Muffler tips were centered with bumper cutouts & everything tightened down perfectly. Now lets get to the best part... THE SOUND. This exhaust is the perfect tone anyone would ever need. This is the loudest and most aggressive tone while still keeping your cats in place. I can have the monsterously loud sound while still keeping my cats in place. No check engine lights, no worries! This is one of the most affordable catbacks on the market right now. For anyone thinking of buying it... DO IT! You will love it!!

      Amazing sound!!

Was going to get a Borla exhaust until I heard the flowmaster on a youtube video and then saw How much cheaper it was. Exhaust came in about a week after ordering with no issues thanks to American muscle. Stock exhaust was a pain to remove but eventually managed it. After that it was relatively smooth sailing fitting the flowmaster on. First start up with the flowmaster in blew my mind. It was making the whole shop my car was in shake it was so loud. The video in the Internet doesn't even do this exhaust justice. I definitely recommend this product.
