    Review & Installation Video

Justin: Hi everyone, Justin with AmericanMuscle.com with Paul from the Bama Performance Team here to talk to you about the benefits of using the Bama SF4 Flash Tuner loaded with the custom Bama V2 Performance and Race Tune on your '05 to '10 three valve GT. Now, Paul, obviously the main benefit or purpose of using an aftermarket Tune is to make your car faster. How is the Bama Tune going to help in that regard? Paul: When we're calibrating a vehicle, we've got completely different expectations and regulations than the factory, and the OEMs leave a lot on the table, and there's just a lot for us to do. So we're modifying the fuel maps, spark maps, a complete reconfiguration of the drive by wire systems. And for the automatic guys we do a whole new shift schedule map, torque converter changes as well. Justin: Very nice, and now we're doing the Performance and we're also doing the Race Tune. Can you explain the differences between the two? Paul: Correct. Our Performance V2 Tune is really designed for that daily driver or the weekend warrior to offer a seamless blend of driveability and maximum power whereas our Race Tune, that's pretty much maximum power, maximum torque leaving nothing on the table with really aggressive throttle response, really aggressive shift schedules; for the automatic owners, really sensitive throttle, pretty much disabling all of the torque management and some other additional modifications that we make. Justin: Very cool, very cool. And what Paul didn't mention, of course, is that with Bama's Free Tunes for Life, as your car's modifications grow, Paul and his team will write a new Tune for each and every mod so that you can get the most performance out of your setup. So Paul's going to get out of here for now. I'm going to talk a little bit more about the benefits of the actual SF4 Tuner itself, but then we're going to run the car, the '07 GT behind me, and we'll see what kind of numbers you can expect. Breaking down the Tuner itself, you can see the SF4 does feature a compact and sleek design with a rather large full color LCD screen. Now, that screen is fully customizable and offers different colors and themes available through the menu. Now, another nice thing with this large screen is that it does feature a landscape mode. You can even turn the Tuner sideways for a different view which is helpful during datalog sessions as I'll talk about in a minute. So why the larger screen? Well, as I just mentioned, the SF4 does feature on-screen gauges and data logging similar to what you would find on more expensive models, like the ITSX or even the SET Live Wire, for instance. Now, the on-screen gauges are fully customizable as is the layout and is capable of displaying up to eight different values at one time, including your car's air fuel ratio, boost, intake, air temperature, and RPM, just to name a few. And again, all of which can be data logged with a simple touch of a button. Other features with the SF4 do include built-in Wi-Fi which is a nice little touch allowing you to take care of this future firmware updates wirelessly. The SF4 still can hold up to 10 Tunes at one time like previous Tuners, and it is still capable of reading and clearing those diagnostic trouble codes, again, just with a simple touch of a button. Now, guys, if you do have any more questions about the SF4 itself or about the new Bama V2 Tunes, I strongly encourage you to head back to the product page at AmericanMuscle.com, if you're not there already, to read up on some more details. But more importantly, you can read up on what other three valve owners are saying about running a Bama Tune on their own ride. Now that you know a little bit more about the Bama SF4 handheld Flash Tuner, let's find out just how much power you can expect out of your '05 to 10 GT with the help of a custom Bama V2 Tune. First, I'm going to walk you through the process of uploading your Tune. Then I'm going to get Paul back in here, run the '07 GT one more time and just see what kind of numbers we can expect. First thing you're going to want to do is locate your car's OBD2 port. Now on the '05 to '10 cars, it's going to be on the left-hand portion of the dash underneath. So go ahead and plug the Tuner in and wait for it to power on. Now, once the Tuner actually powers on, you're going to want to navigate to the Tune you wish to select. Basically just hit the Okay button a few times to make sure the key is on. Then we're going to go ahead and upload our Bama Race Tune. We'll select that one. It loads it, and then basically from there you're just going to follow the directions listed on the screen here, and you should be good to go. Now if you guys should have any questions or problems about uploading your Tune here with your '05 to '10 GT, don't hesitate to reach out to a Bama tuning expert. So with our baseline run already in the books and the Tune uploaded, Paul's going to hop back in the '07 GT here, make another hit on the Dynojet just to see what kind of numbers you guys can expect with your ride. Our baseline run with our 2007 GT gave us 269 horsepower and 296 pound feet of torque at the rear wheels. With the Bama Tune uploaded, the corners now making 283 horsepower and 310 pound feet of torque at the rear wheels which makes for a peak gain of 14 horsepower over those baseline numbers and gains of 17 horsepower and 18 pound feet of torque throughout the curve. All the bolt-ons in the world won't do anything for you or your ride without a quality Tune to bring it all together. So if you're looking to truly maximize the performance of your '05 to '10 three valve GT, then you're going to want to check out a Bama S4 Tuner loaded with the BAma V2 custom Tunes here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Improve ET's and Low End Torque. Installing a set of steeper rear gears is a great way to get more low end grunt off the line and lower your ET's at the same time. Ford Racing Mustang ring and pinion gears feature a super strong forged construction, CNC cut & lapped gear teeth, and a black oxide finish to resist corrosion making them perfect for street, road, or race use. You can also save money on your installation labor by having your Trac-Lok rebuilt at the same time as your gears are installed, see drop down option above.

