    Review & Installation Video

Justin: Hi everyone, Justin with AmericanMuscle.com with Paul from the Bama Performance Team here to talk to you about the benefits of using the Bama SF4 Flash Tuner loaded with the custom Bama V2 Performance and Race Tune on your '05 to '10 three valve GT. Now, Paul, obviously the main benefit or purpose of using an aftermarket Tune is to make your car faster. How is the Bama Tune going to help in that regard? Paul: When we're calibrating a vehicle, we've got completely different expectations and regulations than the factory, and the OEMs leave a lot on the table, and there's just a lot for us to do. So we're modifying the fuel maps, spark maps, a complete reconfiguration of the drive by wire systems. And for the automatic guys we do a whole new shift schedule map, torque converter changes as well. Justin: Very nice, and now we're doing the Performance and we're also doing the Race Tune. Can you explain the differences between the two? Paul: Correct. Our Performance V2 Tune is really designed for that daily driver or the weekend warrior to offer a seamless blend of driveability and maximum power whereas our Race Tune, that's pretty much maximum power, maximum torque leaving nothing on the table with really aggressive throttle response, really aggressive shift schedules; for the automatic owners, really sensitive throttle, pretty much disabling all of the torque management and some other additional modifications that we make. Justin: Very cool, very cool. And what Paul didn't mention, of course, is that with Bama's Free Tunes for Life, as your car's modifications grow, Paul and his team will write a new Tune for each and every mod so that you can get the most performance out of your setup. So Paul's going to get out of here for now. I'm going to talk a little bit more about the benefits of the actual SF4 Tuner itself, but then we're going to run the car, the '07 GT behind me, and we'll see what kind of numbers you can expect. Breaking down the Tuner itself, you can see the SF4 does feature a compact and sleek design with a rather large full color LCD screen. Now, that screen is fully customizable and offers different colors and themes available through the menu. Now, another nice thing with this large screen is that it does feature a landscape mode. You can even turn the Tuner sideways for a different view which is helpful during datalog sessions as I'll talk about in a minute. So why the larger screen? Well, as I just mentioned, the SF4 does feature on-screen gauges and data logging similar to what you would find on more expensive models, like the ITSX or even the SET Live Wire, for instance. Now, the on-screen gauges are fully customizable as is the layout and is capable of displaying up to eight different values at one time, including your car's air fuel ratio, boost, intake, air temperature, and RPM, just to name a few. And again, all of which can be data logged with a simple touch of a button. Other features with the SF4 do include built-in Wi-Fi which is a nice little touch allowing you to take care of this future firmware updates wirelessly. The SF4 still can hold up to 10 Tunes at one time like previous Tuners, and it is still capable of reading and clearing those diagnostic trouble codes, again, just with a simple touch of a button. Now, guys, if you do have any more questions about the SF4 itself or about the new Bama V2 Tunes, I strongly encourage you to head back to the product page at AmericanMuscle.com, if you're not there already, to read up on some more details. But more importantly, you can read up on what other three valve owners are saying about running a Bama Tune on their own ride. Now that you know a little bit more about the Bama SF4 handheld Flash Tuner, let's find out just how much power you can expect out of your '05 to 10 GT with the help of a custom Bama V2 Tune. First, I'm going to walk you through the process of uploading your Tune. Then I'm going to get Paul back in here, run the '07 GT one more time and just see what kind of numbers we can expect. First thing you're going to want to do is locate your car's OBD2 port. Now on the '05 to '10 cars, it's going to be on the left-hand portion of the dash underneath. So go ahead and plug the Tuner in and wait for it to power on. Now, once the Tuner actually powers on, you're going to want to navigate to the Tune you wish to select. Basically just hit the Okay button a few times to make sure the key is on. Then we're going to go ahead and upload our Bama Race Tune. We'll select that one. It loads it, and then basically from there you're just going to follow the directions listed on the screen here, and you should be good to go. Now if you guys should have any questions or problems about uploading your Tune here with your '05 to '10 GT, don't hesitate to reach out to a Bama tuning expert. So with our baseline run already in the books and the Tune uploaded, Paul's going to hop back in the '07 GT here, make another hit on the Dynojet just to see what kind of numbers you guys can expect with your ride. Our baseline run with our 2007 GT gave us 269 horsepower and 296 pound feet of torque at the rear wheels. With the Bama Tune uploaded, the corners now making 283 horsepower and 310 pound feet of torque at the rear wheels which makes for a peak gain of 14 horsepower over those baseline numbers and gains of 17 horsepower and 18 pound feet of torque throughout the curve. All the bolt-ons in the world won't do anything for you or your ride without a quality Tune to bring it all together. So if you're looking to truly maximize the performance of your '05 to '10 three valve GT, then you're going to want to check out a Bama S4 Tuner loaded with the BAma V2 custom Tunes here at AmericanMuscle.com.

