Review & Install Video

I’m Justin with, and I’m going to be breaking down Pypes Violator Axle-back exhaust for the 2005-2010 Mustang GT. Even though the Violator uses what appears to be a traditional chambered muffler design, much like your factory exhaust or even the Magnaflow street, but instead of this muffler being filled with sound baffles, which can actually keep your sound levels down, the Violator from Pypes actually includes some sound deflectors into the muffler design, which give you a very aggressive exhaust note. Those rude sounding mufflers are constructed from thick 409 grade stainless steel, and exit out of these dual 4” polished tips, which feature a very cool rolled edge and slashed cut for a unique, quality look. Since the Violator bolts into the stock location without any modification, getting everything installed should only take you about an hour using a basic socket set. Now let’s hear how Pypes Violator series axle-back sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

Increase Performance. Bolting on a Pypes Violator Axle-Back to a stock 2005 to 2010 GT will yield an instant 5 to 10 horsepower gain! It features two Violator mufflers for Pypes ultimate in flow (and power gain) with an ultra aggressive sound!

Aggressive Sound. Pypes Axle-Back features the Violator "Rude Sound" muffler that uses an internal louvered tube with mini sound deflector chambers that result of a unique aggressive sound.

Quality Construction; OEM Fit. This Axle-Back system from Pypes is constructed from high quality polished 304 Stainless Steel and features a 4" rolled edge slash cut polished stainless tip, that exits in the stock location for aggressive Muscle Car looks.

Application. The Pypes Violator Axle-Back is designed to fit the 2005-2010 GT, 2008-2009 Bullitt, and 2007-2010 Shelby GT500 Mustangs.

Technical Note: Americanmuscle recommends adding the 2005+ Mustang 304 Stainless Steel Exhaust Hanger Kit from the drop down option above, to provide more strength, stability and a cleaner installed appearance. If you have a 2007 Mustang you may need the kit for correct installation.

    Pype's Violators Axle Backs

Great sound and looks at a great price. Go ahead and get the 304 polished ones. The polished mufflers really do stand out!! No drone what so ever. I put them on a 2009 GT and ended up not needing the hanger brackets recommended. I had read about a lot of fitment problems, but did not run into anything that could not be over come with a little bit of effort. Took about 1 1/2 hours total install time.

Not to loud, not to quiet

Very smooth look. Go with these SS Pypes cause you can really see your mufflers from the back and these look nice and shinny. Very easy install with just 5 bolts per side. At an idle they are a little louder than stock but nothing that would anger your neighbors at 5:30am. You get more definition of each piston as they fire is the best way to describe the sound at idle. The tone is very deep and throaty. When you step on it You'll get a very healthy growl that will bring a smile to your face and cause mothers to grab their babies and run for safty. Sound clips just don't do them justice. There is a drone below 1800 or so but they are still new and I've been told the drone will go away after about 500 miles or so.

I live in Chicago where it snows, these 304 stainless are great and holds up perfect against the weather. If you are looking for an exhaust with a deeper tone and and little more sound I would go with this. I am VERY pleased, thanks AM

    Great value!

I ordered the fully polished set. Look great! Fitment was actually fantastic and I have used Pypes products before and that is not always the case. These have a great deep tone. I would prefer a little more volume but they are great. I think these are the best bang for buck axle back available. The only complaint i had was one of the tips came scuffed. When i called american muscle i was passed off to pypes. It become annoying to deal with so i kept them as is but overall was very happy!

    Pypes polished axle back exhaust

Installed on my 2008 Mustang gt and only took about 45 minutes per side. They look and sound great. Used factory hangers and fit was fine. You will have to juggle the passenger side a little for a perfect fit.

Great look, sound, and factory fit!

The mufflers fit just like factory and the process took less than two hours from start to finish. The sound is a sharper raspy sound and is much loader than stock. I live in Germany so the car stands out over here and turns the heads of the Europeans when I drive by. Recommend these mufflers and American Muscle, thanks for delivery to the military overseas we appreciate your store and love your products.