Increased HP and torque. From the factory, the manufacturer programs their vehicles to cater to the needs of the daily driver, not the performance enthusiast. After loading the custom Bama Tune on a vehicle, even a bone stock, unmodified Mustang will realize noticeable gains in HP, Torque, and Fuel Economy.

Increase your mod's potential. Factory computer settings are calibrated for the original factory components. When making performance modifications, you need to recalibrate the vehicle's computer to realize the full potential that these modifications can achieve.

Free tunes for life! Every customer that purchases a tuner is enrolled in the "Free tunes for life" program. Any time that you make additional mods to your vehicle, our team of SCT certified Bama Custom Tuners will create new tunes for you.

Custom Bama Tunes specific to your vehicle. When you order a tuner, you aren't just getting a tuner - you are getting the tuner and 2 dyno-tested custom Bama tunes:

    • Performance V2 (87-93 Octane) - The Performance Tune offers a seamless blend of power, performance and drive-ability. Improving the overall driving experience of your Mustang, the Bama Performance Tune improves vehicle acceleration, increases power throughout the entire RPM and improves throttle response with revised timing, fuel, and TiVCT maps. Automatic equipped vehicles offer an aggressive shifting map to provide more aggressive transmission settings. This tune is suggested for the aggressive daily driver that is looking for more "get up and go".

    • Race V2 (91-93 Octane, E85, Race Fuel) - The Race Tune is designed for maximum performance and ensures the largest increase in vehicle performance. Using the highest grade of fuel available in your area is mandatory as timing, TiVCT, fuel, and throttle response settings are very aggressive. Automatic transmission settings implement entirely new shift points, torque converter changes and firmness settings designed for Track use.

Nitrous (91, 93, E85, Race Fuel) - Our nitrous option can be added to any of our previously mentioned tune options, but only for 91, 93, E85, or Race Fuel.

Technical Note About Fuel. Use of E85 will require larger fuel injectors such as Injector Dynamics ID1300 or Ford Racing 47lb/hr Injectors. Unleaded race fuel can also be used, but Stoichiometric points must be supplied.

Easy to load; easy to restore. Not only are the custom tunes easy to load on your vehicle, it is just as easy to restore your factory settings. When you load your custom tune on the vehicle, the tuner automatically stores your vehicle's factory settings. To return the vehicle to its factory settings, just plug the tuner back in, select the option to restore the factory settings, and you're done.

    5 Top Rated Questions

I have read the contents of this kit, I have watched the video, but I STILL DON'T KNOW if this kit includes the rear gear pinion bearing kit necessary for 2010 Mustang gear swaps? And this is from a person who reads, writes and interprets complex written language for a living... Also, can not find this "drop-down" menu you are talking about in the video. You warn about it being necessary all the time, yet do not state clearly if this bearing kit contains it or not. Please indicate this CLEARLY for everyone to see, it is really confusing. Apart from that (assuming the kit DOES NOT include the rear, which I seem to deduct from one of the answers for previous questions), why make a bearing kit without the most important and needed bearing? Does ANY kit you sell include this 2010 rear gear pinion bearing (maybe those big kits with bottles for 279$ or any other kits by Ford?) or the only way is to buy the bearing separately?