    The Gears

Improve ET's and Low End Torque. Installing a set of steeper rear gears is a great way to get more low end grunt off the line and lower your ET's at the same time. Ford Racing Mustang ring and pinion gears feature a super strong forged construction, CNC cut & lapped gear teeth, and a black oxide finish to resist corrosion making them perfect for street, road, or race use. Technical Note. Installation costs will vary, but a good rule of thumb is between $250 and $300. Be sure to work with a reliable shop that you trust for installations. You can also save money on your installation labor by having your Trac-Lok rebuilt at the same time as your gears are installed, see drop down option above.

**NOTE: Programming custom tunes may take 2-3 business days plus applicable shipping time. We recommend ordering other products separately to avoid delay. Some heavily modified cars are not tunable with a mail order tune. Click for details. Increased HP and torque. From the factory, the manufacturer programs their vehicles to cater to the needs of the daily driver, not the performance enthusiast. After loading the custom Bama Tune on a vehicle, even a bone stock, unmodified Mustang will realize noticeable gains in HP, Torque, and Fuel Economy.

Increase your mod's potential. Factory computer settings are calibrated for the original factory components. When making performance modifications, you need to recalibrate the vehicle's computer to realize the full potential that these modifications can achieve.

Free tunes for life! Every customer that purchases a tuner is enrolled in the "Free tunes for life" program. Any time that you make additional mods to your vehicle, our team of SCT certified Bama Custom Tuners will create new tunes for you.

Custom Bama Tunes specific to your vehicle. When you order a tuner, you aren't just getting a tuner - you are getting the tuner and 2 dyno-tested custom Bama tunes:

    • Performance V2 (87-93 Octane) - The Performance Tune offers a seamless blend of power, performance and drive-ability. Improving the overall driving experience of your Mustang, the Bama Performance Tune improves vehicle acceleration, increases power throughout the entire RPM and improves throttle response with revised timing, fuel, and VCT maps. Automatic equipped vehicles offer an aggressive shifting map to provide more aggressive transmission settings. This tune is suggested for the aggressive daily driver that is looking for more "get up and go".

    • Race V2 (91-93 Octane, E85, Race Fuel) - The Race Tune is designed for maximum performance and ensures the largest increase in vehicle performance. Using the highest grade of fuel available in your area is mandatory as timing, VCT, fuel, and throttle response settings are very aggressive. Automatic transmission settings implement entirely new shift points, torque converter changes and firmness settings designed for Track use.

Nitrous (91, 93, E85, Race Fuel) - Our nitrous option can be added to any of our previously mentioned tune options, but only for 91, 93, E85, or Race Fuel.

Technical Note About Fuel. Use of E85 will require larger fuel injectors such as Injector Dynamics ID1300 or Ford Racing 47lb/hr Injectors. Unleaded race fuel can also be used, but Stoichiometric points must be supplied.

Easy to load; easy to restore. Not only are the custom tunes easy to load on your vehicle, it is just as easy to restore your factory settings. When you load your custom tune on the vehicle, the tuner automatically stores your vehicle's factory settings. To return the vehicle to its factory settings, just plug the tuner back in, select the option to restore the factory settings, and you're done.

Why won’t this product work for the 2013?

        • This tuner will work on any ODBII mustang.

I have a 2008 mustang GT that has a Bama custom tuning member plate in it. I don't have the tuner, or any reliable information on the modifications made to the car before I bought it. I will be purchasing your tuner but was wondering if I provided the details on the plate and Vin number could you work out a stock cam tune and the last known tune for the cams that are in it. Thanks

        • We would recommend contacting BAMA directly to see what information may be available from the previous tunes, and what they may or may not be able to do with any information they can locate.

I have read the contents of this kit, I have watched the video, but I STILL DON'T KNOW if this kit includes the rear gear pinion bearing kit necessary for 2010 Mustang gear swaps? And this is from a person who reads, writes and interprets complex written language for a living... Also, can not find this "drop-down" menu you are talking about in the video. You warn about it being necessary all the time, yet do not state clearly if this bearing kit contains it or not. Please indicate this CLEARLY for everyone to see, it is really confusing. Apart from that (assuming the kit DOES NOT include the rear, which I seem to deduct from one of the answers for previous questions), why make a bearing kit without the most important and needed bearing? Does ANY kit you sell include this 2010 rear gear pinion bearing (maybe those big kits with bottles for 279$ or any other kits by Ford?) or the only way is to buy the bearing separately?

        • We do apologize that the listing is not clear enough. The Motive Rear End Installation and Bearing Kit does not include the Rear Gear Pinion Bearing for 2010-2014 Mustangs. The bearing is not included in the kit because the kit is designed for 1986-2014 Mustangs, and it is not necessary for the majority of the years this kit works on. It is included in the Gear Combo Kits for the 2010-2014 GT and 2011-2014 V6 Mustangs found here: https://www.americanmuscle.com/2010-mustang-gears.html#shop-by7

I am running ford performance cams and cold air intake. Will this tuner tune my car correctly?

        • The Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner can utilize a Bama Performance tune for camshafts and a cold air intake.

with the 93 octane tune will I have to run 93 octane gas?

