Review & Install Video

Hey, I’m Justin with, and I’m going to be checking out Flowmaster’s Force II series axle-back exhaust for the 2011 and newer V6 Mustang. The Force II utilizes Flowmaster’s classic 40-series muffler to give you a sound that’s more impressive than stock, without being overly obnoxious. The end result is a great tone that gives you that classic Flowmaster pop and gurgle when coming down off the revs without any excess interior drone. Flowmaster opts to go with their 16 gauge aluminized steel with most of their kits, including their Force II, which is great for resisting corrosion. The entire kit’s finished off with these dual 4 inch polished tips, which are also removable so you can take them off and polish them up if you get them a little dirty. When it comes time to install the kit, it should only take about an hour using standard hand tools. Now let’s hear how Flowmaster’s Force II sounds compared to your factory exhaust.

Signature Flowmaster Sound. Give your 3.7L V6 Mustang that unmistakable Flowmaster sound with a Force II axle-back from AmericanMuscle. The Flowmaster Force II Axle-back Exhaust with its mandrel bent tubing will greatly improve your Mustangs exhaust flow for an increase in power, and the included 60 Series Delta Flow Mufflers will improve your exhausts sound for a deep aggressive muscle car exhaust note.

Quality Construction. Constructed from durable 2.5" 409 stainless steel tubing for its corrosion resistant properties, the Flowmaster axle back features special 5" X 10" chambered 60 Series mufflers with massive 4.0" diameter polished stainless steel tips for muscle car looks and sound. As an added bonus the tips are embossed with the "Flowmaster" logo for true custom styling.

Application. This Flowmaster Force II Axle-Back exhaust system is designed to fit the 2011-2014 and newer 3.7L V6 Mustang for both great looks and great sound.

if I buy this now, about a year from now will I be able to switch it into another mustang? I have a 2013 v6 and i want to buy this axle back exhaust, I made a stupid sedition of buying my car automatic! So in 1 year I'm going to trade it in go another 2013 mustang v6 but with a manual transmission ... Will I be able to reinstall the this same axle back exhaust into my future car?

  • Definitely - as long as it's a 2011-2013 V6, you won't have any problems using it on your current automatic and switching it to a new manual when the time comes. Hope this helps!

Will Axle-Back increase Horsepower or is it mainly for the improved sound? What are benefits to doing all at once with a CATBACK installation?

  • You will see a very minimal power gain with the axle-back, their will be a slight improvement because it will be more free flowing than the stock set up. There will be a larger gain with a catback setup however, still relatively moderate if its not paired with an aftermarket midpipe or headers as well as if the intake is still the stock, more restrictive assembly.

Im a little confuse , thats the price for a single exhaust or for both sides ! I dont want to buy it and only get one side !!

  • Hello! $635.97 is the price for both sides of the Flowmaster Force II Axle-Back Exhaust.

Hi, My 2014 is automatic. Will it be the same sound? Also, will my CAI make the sound more loud? Thanks, Benoit Tremblay, Québec

  • Hello! For this Flowmaster Force II Axle-Back Exhaust we do have a video that gives an example of the sound it will create. Of course a CAI will allow more air to travel in to the engine and the Flowmasters will allow more exhaust to exit so it may change it slightly. The 60 Series Delta Flow Mufflers will improve your exhausts sound for a deep aggressive muscle car exhaust note!

Do these add hp by any chance?

  • Axle-back mufflers generally do not have an affect on power numbers since there is not enough back pressure built up at the mufflers to free up any horsepower.

    Flowmaster Exhaust

This product seems pretty good, the mufflers were painted, looks like flowmaster dripped a little paint nd the paint seemed to have been coming off in a few spots though its stainless steel so it wont rust. The kit was fairly easy to install but the right side didn't want to go into the hanger brackets and I had to remove the hanger bracket because the pipe coming from the cat was in the way, so I removed the bracket put it on the mufflers hangers and reinstalled it once the muffler was connected to the mid pipe. That side sat a little off but the left side was dead center on the cutouts on the bumper. Sound is great a little on the quiet side but once you get on it, you can hear it. Tone quality is WAY BETTER THAN STOCK EXHAUST. Though I had a few Install issues the kit was well worth it. I haven't had it dyno'd yet planning on doing that in January but this is a kit to buy based on sound and appearance. Also flowmaster warranty is 10 years so if something goes wrong they will replace it. Easy to install all you need is a ratchet set 2 ratchets needed for the tail pipes I did it in my driveway without jacks or a lift.

