Noah: Hey, it's Noah for AmericanMuscle. And today, we're checking out the AFE Momentum GT Cold Air Intake with Pro DRY S Filter in Red, fitting the 2011 and newer 3.6-Liter Challenger. This intake is the perfect choice for the challenger owner who's looking for a top-of-the-line performance intake that's gonna bring some serious engine-based style with a loud pop of color.Obviously, the first thing to note about this intake is that it's completely red, not black. So this thing is really gonna stand out in the engine bay, and it's a pretty impressive unit overall. Now, regardless of the color, this is still a cold air intake, so it doesn't have any restrictions the factory intake tubes would come with.So that's gonna help with throttle response, as well as get you some horsepower and torque, and it's gonna result in an overall more enjoyable driving experience. Then this guy does come with an air box that's a lot nicer than the factory unit as well here at the end, so you can be sure that the air coming into your intake is nice and cold. Now, the filter here is dry, which means it's gonna perform very well in dusty and dirty environments, and it's designed to be washable so you can just clean it and reinstall rather than replacing the whole filter. The intake tube is constructed from a red cross-linked polyethylene polymer. That means this intake is lightweight, it's sturdy enough to resist cracking or warping because of engine bay heat. It's a very heat-resistant material as well, which is gonna keep this intake air temp down. Now, colder air is much better for making power, and that's where you're gonna see a lot of the power gains come from. One really great thing about this guy is that it's not a ton of pieces, and the air box is just one solid unit. That's gonna keep the build rigid and the installation pretty easy. Then the last thing to note is that this little window is worked into the design of the air box, so you can see in and see that conical filter inside and know when it needs to be cleaned without pulling the whole thing apart. Now let's talk price. AFE's Momentum GT Cold Air Intake comes in right around the $550 mark, and this intake is gonna fall near the middle of the range price-wise because it's made from a plastic material rather than something like carbon fiber. Now, plastic is one of the best materials to make an intake out of, and it just so happens to be one of the most affordable, so you're in luck. This install falls at one out of three wrenches of difficulty, and you can count on spending around an hour on it. All the parts you need to install this intake are included with the kit, stuff like clamps, fittings, and boots. So, this intake is a simple bolt-on job. It doesn't require any fabrication or tuning either. And without further ado, let's head over to the shop and get this put on our Challenger.Man: So, for this install, we'll be using a flathead screwdriver, 8-millimeter and 10-millimeter nut driver, Allen screwdriver, and a pair of pliers. Okay. For the first step, remove the engine cover. Once the engine cover is removed, you're gonna loosen and remove the nut from the factory intake to reuse on your cold air intake, remove the bracket from throttle body, as well as the CCV hose from the original intake.Next, disconnect the throttle temperature sensor from its housing. From there, you should be able to remove entirely the factory air intake. You can also now remove the CCV hose from the back of the engine as well.Next, you're gonna transfer the factory air intake grommet to your new cold air intake one simply by grabbing the aluminum nut, pulling up, and taking the grommet out. And now we will be transferring that grommet to your cold air intake. Next, you'll be installing the rubber seal to the bottom of your housing. Some trimming may need to be done if you have extra length. As an additional bonus, we'll be installing the headlight intake duct that's sold separately from AFE. You can either remove the plug or you can leave it open to allow more air into the intake. But by doing so without having this additional piece, you'll be drawing in hot air from the engine bay. You're gonna take the nubby end and secure it into your air box.Next, we're gonna take the actual air filter and place inside the air box. It stays right in with those little nubs that'll keep it in from falling out. Next, we'll be installing the aluminum support bracket and grommet, as well as the housing for the air temperature sensor. We'll also be installing the hump coupling as well. With the screws provided and your Allen key, you will install the bracket. Use your thumbs to thread in the screws. Once they're threaded in, secure it all the way with your Allen wrench.Next, add the rubber grommet to the aluminum support bracket. It might take a little finesse to get it on there. Next, it's time to add the throttle temperature sensor. You're gonna use the rubber grommet and the plastic housing provided in your kit. Take the grommet, kind of feed into the inlet, making sure you got no gaps. Once you've secured the rubber grommet, take the temperature housing plug that was provided and fit that into the rubber hole.Next, you're gonna take your air temperature sensor and remove it from the original housing. You're gonna turn that counterclockwise and pull right out of the housing itself. You're now gonna reinstall onto your new intake tube, your throttle temperature sensor. Place it into the hole and turn clockwise till you hear it click. Next, you're gonna take the hump coupling as well as the two larger brackets and install onto the new intake tube, but do not tighten the brackets just yet. And now install those two big brackets onto the hump coupling. And now, the second one.Next, you're gonna take the smaller rubber coupling along with the smaller brackets, and you're gonna place 'em onto the throttle body, securing 'em there, but just not tightening 'em just yet. Make sure when you're putting the brackets on, that you leave the nut in a spot where you can easily tighten once everything is connected.Next, you're gonna install the curved intake tube onto the throttle body with the coupling, and also the rubber grommet's gonna be on this...from the support bracket, you're also gonna attach that as well. Now reinstall the rubber grommet from the stock intake. Now you can install the new air box into its housing. With the air box in place, you may now take this factory screw and reinstall it back onto the car using your 8-millimeter nut driver. With the air box installed, now we're gonna take the final tube and make sure to realign everything before we tighten it all down with the brackets. Now, once we've properly aligned all of the tubes, we're gonna start from the throttle body making our way all the way down to the air filter, tightening down all the clamps with the 10-millimeter nut driver. Next, reconnect the throttle temperature sensor. And then reinstall the crankcase hose and redirect it to the passenger side to this little inlet right here. All right. Once you've redirected the crankcase hose, use this little small gasket to then reattach the hose onto the air box. Use the flathead screwdriver, or if you have a small enough nut driver, to tighten this down. And lastly, the engine cover back in place. And there you go, the AFE Momentum GT Cold Air Intake with the Headlight Induction Inlet Tube installed on your 2021 Dodge Challenger GT.Noah: That was my take on the AFE Momentum GT Cold Air Intake with Pro DRY S Filter in Red, fitting the 2011 and newer 3.6-Liter Challenger.
