    Review & Installation Video

What's up everybody? Justin with americanmuscle.com. Welcome to my quick breakdown of the Roush axle-back exhaust system available for your 2015 Coyote powered GT. As you guys all just heard, the 2015 Roush axle-back definitely lives up to the claim of being one of the more aggressive axle-back systems available for your new GT. The same was true with the '11 to '14 S197 axle-back, and that same super aggressive tone has definitely found its way over to the new S550 kit. That super angry or aggressive tone does come courtesy of Roush's unique open chambered or hollow chambered mufflers as they call them. These things are unique in the fact that they don't use a traditional fiberglass packing material. This allows for that really aggressive tone you guys heard earlier. At the same time, it's going to keep any interior noise or drone to an absolute minimum. In addition, these mufflers are a straight through design, meaning any performance you might see, while minimal typically here with an axle-back, will definitely be a little bit more than what you might see with a traditional chambered muffler. All right, guys, going over the build quality a little bit here. You will notice what little piping there is has all been mandrel-bent two and a half inches in diameter. The entire system has been constructed from quality 304 grade stainless steel. This does include the four inch slash cut tips. These tips are cool because they do feature Roush's unique new chrome flashing process which they say will help reduce any discoloration over the years. By now, guys, you should know that with any 2015 axle-back install there is some cutting required. However, like I tell you in some previous videos, as long as you take your time and follow some basic guidelines you should be good to go. These guidelines do include making sure you have a nice fresh Sawzall blade on hand, make sure you wear your eye protection of course, and last but not least measure twice and cut once. Thankfully, Roush does include some really nice detailed instructions with this kit on where to cut. As long as you take your time, follow the instructions, you can expect to spend about two hours from start to finish getting this thing bolted up. If you guys are looking for one of the most aggressive axle-back systems from one of the most recognizable names in the Mustang world then be sure to check out the Roush axle-back for your Coyote powered GT right here at americanmuscle.com.

Aggressive Muscle Car Sound. Let your 5.0L Coyote engine howl with a Roush Axle-Back Exhaust. This innovative new Roush exhaust system features a hollow chambered muffler that results in increased air flow and a unique sound, with no in-cabin "boom" normally found with performance exhaust at cruising speeds.

Quality Roush Construction. Constructed from mandrel bent 304 stainless steel for a durable long life, the Roush axle-back exhaust system features two unique open chambered mufflers with 304 stainless steel 4" tips. The 4" tips are finished with a brand new chrome flashing process that is resistant to discoloration due to exhaust heat.

Cut & Clamp Installation. The installation of this Roush Axle-Back Exhaust requires cutting and removing the factory muffler assemblies and clamping the new muffler assemblies in place. Clamps and instructions are provided.

Application. This Roush Performance Axle-Back Exhaust System is designed to fit the all 2015-2017 GT Mustangs, including Fastback and Convertible models, for both great looks and great sound.

    5 Top Rated Questions

Bought a 2017 GT Fastback in December (2017) Will installing these or any aftermarket axle-back mufflers affect my five year warranty from Ford?

    • We suggest reaching out to the dealership to see if the Roush Axle-Back Exhaust will affect the warranty.

I will have this set for my mustang gt 10/12/17,my question is what is in the inside of these mufflers.

    • The mufflers in the Roush Axle-Back Exhaust will contain Roush's proprietary sound deadening materials to enhance the exhaust note of your Mustang.

I have an 11 month old son, will this be too loud for him in the back seat? I also have a 2006 with a bunch of work done to it and it is too loud for him to ride in so when my wife and I go to shows I need this to be noticeable louder but yet not too loud for my son. Thanks.

    • Hello! Unfortunately loudness is totally subjective to each person, as far as exhaust systems go, an axleback is the more quiet option. However, Roush is one of the louder axleback exhaust systems. I would recommend trying to find someone local with an axleback setup on their mustang, so you can hear it in person to decide.

Will this exhaust pair nicely with the Mishimoto H-pipe? I see all of the pairings going with an X pipe, but I really want that low pitched muscle rumble.