    • We do apologize that the listing is not clear enough. The Motive Rear End Installation and Bearing Kit does not include the Rear Gear Pinion Bearing for 2010-2014 Mustangs. The bearing is not included in the kit because the kit is designed for 1986-2014 Mustangs, and it is not necessary for the majority of the years this kit works on. It is included in the Gear Combo Kits for the 2010-2014 GT and 2011-2014 V6 Mustangs found here: https://www.americanmuscle.com/2010-mustang-gears.html#shop-by7

with the 93 octane tune will I have to run 93 octane gas?

    • Yes, with a 93 octane tune with the Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner you would need to run 93 octane. If you are worried about not being able to find 93 octane you can request a 91 octane tune and run 93 when you can find it. You can run a higher octane but never lower.

Just installed the JLT CAI on the weekend and loaded the Performance tune. I really like it so far but have a question about the Race tune before I install it. 4:10 gears and Bama tuner

This mod package is the best thing that I have done to improve the performance of my manual 2012 GT. I can't tell you how much more I enjoy my car. so happy that I stuck to my guns and went with the 410 gears. I had a lot of people telling me to go with the 373s. The car still cruises at 80mph no problem. And that Bama tuner, wow! that thing couldn't be any easier. What a difference in throttle response, the car feels fantastic and runs like a top! so far I've only run the performance tune and I get 4th gear rubber all day long,I can't even imagine what the race tune is going to feel like.

Review from Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 2 Custom Tunes (11-14 GT; 12-13 BOSS 302)

      Bad a**!!!

This tune really woke up my mostly stock mustang! I ran a 13.291 with just a bbk intake and roush axle back exhaust. She has factory 3.73 gears and is the 6 speed manual. After the race tune for 92 octane I ran a 12.879. If I had drag radials I would be closer to mid or maybe low 12s. Love this tuner and bama for doing the tune!!

      Review from Ford Performance Ring Gear and Pinion Kit - 4.10 Gears (11-14 V6; 86-14 V8, Excluding 13-14 GT500)

      Awesome.

4.10. is the only way to go if you have a 6 speed car. Don’t even think about a 3.73. I went from a 3.31 to the 4.10. It’s a whole new animal. You will need wider tires, to hold the road. This is the best modification for the money. The only way to feel this big of a change in your car would be to super charge it. I recommend running the backlash between.013in to .015in. It’s a little higher then spec, but this will prevent some gear noise at low speeds.

Review from Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 2 Custom Tunes (11-14 GT; 12-13 BOSS 302)

      Must Have Upgrade

This is the second Bama tuner I have purchased and I'm not disappointed. I've got nearly 100k miles on my 13 GT and I'm just now getting around to a tune. The only aftermarket parts I have are mufflers and different size wheels, so I wasn't expecting a huge power increase. There definitely is a slight increase in power but the way it shifts is GREATLY improved. Throttle response is much better, it downshifts under less aggressive acceleration, upshifts feel much firmer. Bonus is that the speedometer was recalibrated for my new wheels and is now accurate (it's been running 4 too fast for tens of thousands of miles). Looking forward to adding a CAI and intake manifold and getting my new tunes. Lifetime tunes are a great benefit.

Review from Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 2 Custom Tunes (11-14 GT; 12-13 BOSS 302)

Custom tune is a waste of money.

My buddy and I both got 2014 gt mustang and got this Tuner with 2 custom tune. His car stalled so many times and wouldn't pass emissions. He reinstalled original CAI and tune and everything is fine. As for my car, at least once a week I got misfire and wouldn't passed emissions. I called AM and they told me the tune would pass emissions but that is not the case. I had to install stock tune to pass emissions everytime, twice. I finally put stock CAI and tune back permanently. What a headache.

This tuner and jlt series 3 cai are a great combo. I have the fastest 3v around right now. Can definitely feel the power difference. I’d recommend this to anyone. They come with tunes for life. Which is awesome. Go on and buy it. You won’t regret it.

