    Hey, I'm Justin with, and this is my brief overview of BBK's long-tube headers available in ceramic or chrome, fitting all 2011 and newer V6 Mustangs. Simply put, long tube headers have been designed to replace your restrictive factory manifolds, which can really choke out the flow of exhaust. A set of long tubes paired with an aftermarket Mid Pipe and exhaust, will make for a very free-flowing exhaust setup, which can give you a nice bump in power, as well as make for one mean-sounding exhaust note. As far as price, these long tubes from BBK are an extremely reasonable option when it comes aftermarket long tubes available for the late model 3.7 L V6. Taking a closer look, these headers feature 1-in-3/4 inch mandrel-bent tubing, quality welds throughout, and laser cut flanges for an OEM-like fit. Now as I mentioned earlier, you do have the option of picking these headers up in a chrome finish, or a ceramic finish. So what are the differences between the two finishes? Well, as you can see, the chrome option are a little brighter initially, but that's going to change as these headers heat-cycle, eventually turning that bright silver into a dark copper color. On the other hand, the ceramic options are going to remain that bright silver color throughout their lifespan. Secondly, that ceramic coating is going to be slightly better at reducing underhood temps, which is very important for performance. Now those added benefits do come with a price as ceramic coated headers are typically more expensive than a chrome or stainless option. Doing the install on any set of long tubes can be a little intense, so it's best to set aside a full day or weekend just to tackle the job. Now, you might not need it, but it's always good to be prepared. Now again, if you don't feel confident enough to tackle this install, then don't hesitate to give your local shop a call, they should be able to help you out. Keep in mind, whenever you run a set of long tubes like these BBKs, you will need to address your Mid Pipe. In this case you will need to run a flanged, and shorty Mid Pipe, just to get everything installed correctly, now BBK recommends their Shorty X-Pipe for the best fitment and performance gains. In the end, what you can expect from using these long tubes from BBK is a considerable bump in both power and sound, all at a very fair price. So be sure to check them out right here at

    More Horsepower and Torque. Improve the performance of your 3.7L Ti-VCT engine with a set of BBK Long Tube Headers. These BBK Ceramic Coated Headers will greatly improve your mustangs exhaust flow over the restrictive stock manifolds and increase your Pony's horsepower and torque. Significant increases in rear wheel horsepower have been seen when installed with a matching BBK shorty X pipe.

    Silver Ceramic Coating. These Long Tube Headers are completed in BBK's Polished Silver Ceramic Coating that not only looks great, but reduce under hood temperatures to help increase horsepower and extend the life of the headers. Ceramic Coated headers will long out last both chrome plated and polished headers.

    Quality Construction. BBK Long Tube Exhaust headers are manufactured from 1-3/4" CNC mandrel bent tubing for unrestricted airflow. And feature one piece laser cut 3/8" header flanges for added strength, leak-free performance and OEM fit. These headers are then completed in a polished ceramic finish for good looks and to lower under hood temperatures.

    Recommended Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that these Long Tube Headers have to offer, AmericanMuscle recommends a Bama custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

    Additional Required S197 Upgrades. Installation of these BBK Long Tube Headers on a 2011-2014 S197 V6 Mustang will require the use of a BBK Shorty Mid-Pipe, part# 1461 or 1462 for proper installation.

    Additional Required S550 Upgrades. Installation of these BBK Long Tube Headers on a 2015-2017 S550 V6 Mustang will require the use of a BBK Shorty Mid-Pipe, part# 1465 or 14650, and a Front O2 Wire Harness Extension, part #1119, for proper installation.

    Application. These BBK Ceramic Long Tube Headers are specifically designed to fit the 2011-2017 Mustangs equipped with the 3.7L V6 engine.These Headers are intended for left hand drive applications only.

    Would these be California SMOG legal?


    • Hi, These BBK Ceramic Long Tube Headers are not legal for use on pollution controlled motor vehicles and are intended for off road use only.

