Review & Installation Video

Justin: Hi everyone, Justin with AmericanMuscle.com with Paul from the Bama Performance Team here to talk to you about the benefits of using the Bama SF4 Flash Tuner loaded with the custom Bama V2 Performance and Race Tune on your '05 to '10 three valve GT. Now, Paul, obviously the main benefit or purpose of using an aftermarket Tune is to make your car faster. How is the Bama Tune going to help in that regard? Paul: When we're calibrating a vehicle, we've got completely different expectations and regulations than the factory, and the OEMs leave a lot on the table, and there's just a lot for us to do. So we're modifying the fuel maps, spark maps, a complete reconfiguration of the drive by wire systems. And for the automatic guys we do a whole new shift schedule map, torque converter changes as well. Justin: Very nice, and now we're doing the Performance and we're also doing the Race Tune. Can you explain the differences between the two? Paul: Correct. Our Performance V2 Tune is really designed for that daily driver or the weekend warrior to offer a seamless blend of driveability and maximum power whereas our Race Tune, that's pretty much maximum power, maximum torque leaving nothing on the table with really aggressive throttle response, really aggressive shift schedules; for the automatic owners, really sensitive throttle, pretty much disabling all of the torque management and some other additional modifications that we make. Justin: Very cool, very cool. And what Paul didn't mention, of course, is that with Bama's Free Tunes for Life, as your car's modifications grow, Paul and his team will write a new Tune for each and every mod so that you can get the most performance out of your setup. So Paul's going to get out of here for now. I'm going to talk a little bit more about the benefits of the actual SF4 Tuner itself, but then we're going to run the car, the '07 GT behind me, and we'll see what kind of numbers you can expect. Breaking down the Tuner itself, you can see the SF4 does feature a compact and sleek design with a rather large full color LCD screen. Now, that screen is fully customizable and offers different colors and themes available through the menu. Now, another nice thing with this large screen is that it does feature a landscape mode. You can even turn the Tuner sideways for a different view which is helpful during datalog sessions as I'll talk about in a minute. So why the larger screen? Well, as I just mentioned, the SF4 does feature on-screen gauges and data logging similar to what you would find on more expensive models, like the ITSX or even the SET Live Wire, for instance. Now, the on-screen gauges are fully customizable as is the layout and is capable of displaying up to eight different values at one time, including your car's air fuel ratio, boost, intake, air temperature, and RPM, just to name a few. And again, all of which can be data logged with a simple touch of a button. Other features with the SF4 do include built-in Wi-Fi which is a nice little touch allowing you to take care of this future firmware updates wirelessly. The SF4 still can hold up to 10 Tunes at one time like previous Tuners, and it is still capable of reading and clearing those diagnostic trouble codes, again, just with a simple touch of a button. Now, guys, if you do have any more questions about the SF4 itself or about the new Bama V2 Tunes, I strongly encourage you to head back to the product page at AmericanMuscle.com, if you're not there already, to read up on some more details. But more importantly, you can read up on what other three valve owners are saying about running a Bama Tune on their own ride. Now that you know a little bit more about the Bama SF4 handheld Flash Tuner, let's find out just how much power you can expect out of your '05 to 10 GT with the help of a custom Bama V2 Tune. First, I'm going to walk you through the process of uploading your Tune. Then I'm going to get Paul back in here, run the '07 GT one more time and just see what kind of numbers we can expect. First thing you're going to want to do is locate your car's OBD2 port. Now on the '05 to '10 cars, it's going to be on the left-hand portion of the dash underneath. So go ahead and plug the Tuner in and wait for it to power on. Now, once the Tuner actually powers on, you're going to want to navigate to the Tune you wish to select. Basically just hit the Okay button a few times to make sure the key is on. Then we're going to go ahead and upload our Bama Race Tune. We'll select that one. It loads it, and then basically from there you're just going to follow the directions listed on the screen here, and you should be good to go. Now if you guys should have any questions or problems about uploading your Tune here with your '05 to '10 GT, don't hesitate to reach out to a Bama tuning expert. So with our baseline run already in the books and the Tune uploaded, Paul's going to hop back in the '07 GT here, make another hit on the Dynojet just to see what kind of numbers you guys can expect with your ride. Our baseline run with our 2007 GT gave us 269 horsepower and 296 pound feet of torque at the rear wheels. With the Bama Tune uploaded, the corners now making 283 horsepower and 310 pound feet of torque at the rear wheels which makes for a peak gain of 14 horsepower over those baseline numbers and gains of 17 horsepower and 18 pound feet of torque throughout the curve. All the bolt-ons in the world won't do anything for you or your ride without a quality Tune to bring it all together. So if you're looking to truly maximize the performance of your '05 to '10 three valve GT, then you're going to want to check out a Bama S4 Tuner loaded with the BAma V2 custom Tunes here at AmericanMuscle.com.

