    Hey, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I'm going to be taking a closer look at BBK's long tube headers, available in either ceramic or chrome for all 2011 and newer Mustang GTs. Simply put, long tube headers are designed to completely replace your restrictive factory manifolds, which can really choke out the flow of exhaust. Long tube headers paired with an aftermarket Mid Pipe and exhaust will make for a very free-flowing setup that should give you a nice bump in both power and sound. As far as price is concerned, you'll find these long tubes from BBK to be right in the middle of the road. Now as far as construction is concerned, you'll see some slight similarities with the BBK and the Pype's long tube headers. They both share Mandrel-bent long straight runners, which is going to be great for top-end power, however the BBK features a 1-and-3/4 inch Mandrel-bent tubing, whereas the Pype's offer a 1-and-5/8ths inch Mandrel bent tubing, so you are getting larger diameter tubing with the BBK and the option to go with the ceramic coating as well. That ceramic coating is going to offer a couple of different benefits, first of which is performance. Ceramic dissipates heat a lot better than a raw stainless or chrome-plated header, so it's going to have a slight edge performance-wise, and should help keep under-the-hood temps down as well. Now the chrome option will be less expensive, and it won't dissipate heat quite as well as a ceramic coating, but one thing's for sure, that chrome finish is really going to pop under the hood. In addition to the different finish options available with the BBK headers, you'll also enjoy a perfect fit, thanks to the laser-cut flanges and quality welds that will help prevent any premature failure down the road. Installing any set of long tube headers can be a little intense, so if you don't think you have the mechanical skills to get the job done, then I would leave this one up to the professionals. However, if you are going to tackle the job, just leave yourself a full day, just to be safe. Keep in mind, whenever you run a set of long tubes like these BBKs, you will need to address your Mid Pipe. In this case, you'll need to run a flanged and shorty Mid Pipe to get everything bolted up properly. Now BBK recommends their shorty X-Pipe just for best fit and performance gains. So if you're looking for a quality set of long tubes with a number of different benefits and the option of a chrome or ceramic finish, you might want to check out these long tubes from BBK for your coyote Mustang.

    More Horsepower and Torque. Improve the performance of your 5.0L Coyote Engine with a set of BBK Long Tube Headers. These BBK chrome plated headers will greatly improve your mustangs exhaust flow over the restrictive factory manifolds and increase your Pony's horsepower and torque. Significant increases in rear wheel horsepower have been seen when installed with a matching BBK Shorty X pipe or Midpipe Adapter.

    Quality Construction. BBK Long Tube Exhaust headers are manufactured from 1-3/4" CNC mandrel bent tubing for unrestricted airflow. And feature one piece laser cut 3/8" header flanges for added strength, leak-free performance and OEM fit. These headers are then completed in a bright chrome finish for good looks and a long life.

    Recommended Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that these Long Tube Headers have to offer, AmericanMuscle recommends a custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

    Additional Required S550 Upgrades. Installation of these BBK Long Tube Headers on a 2015-2017 S550 Mustang will require the use of a set of BBK Long Tube Header Adapter Mid-Pipes part# 1816 or 18160 and an O2 Extension Harnesses and Hardware Kit part# 16332. Please see options listed above. Sold separately.

    Application. These BBK 1-3/4" Chrome Long Tube Headers are specifically designed to fit the 2011-2017 GT Mustangs equipped with the Coyote 4 valve 5.0L V8 engine.

    Application Note. BBK Long Tube Headers require the use of a BBK Shorty Midpipe, part# 1655 or 1658, for 2011-2014 GT or the BBK Long Tube Header Adapter Mid-Pipes part# 1816 or 18160, for the 2015-2017 GT for proper installation.These Headers are intended for left hand drive applications only.

        If I bought the chrome bbk long tube headers would the SR performance H-pipe fit it? And will the h-pipe give me as much of a power gain as the x-pipe?

You get a different sound with both.  Raspy with an X and lower deeper with H.

        OK, so do I need the front and rear O2 extension cord for my 2014 GT?

        • Yes, O2 extensions are needed when using these headers.

        I recently bought the borla atak which it comes with its own x-pipe will I be able to use it ? Or do I have to get their bbk mipipe .?

        • If you have an 11-14 GT, then we can only guarantee fitment for the same brand mid pipe offered with the headers as they are specifically designed for those headers. If you have a 15-17, as long as the mid pipe is the same diameter as the connector pipes offered with the headers you will be good to go.