    Is it required to have an xpipe to have these installed or will the stock pipes be ok?


    • The stockpipes will not fit these. You will need an aftermarket midpipe in order to fit the BBK ceramic long tube headers.

    Will it fit? Planning to buy these long tube and also Xpipe. . But I do have installed 2011-2012 Mustang V6 3.7L MagnaFlow Cat-back Exhaust (Street) Do i need to cut some tube off? Also I dont need to do anytunes? Thanks


    • Yes you need a tune thers so much air going through the exhaust it will throw off the computer. I also have the magna flow quad tip exhaust and everything fit mine just right this will make your exhaust deeper and up your horsepower big time.

    What's the difference between the BBK shorty Catted and Off Road H Pipe?


    • The difference between a catted and off road H pipe would be the high flow cats that are supplied with the shorty catted H pipe. Depending on the your state and emissions laws, going with an off road H pipe would increase the chance on failing an emission test.

    When Installing The Long Tube Headers Are There Any Modifications I Will Need To Make To The Engine?


    • Hello, depending on the year of your mustang you would be required the following: 11-14 V6's BBK Shorty Mid-Pipe, part# 1465 or 14650, and a Front O2 Wire Harness Extension, part #1119, for proper installation. 15-17 V6's BBK Shorty Mid-Pipe, part# 1465 or 14650, and a Front O2 Wire Harness Extension, part #1119, for proper installation. Also it is recommended to get the proper tune to utilize full potential.

    Putting these on a 2015, will you need both front and rear O2 extensions or just the front or back?


    • These BBK 1-3/4 in. Ceramic Long Tube Headers will require the BBK O2 Wire Harness Extension Kit, item 390801. The rear o2 bungs will remain in the same position, and only the front bungs will be moved further downstream. Therefore, only the front extensions will be required.

      These header are amazing. It sounds like hell braking loose when you get on it. It gave the car a lot more power. These headers were very easy to install. The one bad thing about it was that it came with the wrong O2 sensor extentions for two O2 sensors. So all you have to do is extend them. I suggest you do them on a lift

      Hard work, but Good Results

      Take my advice - find someone to help you. It will significantly cut the amount of time you spend installing these headers. I recommend the following: 0) Throw away the gaskets that come with this product, and buy new OEM metal multi-layer gaskets. The gaskets from BBK *will* blow out. I was lucky enough to be able to reuse my original gaskets, but I had ordered a new set - just in case. 1) Before you start the install, buy some spare exhaust studs and nuts from Ford. Changes are very good that one or more studs will back all the way out when you remove the OEM manifolds, or you'll drop a nut and won't be able to find it. I bought six studs and six nuts - just in case - and needed one stud and two nuts. 2) Use Liquid wrench or wd-40 on all of your nuts/bolts. This will lessen the chance that you'll accidentally back a stud out. 3) Make sure you have a reasonably long 22mm wrench for the O2 sensors. You need leverage to get those suckers off the OEM pipes. 4) BUY RESONATORS, especially if you're running (or plan to run) aftermarket axle-backs. If you stay with stock mufflers, it doesn't sound too bad, but stock mufflers will hold you back a little on power. 5) The offroad x-pipe is NOTABLY louder than the catted version (just a heads up because I know you have to get one or the other with your headers). I would also not get the offroad x-pipe unless you have a tuner and can turn the O2's off, or if your city/county/state is especially attentive about emissions equipment.

      Easiest Header i have EVER installed

      the hardest part of the installation was the OE studs backing out when taking the stock manifolds out. Jack stands and on my back the install (which included a cadded shorty) took about (including a beer break) 4 hrs. The install was so easy, my friends were jelouse. The performace gain is very impressive, the roar during daily driving is awsome, on long trips it can be testy but, that is what the volume knob on the radio is for, right?