The Gears

Improve ET's and Low End Torque. Installing a set of steeper rear gears is a great way to get more low end grunt off the line and lower your ET's at the same time. Ford Racing Mustang ring and pinion gears feature a super strong forged construction, CNC cut & lapped gear teeth, and a black oxide finish to resist corrosion making them perfect for street, road, or race use. Technical Note. Installation costs will vary, but a good rule of thumb is between $250 and $300. Be sure to work with a reliable shop that you trust for installations. You can also save money on your installation labor by having your Trac-Lok rebuilt at the same time as your gears are installed, see drop down option above.

Increased HP and torque. From the factory, the manufacturer programs their vehicles to cater to the needs of the daily driver, not the performance enthusiast. After loading the custom Bama Tune on a vehicle, even a bone stock, unmodified Mustang will realize noticeable gains in HP, Torque, and Fuel Economy.

Increase your mod's potential. Factory computer settings are calibrated for the original factory components. When making performance modifications, you need to recalibrate the vehicle's computer to realize the full potential that these modifications can achieve.

Free tunes for life! Every customer that purchases a tuner is enrolled in the "Free tunes for life" program. Any time that you make additional mods to your vehicle, our team of SCT certified Bama Custom Tuners will create new tunes for you.

Custom Bama Tunes specific to your vehicle. When you order a tuner, you aren't just getting a tuner - you are getting the tuner and 2 dyno-tested custom Bama tunes:

  • Performance V2 (87-93 Octane) - The Performance Tune offers a seamless blend of power, performance and drive-ability. Improving the overall driving experience of your Mustang, the Bama Performance Tune improves vehicle acceleration, increases power throughout the entire RPM and improves throttle response with revised timing, fuel, and VCT maps. Automatic equipped vehicles offer an aggressive shifting map to provide more aggressive transmission settings. This tune is suggested for the aggressive daily driver that is looking for more "get up and go".

  • Race V2 (91-93 Octane, E85, Race Fuel) - The Race Tune is designed for maximum performance and ensures the largest increase in vehicle performance. Using the highest grade of fuel available in your area is mandatory as timing, VCT, fuel, and throttle response settings are very aggressive. Automatic transmission settings implement entirely new shift points, torque converter changes and firmness settings designed for Track use.

Nitrous (91, 93, E85, Race Fuel) - Our nitrous option can be added to any of our previously mentioned tune options, but only for 91, 93, E85, or Race Fuel.

Technical Note About Fuel. Use of E85 will require larger fuel injectors such as Injector Dynamics ID1300 or Ford Racing 47lb/hr Injectors. Unleaded race fuel can also be used, but Stoichiometric points must be supplied.

Easy to load; easy to restore. Not only are the custom tunes easy to load on your vehicle, it is just as easy to restore your factory settings. When you load your custom tune on the vehicle, the tuner automatically stores your vehicle's factory settings. To return the vehicle to its factory settings, just plug the tuner back in, select the option to restore the factory settings, and you're done.

I have a 2008 mustang GT that has a Bama custom tuning member plate in it. I don't have the tuner, or any reliable information on the modifications made to the car before I bought it. I will be purchasing your tuner but was wondering if I provided the details on the plate and Vin number could you work out a stock cam tune and the last known tune for the cams that are in it. Thanks

  • We would recommend contacting BAMA directly to see what information may be available from the previous tunes, and what they may or may not be able to do with any information they can locate.

