Hey everyone, Justin with AmericanMuscle.com here, and this is my general overview of McLeod’s Street Pro clutch, available for all 86-2010 Mustang GTs. Before I really start breaking down this clutch I just want to remind you guys to subscribe to our YouTube channel if you haven’t done so already simply by clicking on the banner below, or on the AM logo up in the corner at any point during this video. McLeod’s been around for over 40 years and are no strangers to the Mustang world, in fact they’ve designed clutches and drive line products for both Roush and Saleen, and even supplied flywheels for the Cobra R and 03 and 04 terminator Cobras. The Street Pro was designed to be a factory replacement or a stage 1 equivalent, holding roughly 350-400 horsepower, and 450-500 ft/lbs of torque depending on your application. If you would like to step it up a little bit McLeod does offer a Super Street Pro clutch, which of course will offer a little bit more power and torque. Either way if you’re not sure what clutch would be best for your setup, don’t be afraid to get in touch with one of our Mustang experts. The street pro features an organic based sprung hub disc, along with their signature red pressure plate, which together will give you a pedal strength slightly heavier than stock, with better clamping load, and holding capabilities. The clutch also includes a new pilot bearing and alignment tool, which will be needed for the install. McLeod’s street pro clutch is offered with a standard 10 spline option which is something a majority of Mustang owners with stock transmission will use, however if you’ve upgraded your input shaft in your transmission, you’ll be happy to know that McLeod does offer the street pro clutch in a 26 spline option, which is something other clutch manufacturers don’t always offer. As for the install, well we typically call any clutch job about 4 hours from start to finish. If you’ve never dropped a transmission before we definitely recommend getting this one done by your local shop, however if this is just another day in the garage for you, leave yourself a nice Saturday or Sunday afternoon in the garage to get the job done. This clutch is just one of the many McLeod options we carry here at AmericanMuscle.com so if you’d like to check out more of their clutch and flywheel lineup, including some of their twin disc stuff, all you have to do is simply click the link below to head back to the product page, if you’re not there already. The Street Pro clutch from McLeod would make a great factory replacement or stage 1 upgrade for those of you with stock or lightly modified Mustangs, and don’t forget you can find yours right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Technical Note. Because Ford made changes to the Mustang GT and Bullitt in mid year of 2001, be sure to check and see what kind of transmission type you have before ordering.

I bought this clutch on MARCH 27,2019 not even 3 months and the clutch broke already. YES I did the break in procedure I drove 1,000 miles just to make sure the clutch was broken in, never did a burn out, never dumped the clutch. The way it broke was downshifting from 4th to 3rd going 35 mph. I just heard something snap and lost the clutch pedal. 400 hp clutch broke on a 280hp 2v lol never againHelpful (1)

Not bad but didn’t need it
Not too much good to say about this really. You don’t need this much clutch it does not make the car faster so there was no point in just getting something that’s harder to press in and it’s near impossible to drive it smoothly plus no one gives recommendations on how to drive with these clutches. The quality may be good but if your aren’t supercharging or something keep your clutch.Helpful (2)

2003 SVT COBRA stockish replacement clutch
Very nice mildly upgraded clutch for your 2003 2004 terminator. Grabs very hard but wont hurt your left knee with the ton of clutch pedal to push. My engine is stock.Helpful (3)

500 miles allready in and allready race burnout and launch twice. Didn’t use the throw bearing from McLeod. Purchase ford racing throw bearing and poilt bearing. It does chatter a little bit but will go way later on.Helpful (5)

Been through 2 of these already.
I purchased this clutch along with a McLeod flywheel in February of 2017. The clutch did feel good to start with but only lasted a couple of months, and yes, I did break it in. When the clutch went out the flywheel went out with it, everything completely burnt and the flywheel's ring came off. I then bought the same clutch and flywheel a second time in April 2017 along with a rebuilt Tremec TR3650 transmission. My clutch is now slipping often and refuses to bite on initial acceleration. I've put maybe 6k miles on the car since the FIRST clutch. Now that I'm looking for yet another clutch, not sure I'd go with this one again.Helpful (5)

my stock clutch originally was giving out on me and figured it was time for an upgrade before it completely went out. I kept hearing nothing but good news about McLeod and chose to go with this one! I just recently hit 1000 miles on it (just installed February 2017) and I still love it just like I did the day of installation!Helpful (5)
Will I have any adverse affects using street D.O.T. racing tires with this clutch?
The McLeod Street Pro Clutch will have no issues with Drag radials, or full on slicks so long as you do not exceed the power rating.
Will this fit 8 bolt flywheel?
Yes, this will work with an 8 bolt flywheel that is included with the 99-04 Cobra/03-04 Mach 1 models.
In one of your pictures of the product it shows a shim that is the same diameter as the pressure plate, yet the product description says it only comes with clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, and tool. What is that shim for, and is that required to be used in installation?
This kit only includes a pressure plate, disc, throw out bearing and pilot tool. There is no shim included.
Will this clutch bolt up to another brands flywheel (ie Exedy)? Or does Mcleod require the use of its own flywheels?
This clutch can be used with a different brand flywheel but we strongly recommend using the same brands when it comes to drivetrain parts to ensure that everything fits perfectly.