        • As long as you get the matching BBK shorty mid-pipe this will work with the cat-back yes.

            Longtubes

            Longtubes x e85 make a big difference in comparison to fbo with shorties. I really like the power I get from the longtubes accompanied with my nitrous set up. I should’ve converted over from shorties a long time ago.

            Worth every penny

            Changed the sound of my 14 GT so much. Love them. Not too loud under regular driving conditions but amazing under WOT. Pretty time consuming difficult install but it was worth it. Paired them with a high flow catted x pipe and had the roush axelbacks.

            If you are looking to grab some attention in town or even at the track these headers will do the trick. Solid construction, huge BBK logo welded on the side, and it even came with o2 sensor extensions/hardware to install it. Shouts out to BBK for making some power and noise.

            Great Headers

            I first want to say that any long tube header install on these s197’s is going to be a chore. We used a lift and there definitely isn’t much room to get everything into place, or to even tighten the headers to the block. The best piece of advice I can give is to get a buddy, or two, give you a hand! All in all it took about 10 hours to remove everything, install these and the BBK catted x-pipe, and put everything else back on. The work is completely worth it! The exhaust note is perfect. It’s loud when you get on it but take at idle.

            BBK LT Headers

            These are great. Ordered these along with the off road mid pipe, they went along great with my mbrp cat back race exhaust. Completely eliminated all the drone from the catback and h pipe. Car gets extremely loud when you want it to, but stays very quiet at cruising speeds and highway. Anybody hesitant on buying these... just pull the trigger you won't regret it.!

            Headers

            I did the work myself. The headers looked great. I did the work on a car lift. The drivers side took me about 30 mins and the passenger side took the rest of the weekend. The one thing I want to point out is that in the instructions it tells you to leave three studs only. They are to be replaced with hardware that comes in the kit. It never came with enough bolts to replace the studs. It does come with two sets of bolts that are different thread pitch. But not enough bolts for both sides.

            BBK 1-3/4in long tubes

            Fitment was great idle isnt to loud but wot pulls are amazing now i did the install on jackstands driver side is a cake walk as for the passenger side your going need some patience!

            Unleash the Beast.

            Installing BBK 1 and 3/4 long tube ceramic headers increased my rwhp by 26 hp. While I have a cold air intake, the ceramic headers do a great job of evacuating heat. Air intake temps are very close to outside air temps when going 50 mph for a few minute.

            awesome set of headers

            huge power gain coupled with the boss 302 manifold, bbk cai and throttle body. is nice and tame from 1000 to 3500 rpm and then just starts to scream with a satisfying snap, crackle, pop when you let off.

            Get Loud

            I have these headers paired with the BBK catted mid-pipe and Corsa Xtreme cat back system on my 17 GT. I was looking for long tubes that had reasonable volume when in the lower RPMs and screamed up high. This combo is extremely loud when I want it too be, but if I need to be quiet through my neighborhood I can do it. Warning, if you rip on it in town, be ready to draw some unwanted attention. The sound from this set up is very high pitched and sounds more like a race car than a traditional muscle car.

            Didnt come with gaskets

            Headers looked good but i never recieved the gaskets that are suppose to be included. Now i have to purchase them seperate

            Long tubes

            These headers were the nost bang for you buck, but i wouldn't say quality suffers from them being on the cheaper side. Changed the sound of the stang to a more deep note,but it's hard to say what it will sound like on other people car because it depends on the exhaust you have paired with it. Installation was a little more difficult then anticipated but it's done. The best way I found out to get the top nuts on the passenger side was to Jack the motor up as high as I could. Make sure you have plenty of extensions and stubby wrenches . Overall the bruised hands are all worth it once you hear that coyote sing!

            Sounds nice but expected better quality

            Sound good but NOT AS GOOD as I really thought they would sound like. These headers from what I’ve read are supposed to be a good quality header and unfortunately was disappointed in the finish. The O2 sensors on both headers had welds and sharp pieces of stainless steel on top of the threads through the inside of it. The shop owner had showed me because the sensors weren’t catching with the threads so he had to grind and re-thread the opening which cost me an extra $65 on top of the big installation price. I will be calling AM support service and see about getting a $50 gift card to reimburse me for that flaw, otherwise my expenses will be going to a different retailer.