I have read the contents of this kit, I have watched the video, but I STILL DON'T KNOW if this kit includes the rear gear pinion bearing kit necessary for 2010 Mustang gear swaps? And this is from a person who reads, writes and interprets complex written language for a living... Also, can not find this "drop-down" menu you are talking about in the video. You warn about it being necessary all the time, yet do not state clearly if this bearing kit contains it or not. Please indicate this CLEARLY for everyone to see, it is really confusing. Apart from that (assuming the kit DOES NOT include the rear, which I seem to deduct from one of the answers for previous questions), why make a bearing kit without the most important and needed bearing? Does ANY kit you sell include this 2010 rear gear pinion bearing (maybe those big kits with bottles for 279$ or any other kits by Ford?) or the only way is to buy the bearing separately?

MattK

  • We do apologize that the listing is not clear enough. The Motive Rear End Installation and Bearing Kit does not include the Rear Gear Pinion Bearing for 2010-2014 Mustangs. The bearing is not included in the kit because the kit is designed for 1986-2014 Mustangs, and it is not necessary for the majority of the years this kit works on. It is included in the Gear Combo Kits for the 2010-2014 GT and 2011-2014 V6 Mustangs found here: https://www.americanmuscle.com/2010-mustang-gears.html#shop-by7

  • The Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner can be used to install custom tunes as well as restore the car to the stock tune, provided that the stock tune is on the vehicle when the tuner is first used.

Description suggests 17 RWHP and 18 ft-lb's using the tuner....description for Tuner and Airaid CAI list the same 17 RWHP and 18 ft-lb's....AM catalog show Tune and CAI as 35hp....confused. Can you comment?

  • Hello! We will work to get that conflicting information corrected. The combination of the Airaid Race CAI and BAMA X4 Tuner will yield gains of up to 35 HP and 30 TQ.

    Review from Ford Performance Ring Gear and Pinion Kit - 4.10 Gears (11-14 V6; 86-14 V8, Excluding 13-14 GT500)

    From 3:27 to 3:73 & now 4:10

Hey everyone I had purchased the 3:73 last year and was amazed from the difference. Well, here I am again and I had the 4:10 installed. Woooooowwww what a difference, The car moves like a rocket. One thing though I can\'t stay in first gear to long because after 2 seconds from the take off you would have too shift into 2nd. It\'s great I tell you, Just remember for every one gear you upgrade, it increases your rpm\'s by 200, but aslong as you have a stick, your 5th or 6th gear would bring your rpm\'s down to about 1400. This gear is truly a must have.

FRPP 4.10 Gears for 2001 Mustang GT

I love these gears! They really wake up the car. I got decent gas mileage 2! I have a 2001 Mustang GT with the AT and it was running 2800 rpms at 75 mph. That equalled out to 22 mpg not too shabby for the performance gain. The LT1 Camaro I ran hated them since he did see the stangs taillights!! Would reccommend these to anyone wanting to drag their car.

    Pay for it now

Even if you send the car to the shop to get it rebuild, you are much better off buying this kit then paying for parts. I was quoted a $900 installation + parts for redoing my rear gears. So I purchased the parts and lube here in American Muscle and only paid for labor which was only $360, so I ended up saving $275.

    2005 GT 5sp

These offer a great "bang for the buck". They work great with a 5 speed, and are NOT too much gear. I did alot of research before pulling the trigger on these. Seems like there was always some bunk-hole saying "don't do 4.10's your top end will be 50mph and you will get 4mpg!" Hogwash. There is a 400 RPM increase in 5th gear @ 70mph over the stock 3.55's. Acceleration in ALL gears is improved. The car will now pull 5th much easier and is out of "drone" range while cruising. My MPG's around town/mixed driving improved by about 1mpg, while highway MPG dropped by about 1. You will need to have a handheld tuner to adjust the spedo for the new gears or else your spedo will be off. I had them installed at a shop for $300. When installed properly, these gears make NO noise. Ford really should make these an option in addition to 3.73's.

Review from Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 2 Custom Tunes (05-10 GT, Bullitt)

IMPORTANT. Do not use tunes through Bama!