    Just what I wanted

After months of reviewing different options I came up with this choice. Couldn't of been happier. Not to loud, just perfect. The fit was good, many reviews stated driver side fit was off. I just gave it a little help and ligned up perfectly. The only issue I had is directions said remove 4bolts,there are 5 on drivers side. I am so happy with these pipes. Just the sound I wanted. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a little bit more deeper throaty sound.

    Sweet sound

Aside from it not fitting 100 percent correctly, which could be the shop's fault, it's great. Has a really sweet muscle car tone and you won't sound like an attention addict when you hit the gas.

You get what you pay for

First hangers are not welded same direction as factory which seems strange and is probably why they are difficult to line up with rear bumper cut outs. I want mine to fit perfect and if that is you too then be prepared to spend a little extra time fighting with these but it will be wort it in the end. Second the sound is ok, better than stock but defiantly has drone. Finally the cost is great and if you would rather spend your money on something more important like coil overs or supercharger then these will work fine

    Beautiful looking mufflers

A while back I bought Pypes axle back muffler deletes but after a year the noise and vibrations were starting to drive me crazy. These polished Pypes Violator series sound great, look great and didn't break the bank to purchase either. Thanks American Muscle for your great delivery service too.

    Pypes Violators

I finally got a chance to install the Violators last night and I must say I love the way they look and sound. This car is my daily driver and I didn't want it to be obnoxiously loud. They new mufflers look awesome on the car now (or under) and the fit and finish is excellent, I just had to do a little bending on the back hanger of the right muffler to get it centered. Installation wasn't bad at all. The left side is a little trickier but just requires patience since there's a couple bolts to the forward hanger that are awkward to get at. I did the installation in about two hours maybe, and this was with me on the ground with the back of the car hanging over the slope of the driveway. There is a little drone at around 1500 RPMs (I have 3.73s) which is not bothersome because seldom am I in that rev range for any amount of time. They definitely give the car a deeper and meaner sound when at idle and on acceleration.

Put a smile on the wife's face! NICE

AM was out of stock and I put my name on their email notification list. Received the email on Monday, placed order on Tuesday, order shipped Wednesday and arrived on Friday. FREE SHIPPING and excellent price. Took about 1.5 hours after I started the install. I looked everything over closely before starting and looked at a couple of you tube videos. I was amazed at how simple removing the stock exhaust was. I had both completely off in about 20 minutes. The key is to use a ratchet and socket on the 13mm bolts where you can and use a closed end ratchet wrench on the others. Without the ratchet feature it would take much longer. I have some home made 2 x 10 wood ramps that get the car off the ground 6 inches and that was the perfect height to access the mufflers. The main bottom board is 5ft long, the second board is 4ft, then 3ft and the final top board is 2ft. I tapered the front edge of each and put a final 3inch wide fifth board at the back for a stop. Count the number of steps as you drive back on them and then feel the final stop. Easy, low cost and SAFE. The Pypes looked good out of the box. I was surprised that the body had a higher polish than the tips? I plan to try and polish the tips as I have some time. The install went very smooth. Note that the forward bracket on the right (passenger side) has two bolts and the one on the left (Drivers side) has three. I missed one on the left which did not take long to figure out trying to remove the original muffler. Also the rear hanger bars on the Pypes face backwards compared to the factory mufflers. Looks wrong at first but as simple as sliding the hangers on from the other direction. They look GREAT! You can actually slide the stock Ford muffler tip inside the larger Pypes tip. They fit perfect, just very slight tweaking to make them match in the openings and look right. The sound is actually much more quiet inside with the windows up than I expected. These cars are insulated very well. My wife did a drive by and they are awesome. Much nicer than stock. When accelerating they come alive and when stopping and down shifting they are pretty loud. Just cruising at 55 to 75 they are just a notch about stock with zero drone. For the money I don't think you can do any better.

    Nice Setup

Put these on in about 30 minutes, did not need the hanger kit at all. Very nice sound, there is a slight drone on the highway, but thats what happens when you go louder. I think it may die off after a litte carbon buildup in there.

Now that is what it should sound like

Great product and sound. Easy to install. I wondered if you could actually see that much of a polished muffler and the answer is yes! Looks great. As far as a 2009 is concerned, you do not need the hanger kit. Your stock hangers will work no problem. And as always SUPER customer service from American Muscle!!!!