You Bought These To Make Noise, Right?

I've used Flowmasters for years and really like the sound and quality of the product. My stock exhaust was just too quite; I really couldn't hear much at all from the driver's seat. These new mufflers really woke up the sound, but are generally mellow in cruising- just what I wanted. Noticed a bit of an uptick in power in the midrange. My only complaint is they do tend to drone a tad around 79-81 mph on my car. Solution is to set the cruise a little above or below that speed. The tips look amazing and really make the stock ones look like something you don't won't to step in. In response to some of the other comments on here: Dude, you will REALLY regret cutting the hangers in the very near future. Just push harder, use silicon lube, and the stock hangers come right out of the donuts. On the Goodyear shop install- the fit of these mufflers are VERY adjustable; just losen the clamp and slide them laterally to get the tailpipe to line up with the bumper cutout. Nobody should pay to have these installed unless they can't tell an Allen wrench from a screwdriver. Sound? What's all this complaining about how they're too loud? That's why you bought them, right?

    No regrets

First I would like to say that I was that guy that was really worried about what exhaust to buy because I did not want an exhaust that was too loud and obnoxious. Also I did not want an exhaust that is too quiet that you can not hear. After many nights of staying up late reading reviews and watching clips I knew that the flowmasters were for me. Not to mention they were also priced the best out of all the axle backs for the 2011-2012 mustang v6. When I first turned the engine on and heard the roar from the exhaust, I knew I made the right choice. This exhaust has a great deep idle to it. When you stop on the gas you are rewarded with the most pleasing sound. Only problem is, you don't want to take your foot off the gas. Trust me when I say you will not be disappointed. I would recommend this product to anyone wanting a louder and deeper exhaust for their mustang v6. Also I would like to add that I had this installed at a shop along with an Airraid cold air intake and the Barton shifting bracket. All together it cost me $200 for installation for all three. Finally I would just like to thank American Muscle for being very helpful and their knowledgeable staff who was able to answer every single one of my questions.

    Great Sound

Just installed them today and i got to say it sounds great at idle very deep tone and you will notice the difference. I thought it will be louder from all the videos that i found online. But it does the job great. When just cursing the road the muffler has a great sound and deep tone but if you step on it that is a very different story. I am very impressive how my v6 sounds. To be honest you may say at idle has that tone of a v8. Took me a hour to install them and to align then to my liking. so i do recommend them to whoever wants a v8 sounding v6.

    Oh the sound!

I've got both the Airaid CAI and the flow master axel back exhaust. I never really listened to the stock exhaust as I installed both as soon as I left the dealer. All I can say is that sound just makes me want to never let off the skinny pedal except to just run thru all the gears again and again. The installation was simple and straight forward, the fit and finish is beautiful. The sound is not obnoxious at all but it begs you to push the car. The only problem, if you want to call it a problem, is the need to hear that wonderful sound has produced three tanks of gas averaging 19 mpg. I just can't seem to lay off and see what kind of mpg's this V6 can get. But it's just too much fun to care. If you have the V6, get a CAI and this exhaust. You will love it!

Fast shipping received the exhaust in a day. I was going to install myself, however i took my wifes advice and went to a local shop, listen to your wife's guys! Great sound over all, noticeable torque and HP, maybe 5 to 10 hp definitely better than stock as per the previous review. Highly reccomended, Flowmaster has been around a while, verry affordable and high quality, combine them with great service from American Muscle you cant go wrong.

    Easy, Peazzy

Quickest install ever; took me about 30 minutes to do. Only encountered a slight problem with the fact that the factory tack welded my old exhaust on. Took a few rubs with the hack saw to free it. Overall the sound is great! I was a bit worried about this "drone" people have been complaining about at higher speeds but I haven't heard a drone at all. Good buy though, makes my Mustang sound like a MUSTANG :).

    Its alright

After seeing so many positive reviews of this I was sure it would be what i was looking for. For the most part im satisfied. My only complaint, and it's a big one, is that from 3-4.5 RPM there is a distinct "tinny" sound, the exact opposite of how a muscle car should sound. almost similar to a civic can :/ On idle its great, and 1-2 rpm also great, but its right in the sweet spot where the tone is less than ideal. Culd it be that something is loose? or improperly installed? i Took it to a very reputable shop for the install.

    Are you kidding me?