      Nice first mod

Was kind of skeptical if it would be a good first mod. Turned out great I would say it is better with a cold air intake though.

Tuner Works Fine, Custom Tune Does Not.

I had two custom tunes written for my car, one was a 91 tune and the other a 93 tune - written by the folks at BAMA (Other than the ones that came on the advice). The custom tune that was written made the car misfire and feel sloppy at all RPM's, I figured it was my car so I did a fuel pressure check, changed coil packs, plugs, fuel filter - did nothing. I swapped to one of the tunes that comes on the device and my car woke up like nobodies business, I highly recommend the tunes that come on it and skipping getting a custom tune.

      BAMA Tuner

Great improvement over the stock tune, shift points are firmer with the auto transmission, engine power is very noticeable through higher RPM, and the sound of the engine is much improved.

Get one. You'll be smiling from ear to ear.

Simply WOW!!!! The performance tune woke up my motor. The race tune brought the beast out. This is the 2nd X4 tuner I've had. Unfortunately the 1st car I had it for is in mustang heaven. When I purchased my 2nd mustang the X4 was 1st on my list. If you're on the fence regarding purchasing an X4 take the jump and buy it. You'll kick yourself for having waited so long.

Review from Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 2 Custom Tunes (11-14 GT; 12-13 BOSS 302)

Things have changed since my 92 Mustang.

I've owned many different Mustangs over the last 40 years including a 77 Mustang Cobra that I turned into a wild beast, a 92 Mustang 5.0L LX Coupe that was known for being the fastest street car within a 100 miles of where I live and now I own a "Give Me a Ticket Please", Red, 2013 Mustang Prem. 5.0L with an automatic transmission that I've named Ginger. Now, don't laugh about me getting an automatic, rowing gears isn't as fun at my age as it use to be! Anyway, I just got this car for Father's Day 2018 with only 4299 miles on it. The car was great for just driving around and if you wanted a firmer shift for a little more spirited driving, all you needed to do is put the trans. in Sport Mode, which I found to be quite good. But, as with any real Gearhead, I wanted a bit more of everything all the time. So, I installed a 93 octane Performance Tune from BAMA. The minute I rolled out of the driveway I could feel improvement in the shift firmness and that was just in the standard trans. mode. I actually had a smile come up on my face as I drove up the road by my house. "If this is the Performance Tune", I said to myself, "I can't wait to see what the 93 octane Race Tune will be like". Anyway, after driving a few miles to a nice curvy back road that is a joy to play on, I shifted into Sports Mode and turn off the nannies so I could had full control of the car. All I could say was "OMG, this car feels like a Fire Breathing Dragon wearing horse shoes!". There was never any one change that I ever made that made such a big difference in performance on my 92 LX other than maybe going from 2.73 gears to 4.11s, that you would really notice! The car has now become a whole new beast to get use to over the next several days. Maybe in a week I will drop in the Race Tune for a few days but I'm thinking I wont be able to leave the Race Tune in except when I drive. Right now, I'm really not sure the wife would like driving the car with the Performance Tune installed. But hey, she hasn't driven the car yet, so if she thinks this is normal and decides to just not drive it like she did the 92 Mustang I had back in the day, who am I to argue?

      Bama flash tuner

Installed a BBK blackout cold air intake, programmed the custom tune "race" into my cars computer.what a difference,no more throttle hesitation, trans is a 6 speed automatic transmission. It launches like a rocket and now chirps the tires every time car shifts to 2nd gear.so awesome. much more fun to drive.Without a doubt a noticable difference, and that's the truth ruth.install your choice CAI and use this tuner, its very simple and fast to use,and go live the excitement...T...out..got to go burn some rubber...

      WOW! What a difference!

The tuner, SR Throttlebody and JTL CIA really woke up my 2010 4.6L! I did a baseline dyno pull a week before input these on, 300 rwhp and 322 rwt! Good numbers for a 145k miles and stock motor. Can’t wait to get my headers and 3” exhaust mounted. Then, a other dyno pull to see exact numbers! Thanks AM, great job as usual!!
