Steady as She Goes - Elijah’s 2014 Ford Mustang GT

With a Steeda sponsorship, AmericanMuscle customer Elijah Barrera’s 2014 Ford Mustang GT has all the suspension goodies it needs for stability and control. Elijah installed several upgrades to improve his GT’s ride quality, including a Steeda strut tower brace, adjustable sway bars, lower control arms, sport springs, and coil overs. He also installed a Flowmaster axle-back exhaust with a Bama performance tune and BBK catted x-pipe. There is no doubt this GT is ready to take on the track and conquer every turn

More Traction

To eliminate the unwanted flex and twist that can occur from the factory component, Elijah installed a Steeda Adjustable Panhard Bar on his GT. This one works hard to keep the rear axle located in an optimum position to improve traction and cornering. Since this panhard bar is on-car adjustable, Elijah can easily fine-tune his suspension by turning a wrench. Steeda’s panhard bar is twice as strong as other aftermarket options, as it’s crafted from highly durable 4130 chromoly alloy. The addition of polyurethane bushings ensures a noise-free and low vibration ride.

Getting Cooler

One of the simplest and inexpensive ways to gain more performance and a nice bump in horsepower is to install a cold air intake. Elijah opted to go with the JLT Performance Series 2 Cold Air Intake. This version uses a plastic intake tube, which helps dissipate heat for a cooler intake charge. A roto-molded heat shield is included to further block out excess heat coming from the engine bay. With the sleek matte black finish, Elijah’s car can now experience cooler air and look cooler doing so. This intake does require a new tune, which Elijah has taken care of by way of Bama Performance, to reprogram the ECU and operate properly.

Free Flowing

To further improve his GT’s performance, Elijah installed a set of BBK Ceramic Long Tube Headers. Under hood temperatures will be reduced for increased horsepower and torque thanks to their polished silver ceramic coating. The ceramic coating extends the life of the headers and outlasts both polished and chrome finishes. These headers are free-flowing to improve exhaust flow over the restrictive OE manifolds. Since more rear horsepower is achieved when paired with a matching BBK x-pipe, Elijah installed a catted x-pipe to ensure optimal performance benefits.

Practical Styling

Mustangs rarely have a hard time intimidating the competition with its muscular contours and unmistakable prowess. Even so, Elijah wanted to add some oomph and aggression to the front end of his GT with a Cervini’s Stalker Hood. If the name didn’t sound menacing enough, it certainly looks so. This ram air style hood works to keep heat out of the engine bay and move the hot air out of the rear heat extractor vents. This is crucial, since heat soak can rob your car of horsepower and even cause serious motor damage. This hood is made from lightweight, hand-laid fiberglass and is built to last a lifetime. Elijah had it painted in an Oxford White to match the rest of his GT’s body.
