      Jake: Jake here for American Muscle, and today I'm taking a look at the DiabloSport inTune i3 Platinum Tuner fitting 2015 to 2017 6.4 liter HEMI Challengers. This is going to appeal to the 6.4 liter Challenger owner who's looking for an all-inclusive, easy to install tuning kit that's going to give them a solid performance improvement with lots of flexibility and features. This setup includes everything you need to get a tune onto your Challenger with no fuss at a pretty reasonable price.Now there's a lot to talk about here, but I want to talk about the fact that the PCM is included. Now this is going to be an unlocked tunable PCM unit that you're going to get and will swap out with your factory one. So you're going to avoid all the messiness of dealing with trying to unlock your factory unit. This one comes right out of the box, ready to be swapped in so no fuss there. And since a modified PCM is required to utilize a tuning module on these cars, this is an excellent solution to make the whole thing very plug and play. Now you are going to have to ship your original PCM unit back to DiabloSport, however, but once you get the new one in, you can plug right in and you're ready to go. Now this little module has a lot of firepower behind it. The inTune i3 Platinum Tuner comes preloaded with tunes that are all dyno tested and street proven by DiabloSport to ensure that you're going to see improved power and drivability without sacrifice. When you go to program the tune in, you're going to get asked a few questions regarding what octane fuel you plan to use, if you've changed the tire size versus your stock setup, and the module is going to give you tunes based on how you answer those questions. You can also do things like remove the speed limiter, disable the electronic stability program, adjust your rev limiter, disable active fuel management, control your cooling fan, adjust spark timing, adjust the air fuel ratio, and even calibrate the speedometer to accommodate larger wheels and tires or even a different gear ratio. This unit is also going to save your stock tune, so if you do need to revert back to OEM spec at any point, you can do that very easily by just plugging this in. This also has the ability to receive updates via Wi-Fi in addition to using your Mac or Windows PC too, so you can update it either via Wi-Fi or using the included USB cable. But there's even more to it than that. This also allows for data logging, so you can check on different engine parameters to see how everything is performing on the fly, and you can download the logs onto your computer into DiabloSport's Data Viewer software to view and analyze that data. The tuner unit can also read and clear diagnostic trouble codes, so if you do happen to pop a check engine light, you can use this to read the codes and clear them out of the engine computer right in your driveway. Save yourself a trip to the shop.The whole thing is controlled via this little touch screen and it has excellent screen resolution too. So it's easy to use, it's easy to navigate, and it also looks good if you want to keep it up and use it as a display in the car as well. Remember, it will show you live data as you're driving. Price wise, this whole kit with the tuner and PCM will run you about $650. Let's not pull any punches, for all you're getting here, that is a good deal. The flexibility of the tuning module alone is great, but you also keep the ability to revert the car back to stock by yourself, and you can modify a bunch of different parameters, and you get that new PCM, and you have data logging as well. Now, a standalone tuner is not much less than this kit, and it doesn't include all the capabilities or the PCM. With all the features and the ease of installing use, I really think you get an excellent value with this one.When it comes to installation, this one's going to get a one out of three on our difficulty meter, and it should only take you about 45 minutes to get it installed. It's a simple plug and play operation. You're probably going to spend more time messing around in the system, getting things set up, than you will actually swapping out either the PCM or plugging this guy in. But the actual installation is quite simple. Definitely something you can do in your own driveway. Not much more I can say about it here at the table. So with that, let's go ahead and throw it over to one of our AM customers, who's going to walk you through the process.Man: Okay, we've done the updates to the DiabloSport i3. The next step for the instructions here will be to remove the negative battery cable. So grab the strap, flip this up, go to the battery cable here. Can remove either one. I'm actually going to take off the positive because it's looking right at me. Pop that off. Set that aside. That step is done.Okay, the next step for the DiabloSport i3 on this Challenger is to remove the cover over the PCM, which is the powertrain control module. It's in the cowl area. It is on the passenger side. There are two plugs, one here, one here, plastic plugs that essentially just need to be pried off. So use a screwdriver or a pry tool, get it up. Second one is over in the corner. Sometimes they're a little tricky to get under. Once you're under them, you can pry it out. Bud comes out, cover off and there's the PCM. So from there, there's an M13 bolt here that needs to come off to lift this PCM and its bracket out to get to the plugs. There's a top plug here and then there's a bottom and those two need to come off. So I will grab the M13. Take that off. Okay. Now this is loose. You can see the PCM is back here, it's silver. So I'm gonna line this brace with a rag or some gaffer's tape, something to actually try to protect it because I don't want to scratch it up. Just my personal preference. Some people don't care. So from there, this is very tight. Try to get this up out of there. The top plug easier to push down right here and then you can pull the red tab back up and off of it. Just kind of wiggle it a little bit. Maybe try to get a pry tool in there.So this is the top plug that's off. It's a lot of wiggling around to get that top piece off. But just be patient. You can see the lower plug. It's the exact same thing and one sets up and out, we'll take these two fasteners off right here to remove the bracket and then the PCM will be removed. So it just takes patience, it takes a little bit of wiggling. You do not want to force it, you want to make sure that those come off nice and clean and you don't damage the plugs. The lower plug here, I reach in, same thing pressed on the button, swing the tab up and out. And then essentially start to wiggle this off. On the top I used a screwdriver, so probably the same thing here. Just start to pry it a little bit to get it going. See here I'm prying it off, just ever so slightly to get it started. And then I'll pull that off out of there.Okay, the PCM has been removed and it's out of the car. I have the second PCM from the swap that was sent to me by Holly. So a couple of things, number one. There's a plug here. I'm going to switch this over and then there's the bracket here. That's going to have to be switched over as well. Those are both M10 nuts. So I'll switch those over. Pretty easy. So there the brackets on the new PCM. The bumpers on the new PCM. So we're ready to go back in the car. It's just the reverse. You've got to be patient. You've got to wiggle it around. It's very tight. You don't want to mark anything up, get your hand pinched. Just have to be patient with putting those two plugs in. And then the PCM is back in the car.Next, we're going to install the tune on the Challenger with the DiabloSport i3. You can see I'm connected to the OBD port. It's just to the right of the emergency brake under the dash. Next step is to say yes to agreeing to the terms. Now we're going to follow the steps on the instructions. So on the pink sheet it says to turn the ignition to the run position or press the start button twice. This would be without hitting the brake pedal. And then turn the ignition to the off position or press the start button again. Off. The key should be in lock position. The start button should have a lock illuminated. Now you may start the vehicle. Okay, next we're actually going to download the tune. You'll select tune vehicle which takes you to this screen here and it says please ensure the key is in the run position but do not start from the engine. One, two. Continue. We're going to go easy tune. I'm going to go 93 Octane, I run 93. Select tune. Yes. Change the tire size. No. Remove the speed limiter, sure. Tap yes to continue. Okay, it says please turn the ignition to off. And then continue. Please turn the ignition on. Do not start the engine. Continue. Install this tune. Yes. Apply selected tune with tire size, gear ratio and speed limiter as selected. Yes. Please turn the ignition off. Continue. Please turn the ignition on. Two more presses. Continue. Please turn the ignition off. Continue. So you can see there's a lot of cycling. Please turn the ignition on. Two more. Continue. Tuning complete. You may unplug the tool and enjoy driving the vehicle.
