Hi, I bought this item in March of 2019 and has been amazing! There is NO drone at all, and the sound is so cool. I have to admit, after driving quiet cars for about 30 years this took a little adjusting but boy is it fun now! It's a nice low, rumble, grumbling sound you could say, not that horrible loud crackling sound you sometimes hear. And the crackling when you're in gear and slowing down, wow. Get it!Helpful (1)

Just what I wanted
Fast shipping. Product was not damaged at all, install took me and my father in law about 45 min. After many days of looking at my options, I decided to go with the borla and I couldn’t be any happier, nice deep rumble at idle, not loud when regular driving but aggressive at WOT. Zero drone. Best option out there no doubt about it.Helpful (1)

Took an afternoon to install on jack stands in my garage, I probably could have done it faster but was not in a rush. Instructions don't mention that you have to cut off the clamp from the factory mufflers, luckily I had a cut-off wheel for my grinder so it wasn't a big deal. They fit perfect and sound great.Helpful (6)

Love the Sound!
Ordered these after listening to countless exhaust videos. My main hangup before the purchase was the price, but they were exactly what I was looking for. They arrived well packaged and in perfect condition. The quality is obvious. Super easy install when you unbolt the hangers (only took about 20-30 minutes). I also have the Borla Over Axle Pipes installed, too. These things sound amazing. Deep tone and very throaty note. They are loud on initial cold start, but settle down below 1,000 rpm. It is easy to modulate the sound with your right foot. The more throttle you give the car the louder it gets. At highway speeds, there is no drone and sounds only slightly louder than stock. My only criticism of them is the size of the tips. When I first saw them in person, they looked huge! I am getting use to the size, and they do look better installed, but they are much larger than stock, and look larger than the GT500 i had. They fill the cutouts completely with very little gap around the tips. My passenger side is slightly off center compared to the driver side, but i thing this is more to do with my hangers than the mufflers (its hardly noticeable to the naked eye). These do get very hot. Make sure they are not in contact with the bumper because it will melt it. Overall, the best exhaust you can buy even though they are more expensive than most. I cant see myself ever replacing them because they sound perfect to me.Helpful (8)

2011 Mustang GT with Borla S Type Axleback
I’m very pleased with this exhaust system . The price may be high but it is very worth it ! At first I was gonna go with Flowmasters outlaws or Roush Axle Back since they were cheaper but after hearing them in person and in video , they were simply too loud for me and they had drone . The S Type is Borla”s in between system of sound . The Touring system is slightly louder then stock but not really noticeable . The S Type ( the one that I have ) is louder then stock and gives your 5.0 a nice rumble and that classic vintage sound you look for in a muscle car . I also looked at the Atak which is Borla”s most aggressive system and that system is very similar to the Outlaws from Flowmaster . So overall , the S Type”s are perfect for somebody looking to get classic sound out of their mustang and have a system that’s louder then stock and definitely a head tuner but not too loud to where the cops are always gonna be on your tail . Also THEY IS NO DRONE AT ALL , HIGHWAY SPEEDS , LOW RPM”s , CITY DRIVING so that’s also a plus .Helpful (8)

Super Aggressive Exhaust Tone
I recently installed these with the Borla Over axle pipes, x-pipe and Long Tube Headers. I can not emphasis how loud these are with that setup. That being said, I get nothing but good comments on how it sounds. When I hit WOT.. These things just go stupid. I went with these over the Ataks because these were supposed to be quieter. These are borderline too loud with the LTH. Just take that under advisement when doing the entire system .Helpful (7)

This is one of the best sounding exhausts I've had. I have stock exhaust up until this product and there is zero drone at any rpm range. Highly recommended.Helpful (6)

great throaty exhaust
if you're looking for that classic muscle car sound look no farther for just an axleback. gets rid of the raspy sound the stock makes with more throat to make that coyote howl when you really give it some gas.Helpful (5)
I ordered these and get them next week....cannot wait! I do have a question however. I have a 2011 GT. Is there any cutting involved with this install? Some people say yes, some say no. I’m trying to decide if I should take my car in for professional installation OR if I can do it myself.
This is a direct bolt-on, no cutting is required.
Do they fit on 2010 GT500 ? Or it needs modifications ? Thanks
This axle-back exhaust is designed for the 2011-2012 Mustang GT models and unfortunately will not work with the 2010 GT500.
I currently have a set of Pypes Pype-Bomb Super System Cat-Back Exhaust on my 2012 GT and I get a lot of drone at highway speeds. Can I install these borla axle-back onto the the other system and get ride of the droning or do I need to replace the complete system?
As long as the pipes are the same as the factory exhaust piping it will fit but in order to get no drone, we would recommend purchasing the kit from Borla as you can still get some drone using the Pypes tubing.
How much of a horsepower gain would I get out of this axleback ?
The Borla Stinger S-Type Axle-Back Exhaust and all other Axle-back exhausts will provide minimal performance gains, typically around 5hp and under.
I know they made ones for the 2013-14 GT but will these ones fit a 14 GT? From what I've heard they will but they will stick out, which I would actually prefer
The Borla Stinger S-Type Axle-Back Exhaust (11-12 GT) will not fit with the 2014 GT as the location of the hangers and muffler chambers are a slightly different size. We can only confirm fitment for 2011-2012 GT Mustangs.