      Great performance gains

      I bought these ceramic headers with a matching catted x-pipe, and I couldnt be more satsified! I re-wrote my bama custom tune with this set-up and it pulls much more, and has much more torque. One thing to make sure when finishing up with the x-pipe connection, is to push up the piping to keep it all tucked up as far as it can go. I did not do this right after the install, and the x-pipe sagged quite a bit. This took about 2 day to install becasue there were alot of screws to take on and off on the manifolds which was the time consuing part. Instructions were vauge, but is a very straight-forward install. I do recomend this product, becasue it looks great, and provides exellent performance gains (even more with a tune). I also reccomend doing this on a lift, with just jack stands it is more difficult.

      with proper prep, its easy!

      After the install, but before rehooking the mid's, start the 3.7, you will fall in love with your car all over again... It took me and my bro, a full day to do. I would suggest spraying all the old nuts and bolts the day before with wd-40 or something close, I had to cut my old H-pipe to get the stock manifold out because the 2 nuts on the connection would not come loose (I twisted a 3/8s extension in half, trying to get them loose). Also, Getting to the O2 clips was a pain, you need some small hands to fit, but once the old stuff was out of the way the new went in and lined up like its supposed to... I had some flowmaster chambered mufflers on the car but threw them away after starting the car, went and got some straight-through mufflers (cat-back system, to get rid of that oval drivers side mid-pipe) now it sounds 100%better than stock. I am very happy with the performance and sound!!

      If they fail your out your money

      Bought these in Sept 2016 when they arrived the gaskets where for a 5.7 hemi not a 3.7 ford less then a month after installed (buy a shop) a code p219b air fuel imbalance bank 2 appeared . Checked fuel system, for vacuum leaks , vvt since it's egr valve less, did a power balance test turning injectors and then spark to each individual cylinder still no fix. Contacted Bama to get tunes again just in case but that didn't work. Then installed a upstream o2 to rule out variables no change . There is a exhaust leak at the collector between the headers and catted xpipe. Emailed bbk since I still have warranty they will not replace and American muscle only carries a 30 day . So all in all out 1400 usd on a product that is now causing g my car to sputter at idle and consume more fuel . I guess they will look nice in the garbage

      Love them

      My v6 now sounds amazing, i can feel how it adds power to the car even though I'm still missing a good tune. Only thing is that the O2 sensors extensions don't fit models 2015 . So i ended up having to wait 2 more days and had to pay $100 bucks more. Other than that the car sounds amazing and really loud.

      Head over heels over my Headers!

      These BBK Ceramic Long Tube Headers are DYNAMITE! In other words... A Real Blast! I am not the least bit disappointed. Coupled with the BBK Catted X-Pipe, and Borla exhaust, my 3.7 finally feels and sounds like a real muscle car. Of course my KandN CAI and BBK 73mm throttle body don't hurt the performance either. Next, a BAMA Tune and I will be set for a while. This Mustang convertible was a compromise with my wife to give up my lifetime riding Harley's, so I could still be in the wind. But until I did the exhaust it just didn't have the rumble in the pipes that I have missed. Now I am truly happy. Love BBK products.

      Buy another Brand

      I installed the ceramic coated long tubes about 10 months ago, However, after 2 months I stored the car indoors for winter, (5 months) 3 months later the headers are rusting and look terrible (spotty, not even rusting uniformly). I spoke with BBK and they told me it must be my environment and said I should've bought stainless headers. My car is a 2014 and has many chrome parts including a supercharger that was installed when car was new. All look great and show no rust. BBK does not stand behind their product.