    • This Roush Axle-Back Exhaust does not directly attach to the Mishimoto H-Pipe, item 393882. There will still be stock portion of the exhaust that will be re-used that attaches the h-pipe to this axle-back. As long as that portion of exhaust is the same, the axle-back will fit flawlessly with that H-pipe. http://www.americanmuscle.com/mishimoto-hpipe-1517gt.html

I have 2 3 years warranty for my Mustang GT. Is there any warranty issue if I would modify the original exhaust system?

    • The Magnusson Moss Warranty Act: US Code – Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312, was created to protect consumer warranties. According to this act, a manufacturer such as Ford cannot void the warranty of a vehicle due to the use of an aftermarket part unless they can prove the aftermarket part directly cause or contributed to the failure of the vehicle.

      Mustang Motivation

This product is awesome! It is a great addition to the 5.0! Loud enough at the right time and a nice growl when you're cruising or idling. Being diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic, my troubles and worries fade away as I start my car. Windows up or windows down, this exhaust paired with the 5.0 gives me hope and strength to enjoy life!!! You will not regret this purchase.

      Great addition

I originally ordered the Ford Racing by Borla touring axle back for my 2016 GT PP and liked the deep sound when accelerating but I was still missing something. After doing extensive research I decided to try this Roush axle back setup and I'm not dissapointed. More sporty and has a good bark. Cruising speeds produce NO drone at all. I call it, "mild to wild" as it is quiet when you really want it to be but when you slam the gas or press down firmly it WILL produce that sporty sound we're all looking for in our coyote's. Good part is you retain the resonator so you don't lose any torque down low. Excellent finish and fits perfectly. No modifications needed other than the cut and clamp instructions.

Great! Allows you to be in control of volume

Had Flowmasters originally installed, but the Roush opened the coyote engine up and allows it breathe. It's aggressive on the outside but zero drone on the inside as I was getting before. It's sort of sleeper quiet in that you can determine the outside volume depending on how hard you are on the throttle. I would like if the tips were able to stick out just a smidge more but am completely happy with this setup even keeping the resonator. Would definitely recommend. Great product for the price!

Get noticed without people getting annoyed

This exhaust is great, it produces a nice deep sound that doesnt wake the neighbors. It sounds great, like a factory Mustang should. It produces a nice respectable sound rather than an annoying car that you just want to shut up. Worth every penny

      Pure Awesomeness !!!

All I can say is WOW. Installed these along with H pipe and now the beast has awakened. Loud and aggressive but have to say not too obnoxiously loud. You can hear me coming and going. Definitely a head turner. No drone at all. Have gotten so many compliments, you will not regret this purchase !!!

      Absolutely incredible

Paired with my X-Pipe, this axle back exhaust system sounds awesome. It is very loud as I have it set up. If this is your first exhaust mod, expect a loud, nice sounding system. If you also have an h-pipe or x-pipe installed, expect a very, very loud system with an very, very nice sound. If you have either an h-pipe or x-pipe installed and you don't want to have trouble with law enforcement about the volume of your system, this is not the system for you

      Quality

I Love my new Axle Back Exhaust System with Resonator Delete and X-Pipe!!!! My 2017 Mustang GT is so loud now I love. If you are looking to make people jump back, make their heads turn and wake up your entire neighborhood get this Exhaust. I love it compared to the stock exhaust you could barely hear. I started up my car this morning and it was a cold start, my neighbor was walking his dog crossing my driveway and it scared them. Well Done!

An easy 5 stars from me

These things sound amazing. Pretty shocked the difference the right axle back can make and the Roush is definitely the right one. What I like most is that it adds some hearty muscle car exhaust note at low revs - not a system that needs to be redlined to sound good (but it certainly sounds great at high revs!). Feels like it has picked up a bit of low down torque as well. Only comment I can make on the install is that it only took my mechanic 40 minutes to do it, and as a result it was a pretty cheap install.