        • Yes, with a 93 octane tune with the Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner you would need to run 93 octane. If you are worried about not being able to find 93 octane you can request a 91 octane tune and run 93 when you can find it. You can run a higher octane but never lower.

            Review from Ford Performance Ring Gear and Pinion Kit - 4.10 Gears (11-14 V6; 86-14 V8, Excluding 13-14 GT500)

            '14 v6 manual

Coming from 2.73 to the 4.10, what I've noticed is my shifts are smoother my City Driving has better fuel mileage my highway driving is the same to a wee bit worse. My quarter mile came from 14.6@100mph to 14.2@101mph. As for rubber on the road I chirp in 4th, Redline a donut in 2nd., can make a circle but it's defiently a workout in 3rd. I installed these gears myself following the guidelines and documentation of poor performance themselves. It wasn't as bad as everybody told me it was going to be mind you I did prepare myself and acquired all the proper tooling. I later then did take the car to professional mechanic who I do trust and he went over my work measure the tolerances, painted the gears, and asked me if I wanted a job. The only problem I have and I'm looking forward to seeing if anybody else has noticed this but with my transmission and being Canadian here at all anyting over 160 kilometers a hour my rear end vibrates a lot, I do not know if this is driveshaft or the differential and gear set. What makes me think it might be driveshaft is the fact that, I've simply never turn the driveshaft that fast before., with the 2.73 gears I've never made it to 6 without burying the needle at 260 in 4th. All in all I think they're great set of gears fuel mileage hogwash is definitely a myth in the newer cars with all the magic Pixies in the gizmos running the show. The only thing I would suggest is to not go to a 4.10 with my transmission having the single overdrive gear, I feel the 5 liter transmission with the Dual overdrive gear Well help this 4.10 be more of a daily gear set.

            Great gear for around town

Im still somewhat breaking in the gears, but so far I like them quite a bit. Combined with a torsen diff, the car doesnt feel like its being overworked anymore, and i can use 5th around town so i doubt ill lose any mileage. These cars should have come with 4.10s from the factory, to make up for the lack of low end torque. Install was a PITA, but there is no gear noise whatsoever, and it feels tight. Definitely recommend for an N/A mustang

Review from Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 2 Custom Tunes (05-10 GT, Bullitt)

            Definitely feel the difference

With roush intake and outlaw exhaust on my 2009 GT, and custom tune from bama, it gives my car a "power band" at around 3500rpm. Throttle is much more responsive if not a little "touchy". This combo gives me all the power I could ever want. Highly recommend.

Review from Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 2 Custom Tunes (05-10 GT, Bullitt)

            Easy to use!

At first I was a little confused about the whole request a tune program and everything, but if you buy this one you get free tunes for life and they can update your tunes if you have any new mods. If you ever have questions call them up and they will explain it so easily! Great Job to SCT for making a huge improvement since the last tuner and great job BAMA/ American Muscle for the awesome product! I am not disappointed!!

            Works great

Had them installed and work great. My mustang is lifted 8 inches and sits on 33s. This is exactly what I needed to keep the trans from burning up

Awesome tune, woke the car right up!

Performs exactly as I expected it to. Really woke my Mustang up and gave it some serious low end-torque. Much more throttle response too. Tuners can be a bit expensive but I definitely feel it was worth it and would definitely recommend to any Mustang owner, no matter if you have mods or not!

The Bama X4/SF4 Flash Tuner and the computer programs just make my 09 GT come to life and puts you back in the seat enjoying the ride and power. Never knew it had this much hidden power.

This is one of the most complete rebuild kits I have seen on the market. My dad always told me not to do anything halfway. Go all the way and do a good job.

Review from Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 2 Custom Tunes (05-10 GT, Bullitt)

            Super cool, took some practice

I installed a tune on my slightly modded 2005 GT with a ROUSH CAI and experienced some major changes in performance, some good some bad: Pros: -MAJOR increase in acceleration and overall power, especially between 30 and 60 mph -Ability to clear DTC codes is awesome -Every single setting can be tweaked -Very well built device and the screen is very responsive and clean Cons: -Takes a major learning curve -Recommend getting a custom tune sent to you -My first install of the performance tune setting caused the car to lurch insanely quick with hardly ANY throttle input which made it virtually unusable in my neighborhood and parking lots... -Some settings (on my car at least) when tweaked will throw DTC codes including check engine, not sure if this is really a negative just something to be aware of, for me I changed the idle RPM setting a little higher and it constantly throws codes Overall I’m still experimenting with tweaking some settings on the device itself, I’m sure downloading a custom tune would be much easier but I am apparently missing an important number in the engine bay needed to link to my car in order to send a custom tune for the vehicle. It’s well built and super responsive and useful. Bang for your buck depends on what you want it for. Clearing DTC codes only? Buy a cheaper unit. Want to tune your ride in every possible way, this is pretty awesome.

            4.10 Gear Install

I ordered the 4.10 Ford Performance Gears because I heard you could just swap the old gears out for the new gears. It went better then I originally thought. Like it says online, I just reused the original shims and everything came into spec. Highly recommended. Thanks American Muscle.