Do NOT order this product if you're looking for a professional and experienced group of tuners. Before I begin, I'd like to emphasize that this review is STRICTLY directed towards Bama Performance and not American Muscle. So I ordered this product and was very thorough with my parts list and what type of computer my car used. When I flashed the tune, I expected my car to run fairly decently. This was not the case. On the RARE occasion that my car actually started, it ran so rough that I could not even make it to the end of my driveway without thinking my motor was about to blow. I contacted them and they said that they accidentally wrote my tunes for the wrong vehicle computer and would send me more. When I received the new tunes, I flashed them and expected all problems to be fixed. Wrong. With either tune flashed, my car would not even START. Immediately stalled upon firing up every time. If I was able to get into gear fast enough, it would stall every time I shifted into neutral. Then Bama asks me to DATALOG when my car won't even START. What?! I've worked with many tuners and done data logging with many different softwares and have a great amount of experience with this. When I told them this problem, they said that I had to find a way to datalog for them to solve the issue. So I did my best to get them the best data log I could, logging all necessary stats in both forms, including PIDs. They said I did not log what they needed and I'd need to log again. I called and asked for a refund and told them I would send back the tuner because my car ran better on a factory ECU than with any of the 4-6 tunes that they had sent me. The answer I got? "Sorry we cannot take back the tuner since we put time and labor into producing those tunes for you." MY CAR WONT EVEN RUN WITH ANY OF YOUR TUNES. I decided I was going to pay an additional $600 for a local dyno tune so they would not blow my car up. Do not run tunes from Bama Performance if you care about the longevity and well being of your vehicle.

    Review from Ford Performance Ring Gear and Pinion Kit - 4.10 Gears (11-14 V6; 86-14 V8, Excluding 13-14 GT500)

    Great for Manual!!

First of alll- I would have been disappointed with anything less that 4.10's matched with my T45R. They stopped my car from just making a lot of noise and made it pull nicely in any gear. Performance and Traction- With my 275 Tires w/ Maximum Motorsports Lower and FRPP Upper control arms really breaking loose usually has to be intentional.... and trust me its nice to only go all "dukes of hazard" if you meant to do so. But for the serious drag racers reading this, some drag radials are recommended to really hook and clock some good 60's. I say that because vs. stock gears I didn't see any time off my 1/8mile(just a few more mph on the speedo). They may not unintentionally smoke the tiers on the street but they can be tricky to hook when every tenth is precious. MPG and RPM's- Well I don't drive a lot of highway and have actually scene and slight mpg boost on average. If I do go on the highway and do a few 4th gear pulls and go like 70-80mpg the whole time I can pretty much watch the fuel gauge drop to "E". But if you can cruise below 65 (2600+/- RPM) than its not too bad for local stuff.

    Review from Ford Performance Ring Gear and Pinion Kit - 4.10 Gears (11-14 V6; 86-14 V8, Excluding 13-14 GT500)

    2008 GT/CS

i have numerous bolt-ons but the 4.10's are by far my best investment. It wakes up your car when you want it to but isn's too much for a daily driver. The description claims to reduce your gas mileage but mine increased somehow, which makes no sense considering i accelerate a lot faster and a lot more often. I recommend having them installed by a shop. i have a buddy who is a mechanic and he had trouble doing some at his work and had to call over help. The highway driving isn't bad. The car will hum a lot louder on the highway but if you punch it'll throw you back. First gear is pretty powerful, Second is great, and once you hit third at full throttle you are happy you bought them! I strongly recommend these especially if you want to mess around with other mustangs because they just cant keep up once you have the new gears.

    Review from Motive Rear End Installation and Bearing Kit - 8.8 in. (11-14 V6; 86-14 V8, Excluding 13-14 GT500)

did what it was supposed to...

well, its a bearing kit- no frills to it i guess. I wish there had been a larger selection of new shims to use- there seemed to be only 2 sizes if i remember correctly, so you have to use a larger stack of shims, as opposed to a few thicker shims... not that it really makes a diference i guess. it also comes with a kick a$$ motive bearing sticker for your tool box... oh, and the directions for how to re seal the cover were wrong... My instructions are to take that gasket in your hand, and sling it into the front yard as hard as you can- then go get some good rtv and put a bead on the case... those gaskets are worthless...

    Don't Fear the Gear

Just as the title says. I was afraid at first to put such a steep gear into my daily driver (05 GT). After the install no regrets what-so-ever. 80 mph 3k, 70 mph 2600 rpm. This should be the very first mod to every mustang period. Thanks American Muscle!

    4.10

GET THESE is all I can say about this. Awsome performance, very noticable with little effect on gas mileage. These gears are perfect for my 07 GT, go with these you wont regret it

    4.10 = fun

Love these gears. Big difference from my 3.31. I still get decent gas mileage too in my 06 GT auto.