      BBK has horrible quality control

      Ordered a set of these headers and when I received them, the ends were dented (where they connect to the H pipe). This was not AM's fault, as they just shipped what BBK sent them. Returned the set and AM sent a new set. These were dented even worse. I was concerned about leaks, so I wanted to send them back a 2nd time. Unfortunately, I had to pay the shop to fix this set because the 3rd set couldnt get to me until after my scheduled install time. Then when doing the install, the wires were not the correct ones. So I had to pay the shop to extend my current sensors. (I love dropping about $1200, then having to pay more to fix the product) Even if the plugs were correct, he said he had to add about 18" of wire to each side. I am not happy with BBK in this regard. Luckily, the throttle body and x-pipe had no issues. If you buy these, make sure you ask them to check to make sure the product isnt damaged.

      huge improvement

      This is one of the best mods for your stang. the fit was perfect, did not run into any problems. The one draw back was the exhaust which I put on earlier was the blackout pypes bomb really sounded high pitch or ricey. I am assuming the increase in air flow was too much, so I redid the exhaust to managflow quad tip and it was perfect. Could not ask for anything better. Sounded deep and rumbly. The performance gain was very impressive, actually almost caught a ticket!!!! A must have mod for your stang. I wish I would have done it sooner

      More higher end power for sure!

      Great product when it came to fitment and finish and look under the hood. I got this combined with bbk catless shorty x-pipes, Magnaflow street comp quad tips axle-back, BBK 73mm TB and Steeda CAI. These are the mods that should have an impact on the car's sound. The video in the link will say it all. And you can definitely feel the power in 2nd and 3rd gear, even though I have a 4:10 axle ratio stock ones will still feel!

      Nice add on

      Can feel more low end torque. Noise level increases when you get after it but that's to be expected. I still have on stock exhuast. So now that I am removing air faster it only follows that I should put air in faster. I think a ProCharger is next. Silver Fox!

      i am in the process of getting my 2011 v6 ready for a supercharger. these long tube headers with the catted x-pipe look great and sound even better. i have the borla touring cat-back exaust and at idle or even at low acceleration, there is only a small increase in sound, but when you punch it, man it sounds great. can really tell the the increase in hp. can't wait to get the procharger installed. it will blow the doors off on just about anything out there!

      Headers are good

      The BBK long tube headers sound great on my 2011 v6 stang. If you're really looking to increase the muscle on your pony, then this mod is for you. The install was kind of a pain, but it was well worth it because now my pony is a force to be reckoned with. I had a friend help me with the install, and it probably took about 7-8 hours. The most difficult part was tightening the bolts connecting the headers to the engine. After that however, the x pipe was installed in less than half an hour. If you have access to a lift, I would definitely recommend it as it will cut down on the installation time. I also have the magnaflow street catback and with this combination the car just sounds plain mean. Also its not super loud when when your driving conservatively, but when you get on it, watch out, it will turn heads. The power gains are noticeable, especially in the upper rpm range. My favorite part about these headers is that they're the only ones that come in a ceramic coating which helps keep the heat inside the exhaust and out of the engine bay. Plus they wont change color over time like chrome or stainless steel headers. So all in all, I am satisfied with this purchase.

      good quality loud headers

      Very good quality and fitment. Although one small flaw there was a dent in the collector at the bottom of the header so it didnt perfectly seal against the bbk catted pipes. If u want max hp and tq get borla long tube headers. They give u 12-15 more tq over bbk. Pull out the old headers through the bottom and install new headers from bottom too. Hold the xpipe with a jack stand while u bolt it to your exhaust so it doesnt sag down.

      Not bad, but unsure about the gains advertised

      It took me and my friend 5.5hours with hand tools and jack stands. It is definitely doable. Instructions were good, some bolts were a b*** to get to. The sound is VERY good. The gains I think are there (butt dyno) but can't really say for sure. There's a lot of pops and i posted a video on youtube you can check:

      GREAT but...

      this review is done about 2 months after my install. it took me a total of 12 hours to install the ceramic LT headers and a catted x pipe, i had 2 friends help me out during the install. my main problem was that my headers didnt come with the correct front O2 sensors but i extended them with some 20 AWG wire and they work perfectly now! the sound is awesome with my Borla ATAK axle backs and i really can notice a big improvement on power now that i have tightened down the clamps all the way. this is by far the most significant product i have bought for my mustang!
