Maximize Your Power. Give your engine a breath of fresh air with the Spectre Performance Cold Air Intake. Replacing the restrictive stock air box, this Cold Air Intake was designed to direct cooler, denser into your combustion chamber, giving your engine the oxygen it needs to unleash its true power potential.

No Tune Required. This Spectre Cold Air Intake is designed to improve the performance of your V6 powered Mustang without the need of reprogramming your computer. By utilizing flow dynamics, this Spectre Intake will increase power using the factory tune. Even though a re-tune is not required for operation, AmericanMuscle recommends a custom tune to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) to get the best possible performance from this intake.

Synthetic Air Filter. The Spectre Performance 9929 Cold Air Intake eliminates the need to buy new air filters all the time. The included non-woven synthetic filter is washable and completely reusable.

Durable Build. With heavy-duty polished aluminum tubing, a black powder coated heat shield and hardcore stainless steel clamps, the Spectre Cold Air Intake is designed to stand up to whatever you throw at it, whether it's screaming around the track or hitting the open road.

Quick and Easy Installation. Designed to be a direct fit replacement for the factory intake, this Spectre Cold Air Intake installs with just basic hand tools. No extra modifications or special tools are required for an easy 1 hour installation. All necessary parts and instructions are included.

90 Day Warranty. Spectre warrants their products to be free from manufacturer’s defects due to workmanship and material for a period of 90 days. Some exclusions or limitations may apply, please see manufacturer's warranty for complete details.

CARB Certified. The Spectre Cold Air Intake outperforms other intake systems in every state, thanks to its 50-state CARB certification. That means V6 owners can enjoy more bolt-on power in states with CARB restrictions like California, without worry. CARB EO Number: D-629-13.

Application. This polished Spectre Performance Cold Air Intake is designed to fit all 2011-2014 Mustangs equipped with the 3.7L V6 engine.

When its time to clean the filter, do you have to remove/ loosen pretty much everything? Ive read some of these u have to. thanks

        • When you got to clean the filter on this Spectre Cold Air Intake, simple loosen the clamp around the intake and remove from the vehicle. Clean separately from all other components of the motor and wait for the filter to dry. Once dried, place back on the intake assembly and tighten down the clamp.

Will this cai give the approximate gains as, say, the jlt or the bbk units? And will a tune boost performance with this product or just on the "other more expensive brands"?

        • Depending at which particular JLT and BBK units you are looking it, the approximate gains of this Spectre Performance Cold Air Intake without a tune will approximately the same (about 10hp). With a tune, this intake along with other intakes will perform at a higher efficiency.

Really quick install, unsure if it has added any horsepower, I have yet to dyno the car before and after. The only trouble I had was with the massive heat shield

            Cold air intake

Overall the product is good, super easy install, takes less than an hour. All the parts fit well placement wise, one of the clamps that was delivered in the box was no good so I would have some extra on hand just to be safe. I did notice a bit of a difference after the install and am happy with the product over all. The hood won’t close properly after the install due to the think weatherstripping on the heat shield but after day two it flattened out and hood returned to being flush with the rest of the car.

            Looks good

Product seems solid, although I was missing a clamp and had to reuse once from stock intake as well as sheared a few bolts during installation, which made the process much longer. Overall, I’m satisfied with the product despite the challenges.

Wish I spent a little more on something quality

I got this during a sale for what I figured was a pretty good deal. First, the good: I can definitely notice slightly better throttle response, when you open it up at 3.5-4k rpm it there's a noticeably deeper engine growl, and the intake whistle is pretty fun to listen to. The fit, however was pretty atrocious. Maybe I just received a defective pipe. I had already ripped out my stock intake system and had fit in the filter housing and assembled everything else when I noticed the pipe that connects between the short piece that connects to the throttle body and the filter housing was totally bent at one end. Looking at it head on was more of an oval shape than a round, flush fit - it wouldn't go into the coupling at all. I worked it for over an hour to get it to a point where it would fit in the coupling, then clamped it down and figured it would be okay - and everything was fine for about a week. About a week later I was driving down the road and came to a stop light when my car just literally died. I started it again and it started chugging then died again. When I got it to the side of the road and popped the hood I noticed that that joint had snapped off and the intake tubing was just floating around freely under the hood. After I replaced the stock system it ran perfectly again. Definitely recommend doing some research and buying quality. I guess it's possible mine was a defect, but you get what you pay for.

Spectre intake on 2014 Mustang V6. Install took only 20 min. CAI gives the car great throttle response, great sound at mid to high RPM’s, and a nice increase in HP. Def a great improvement. I highly recommend this Mod.

Might be good to throw an extra band or two

Item is exactly what I’d expect at this price range. Quality is decent had to add the cushioned trim which anyone can do only issue I came accross was as I was tightening the very last band my bad luck had to strike and realized it was defective. It’s a common issue so not going to hold it against my review. All in all it looks clean and does the job just fine.

            Sounds Great!

Wasn't as easy as others stated to install, but still wasn't that bad. Sounds beefier and I can feel the difference. Great addition. One of the clamps broke while I was installing it. I contacted Spectre directly and the sent me a complete set of clamps at no charge. Awesome customer service! Would recommend it to anyone.

            Incorrect Instruction Video

The product performs well and looks great. My throttle response opened up immediately and my car no longer starts to resist me around 4500 rpm. It looks great and the install was easy enough to do in a 1 car garage. The only difficulties I had with the install were removing the scoop that mounts inside the bumper, because the two clips are oddly placed and difficult to actuate simultaneously, and replacing it with the powder coated shield simply because it's a kinda tight fit. I like the tight fit on that though, it leads me to believe it's performing properly and that's supported for me by the fact that I regularly pop the hood after a bit of driving and can feel a temp difference between the components on either side. I run cats but no mufflers so it gave me a little chop and a kinda nifty little whistle that apparently attracts cops (2 speeding tickets since the install, dont be like me). The couplings are a little tight but that's probably a good thing because the clamps are just a tad loose. I can still adjust the aluminum tubing within the couplings and find that I occasionally have to. As for airflow, it's great and honestly even a little too open at times. A tune will probably help that, and I mean to install one, but I get a little bit of lugging under load. That's kinda my fault. I have two real complaints with the kit. The first is AM's video. The vast majority of it is awesome and it's great to have while doing the install but they got a thing wrong and I followed that instruction as well. The video recommends using the stock pcv hose (9:30), which I don't believe to be correct. The supplied 5/8" hose seems to be what everyone who posted pictures used for that and step 17 of the written instructions confirms that to be the proper way to install that. I believe that to be the cause of the lugging I mentioned as the factory hose doesnt have anything to clip to and doesnt make a good seal. My other complaint is Spectre's customer support. The instructions say to contact them directly with any issues. I don't recall being alarmed that anything was missing but I also have a habit of overdoing things and feel like I would have used the new hose anyway. I also haven't thrown anything away from the install yet, the stock part and paperwork are all still in the original box, and I can't find the hose that was meant to come with the kit so I emailed Spectre to see what their policy on replacing the hose would be. I've emailed them twice over the last 3 days and have yet to hear back from them. In short, the part is great, the video is slightly wrong but wrong in a way that's caused me problems, the install is easy but you should use the written instructions as law and the video for reference, and Spectre does a better job of making parts than answering emails.

            cold air intake

There are some differences in the installation that is on the u tube video and what I got. the rubber was not around the shroud, but that was easily solved. the printed instructions are not as clear as they could be as far as which parts go where, but the video was a major help. All in all, it looks great and has added horse power to the car. Did find that I was one part short, missing one screw for the mass air sensor. found one that would work in my collection of screws.
