Magnetic Mustang: Gary’s 2014 Ford Mustang GT

To make his car more aggressive, AmericanMuscle customer Gary Hearn did not have to do much to his 2014 Ford Mustang GT. The factory magnetic grey exterior paint job alone emits a mean look. Gary chose to add a GT500 spoiler, performance grille, ram air induction hood and chin spoiler for a bolder appearance. He knew, though, that he had to make his car sound as loud as it looked. In terms of added performance, he installed long tube headers, a shorty x-pipe, new exhaust and an MPT 94 race tune.

Super Snake Styling

For a front end that is intimidating to lock eyes with, Gary opted for the Cervini’s Ram Air Type IV Hood. This hood transports the aggressive good looks of the Shelby Super Snake onto any 2013-2014 GT or V6. Its lightweight fiberglass material features a finished underside liner for superior strength and two pre-cut 18-inch scoops work to keep temperatures under the hood low. When it comes to form or function, the Cervini’s hood falls into both categories. It’s a fully functional heat extractor hood containing louvered inserts that allow hot air to freely exit the engine bay. As a result, Gary experiences improved performance with an engine that now runs cooler.

Rear Inspiration

In addition to a bold front end, Gary wanted a rear end that was menacing for the competition. He decided to go with a SpeedForm GT500 style spoiler because of the way its inspired look complements the sleek profile of the S197 Mustang. The spoiler was painted right here at the AmericanMuscle headquarters to match his stock Magnetic Grey GT color perfectly. Crafted from high-pressure injected ABS plastic, the spoiler is extremely durable and made to withstand the inevitable. Installation was a breeze too, as all the necessary hardware and 3M tape was included. Gary didn’t have to worry about any existing holes protruding either. The SpeedForm spoiler covers the factory holes in the trunk lid and maintains use and functionality of the third brake light.

Unique Mufflers

When it came time to up the performance, Gary went with the Roush axle-back exhaust. This system features open-chambered mufflers for an aggressive exhaust note that’s hard to ignore. In addition to increasing airflow, this exhaust delivers a unique howl without that annoying in-cabin drone usually found when driving at cruising speeds. A pair of 4” stainless steel polished tips are finished off with a chrome flashing that protects against discoloration from exhaust heat.

Racer Appearance

To complete the race-ready look of his Mustang GT, Gary installed a Classic Design Concepts Performance upper grille. This grille features an intimidating wide mouth design that adds a great deal of aggression to the front end. Increased air flow to the radiator means better engine cooling for improved performance. It utilizes original factory mounting points and connects directly with the GT’s front fascia. The fog light delete cleans up the look of the Mustang’s front end for a more defined appearance that helps set it apart from the rest.