Maybe I'm just getting old - I'm no 17 year old driving a tin-can Honda - but, oh my gawd, these were horrible! After one day of embarrassing my beautiful convertible, I put the OEMs back on and returned these. Waaay too loud, and not a clean sound at all, muddy and obnoxious. Nice at idle, and okay at cruise, and Japanese-screaming-motorcycle at WOT if you like that, but under normal acceleration, they sound like crap. The nice things I can say: well built, good fit, look nice, and even though I'm not very mechanically inclined, I installed them in under 40 minutes (and removed them in about the same!)

    Too loud for me

If I had a V8 ahead of these, I would probably love the sound, but a V6 should be muffled down to be bearable. They are too loud for this old guy. The chrome tips are very nice and add a nice touch to the car's appearance.

    Sounds Great!

Now, this is how a Mustang is supposed to sound! I could not be happier with the sound quality of the Flowmaster mufflers. It is not that they are just louder than the stock mufflers. They actually change the tone of the exhaust. The rumble at idle is very deep, and it has a good, powerful growl under acceleration. Highway cruise is still pretty quiet with no noticeable drone. Put the pedal to the metal, and they do make some noise. Awesome! Installation was a breeze. I have a pretty good mechanical aptitude, but this was so easy I would think that almost anybody could get this done in under a couple of hours. It took me about an hour, and I did put the car up on jack stands to give myself a little more room to work. The fit is perfect. Just take a little time to line everything up before tightening it all the way down. The chrome tips look great. My only complaint is that one of the mufflers has a little rust showing where some of the paint has chipped off on the rear bottom. I find this odd since they are supposed to be stainless. Oh well. I've had them on the car for about a month, and still look forward to every time I fire it up. Overall, I would buy them again without hesitation.

the classic muscle car sound you should expect from flowmaster

i reviewed every axle back exhaust for my 2012 v6, and heard all the sounds clips and the best muscle car sound, not ricey, but purrrre american muscle sound that pairs perfect with the new v6 mustang is w/o a doubt the flowmaster. i love the sound this exhaust makes, and it's quiet going down the road cruising, but when you hit it, you get the perfect tone. it's lighter, better looking and sounds 10x better than the stock pipes. i wouldn't go with any other exhaust on this, my only slight complaint is when we installed them i had to have the exhaust shop straighten them out but besides that, great exhaust and a 10 yr warranty, and also the cheapest one out, i 100% recommend this to anyone who has a 2011+ v6, buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Flowmaster After Axel Force II for V6

At 76 I decided to have the Muffler man Install the product. All went well but he ad a heck of a time getting them aligned out the back end. In fact he spent more time doing that that the rest of the installation, but his work was excellent for $86. The sound is just what I was looking for . . . very mellow and deep, definitely more noticeable, but not offensive. Now it is more reminiscent of my original 64 1/2 Pony car with four on the floor, tach. and a 289 V8 with a four barrel carb. It's been 50 years since I am back in the saddle again and even if it's my past mid-life crisis, I am enjoying!

Not too loud, not to subdued - just right (for me)!

I upgraded to Flowmater Force II as the best of both worlds. I am a bit older and didn't want my neighbors cursing me every morning as I left for work. This system provided the level of stealth to get out of the neighborhood but gives me that performance growl I want when I step on the pedal and shift through the gears. I will say that when I first got them on, I was a little disappointed but, when I added the Airaid CAI the tone changed to a deeper one. If you like the LOUD, there are plenty of choices but for me, this is the one!

    Great product

I bought these axle backs after I got my car and it was super easy and I had no problems doing the job without even lifting the car. I love the tone its quiet for my neighbors but when I punch it on the streets it still screams power. I could notice the change in pressure on the exhaust and would guess it to give 5-7 HP just a little more that I could notice. I love these mufflers and am glad I bought them.

These mufflers are only a little bit better than the OEM. Louder, sure. More aggressive, sure. Worth what I paid? Not at ALL. I read many reviews saying these were TOO loud, having owned a mustang that was too loud myself (because they were glass packs) I understand this, but seeing these flowmasters are chambered my thoughts were this should be right in the middle of too loud and OEM but they aren't they are only a few notches above OEM. I fully regret buying these. sometimes I can't even tell that I have aftermarket mufflers unless I floor it. They have good tone and I like the sound but when I start the car there is no thrill or excitment to them. Just me squinting thinking. "Ya I think I can tell a difference."

the more I look at other exhausts the more I love these. all the other exhausts such as bassani make it sound like an import, not a muscle car. Besides a muffler delete, these are probably the loudest axle-backs available. I hope thin helped!
