Jake here for American Muscle. And today I'm taking a look at the BBK 1-3/4-inch Long Tube Headers in titanium ceramic, fitting 2009 and newer 5.7-liter Hemi Challengers. Now, if you're looking to up your exhaust game to a whole new level, then these should definitely be on your shopping list. These are gonna provide a noticeable improvement in both sound and power delivery in addition to the good looks, solid construction, and some best-in-class pricing. Now, before we get too deep into it here, I do wanna make a note that since you are significantly changing up the way exhaust is gonna flow, and thus the location of your oxygen sensors, you are gonna need to get a tune when you install these. Now that is also gonna allow you to extract the most out of this setup, so not a bad thing at all. You're also gonna need oxygen sensor extenders, which we do have available on our site. And it's also important to note that these headers are not gonna fit all-wheel drive cars. Now, headers have been a topic of debate for a long time, short versus long tubes get people up in arms all over the place, but the long and short of it is that long tubes are gonna be better for high RPM power and bigger gains overall. They both will be an improvement versus your stock setup. Now, by nature of their design here, these are gonna keep the exhaust gases separated for longer periods of time, perform more smoothly, bringing them together down in the collector here. Now we're not gonna be installing or dyno-testing these, but BBK does claim upwards of 35 horsepower in peak gains. Though again, your results may vary depending on your car, the environment, and what you've got done to it. Regardless though, this is gonna be a noticeable increase in power and also in sound. Now, long tubes are known for bringing out that really aggressive drag car-like exhaust note, and that is certainly the case here. These are gonna be much louder than your stock exhaust. Though you can keep a bit of a lid on things if you run your stock mid pipes and your exhaust from the catback, both of which will work with this application. Though, of course, there are abundant aftermarket options and those will work well too.As far as construction goes, you've got some pretty good stuff here. Now again, these are full-length one and three-quarter-inch primaries, and these pipes here are made from CNC machine mandrel-bent 16-gauge steel. You've also got three eight-inch thick dye stamp flanges up here for strength. Everything is welded on pretty nicely to keep it all together and strong. And of course, they're finished in that titanium ceramic coating for protection and good looks under the hood. BBK also pressure tests each set of these to ensure leak-free performance, so you don't have to worry about putting these on and getting some kind of exhaust leak coming from these flanges here up by the manifold. Now, that ceramic coating also is not gonna discolor like a set of chrome headers will. So if that's important to you, this is gonna be the way to go.It also provides you with some additional durability for the long run too. So if you're planning on keeping your car for a long time, maybe something like this is gonna be a better fit for you than say a set of chrome headers. You also get a brand new set of gaskets in the kit too, so you don't have to worry about reusing them or even sourcing another set. BBK provides them for you too with some new hardware because invariably, if any of you have done exhaust manifold work before, you know that that can sometimes be a problem too. So it's important that you've got everything here in the kit.Pricing comes in around $700 making these about the least expensive option for long tube headers for the 5.7 Challengers. Now you aren't sacrificing on quality here either, so these are an excellent option that aren't gonna break the budget too. So if you want something that's gonna sound good, look good, and last you a long time, and make a noticeable improvement in drivability, you really can't go wrong with the set of these.Installation, however, is going to get a three out of three on our difficulty meter and it's gonna take you the better part of a full day to complete. Now again, while all the hardware and the gaskets are included in the box, this job is gonna test the metal of your toolbox. It is involved, especially if you don't have access to a lift. Of course, asking your preferred shop or mechanic to install these for you is always an option. And in a case like this, if you're not comfortable really diving in there, professional installation will be your best bet. As with most things though, if you've got the skillset, the toolbox, and of course the time, you can accomplish this at home, but make sure you're aware of how involved the job it is before you attempt it.That's gonna wrap it up here for our review of the BBK 1-3/4-inch Long Tube Headers in titanium ceramic, fitting 2009 and newer 5.7 liter Hemi Challengers. Thank you so much for watching. And as always, for all things Challenger, be sure to keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.
